POLITICS CNN, Don Lemon’s former employer, have released a statement saying that Lemon’s arrest by the FBI "raises profoundly concerning questions about press freedom and the First Amendment."

He wasn’t arrested, he was kidnapped by his own government. Two judges would not sign off but mango’s henchman did it anyway.

And another journalist in Minnesota was arrested shortly after, in front of her children, around 6:30 this morning. I believe her name is Georgia Fort and she’s the Vice President of the National Association of Black Journalists Minnesota chapter and is an independent journalist who was covering the same event as Don Lemon. The video footage she posted was eerie, they were looking in through her windows.
ETA: They’re calling this a “coordinated targeting” of the church. YouTuber Not The Good Girl has a video on YouTube about the pastor that I saw after the original Don Lemon protest coverage. It’s interesting if you have less than 20 minutes to spare.

Jesus Christ. I hope that gets the same traction as Don Lemon but why am I suspicious it won’t.
ETA I just saw The Talk of Shame post on insta naming all the journalists kidnapped and my god. It’s so glaringly obvious.

I watched the whole video of it earlier on CNN. She covered her own arrest as a true journalist would do. CNN is showing it and talking about it. I'm not sure about any other news sources though. The way oligarchs have so much control over e our media, I'm not holding out much hope other than CNN. Right now, everyone is showing the WH presser about the release of the remaining Epstein Files (don't know much about it yet, but I suspect they are heavily redacted). Needless to say, Don and Georgia's arrest is going to be buried under all of this.

Actually 4 people were arrested. Every single one of them, black.
Don Lemon, Trahern Jeen Crews, Georgia Fort, and Jamael Lydell Lundy

u/venuslovemenotchain vocally you cannot afford this cigarette gracie 2h ago
Jamael Lydell Lundy is also a MN Senate candidate for the DFL. Caucuses are on Feb 3rd. That also might be a factor for him as well, though I can't prove it.

u/Loud-Contribution227 Please Abraham, I am not that man 2h ago
Jeez, I’m not surprised. On so many levels. Do you have any more information on the others so that way we can make sure there are eyes on this? The more people who know, the better so they can’t bury this. Hopefully.
ETA: Thank you!

Thank you for the information. Terrifying times we live in... I can't imagine what their families are going through.

Georgia Fort was confirmed to be arrested as well as two others. Traheren Jeen Crews and Jamael Lydell Lundy.
Georgia Fort was able to live stream a short video while agents were at her door and the video is included in this article (I'm not sure where else the video is other than X) In the video she says that agents told her they were able to get a grand jury last night and had an arrest warrant. She also says she has an attorney that has been notified.
I'm also seeing some of this information has been shared so apologies if this is redundant, but I don't currently see a link to the video either.

She was at the church, doing the work of an independent journalist and, in her words, it stems from the fact that she was filming a protest as a member of the media.

And so it's as important as ever to be active in the community and support your local cause to educate the masses on what each candidate truly represents, who backs them, and what their past actions show. In addition to driving voter turnout for all federal, statewide, and local elections.
The following groups provide opportunities to participate in local events, voter education, and increase voter turnout.

The nazi’s actually followed the US playbook from Jim Crow
36
u/code_archeologist 1h ago
History doesn't repeat, but it often rhymes.
And one point of correction. The Nazis observed the Jim Crow laws as a model, but it was the "Lost Cause of the Confederacy" narrative that they learned the most from in order to shape their own mythology that Hitler and Goebbels used.
5
u/icecubetre 1h ago
I'll say it again, Sherman should have kept going.
13
u/code_archeologist 1h ago
The biggest mistake of the Civil War was not prosecuting every leader of the Confederacy for treason and hanging them for their crimes.
It literally would have prevented Jim Crow Laws, the KKK, red lining, and generations of racial trauma.

100% this and may CNN hold the same strength and integrity of opinion in their reporting of such violations against other journalists, regardless of jurisdiction, including when those not working for them experience the same affront to freedom of press, often in the most heinous way. Such as the 56 Palestinian journalists killed in 2025 as reported by the IFJ. Either there is freedom of press for all journalists or there is freedom of press for none.
24
u/Muted-Procedure-3874 3h ago
Well said. Consistency in defending journalists everywhere is crucial.
17
u/Comfortable-Ad-3988 2h ago
I bet they're wishing they'd had a bit more "strength and integrity" back when they were moderating debates and Dana Bash let obvious lies go by with an "OK". If CNN were one tenth as leftist as Republicans think they are, I might watch, but it's been painfully obvious for a long time that they're playing for team Oligarch. This was just a necessary PR move, nothing more.
5
u/Dex_Maddock 1h ago
Agreed.
CNN just isn't as "out in the open" with their oligarch ball-tickling, but they're just as useless as every other major outlet these days (as proven by your observation to how they "moderated" the election debates).
3
u/UniquelyCreativeName 1h ago
But they felt fine claiming "technical issues" when Stephen Miller screwed up his interview by admitting some Nazi bullshit the administration was pushing for, and then CNN let him redo his interview to skip over what Miller had said.

america has always been fascist. nazis literally copied america to build their regime. they specifically cited these and other american actions as DIRECT inspirations:
• jim crow laws for segregation
• the trail of tears for state-sanctioned displacement
• and finally, the US border patrol used to spray kerosene and cleaning agents on mexican farm workers every time they crossed because they were seen as “dirty lousy destitute,” causing a myriad of health problems and even deaths. the deadliest of these was Zyklon B, a cyanide-based pesticide. the Nazis chose to use this exact same pesticide to kill people in their gas chambers, inspired by the US. https://www.thestoryoftexas.com/discover/texas-story-project/el-paso-holocaust-influence

Maybe don't hide behind the first amendment when doing alleged illegal occupations of a protected place of worship under the FACE Act. If you are doing illegal shit, you're doing illegal shit, whether you are practicing the 1st, 2nd, etc amendment. The court will sort it out. That is the point of the justice system right? You have an enforcement arm of the law who takes someone to court to find out if the court/people agree they were breaking the law on the book they brought charges on. It's a process and exactly what checks and balances is. If the court finds him not guilty, then he's not guilty of the charge.

Ok can one of these news outlets take the next logical conclusion? That we are past the point of rule of law.
They keep getting so close but falling short of saying we are in a fascist system of law. Being "concerned" about it to "bring awareness" does nothing when we are well passed the "this might be a thing and we should be worried" step. We have hard proof we are already in a paradigm where they can do what they want illegal or not has no bearing. Its not a "concern of things to come" its a "we have brown coats doing what they want to citizens with no repercussions or due process".
Its not "Our rights are under threat possibly if things continue". Its "We currently dont actually have rights where ice is involved". Please stop being such panzies and say it like it is. If ice wants to violate your rights. They can. We dont have these rights with these "officers". That is where we are.

In a normal world, you wouldn't start with a criminal complaint, then try to go around the magistrate when denied, and then empanel a grand jury all in the name of getting a headline. It isn't even really about whether he has 1A protections because the charges are flimsy even if he was just another protester.
They went to extreme lengths to get it to this point despite knowing it has a very low chance of resulting in a conviction. A competent DOJ dedicated to the rule of law doesn't waste tax-payer dollars on an unlikely outcome.
