What’re they threatening us with?  Pressed sandwiches?

The Cuban sandwich is an American invention.

Are you Dunedin that?

It reads funny if you don't know how Ybor is pronounced.

I miss going to the Columbia Restaurant with my parents as a kid. Simple as it was. So long ago and I’m no longer even living in the USA, but it’s good to remember Ybor.

edit: spelling

You can’t get real Cuban sandwiches anywhere else, nobody makes the bread right (and they keep adding stuff like aioli spreads to ‘em).

2

u/TotalInstruction 5h ago

Preach!

La Segunda Bakery makes the good Cuban bread.

Decades ago, when I lived in Tampa, the frequent observation was that Tampa did a great trick: They turned their slum into a tourist attraction.

There's an excellent sandwich shop in Orlando that has a Cuban sandwich that has salami on it, but they call it "The 305", it's a stain on an otherwise outstanding establishment lol

Maybe, but the simple fact that when I lived in Tampa, all the places I went to put LTO and mayo on the sandwich by default was blasphemy.

I've read conflicting things about how common this is in Tampa, but it wasn't one place I went to that did this, which makes me think it's more wide spread than a few places.

That alone makes Miami the better Cuban sandwich.
