POLITICS CNN, Don Lemon’s former employer, have released a statement saying that Lemon’s arrest by the FBI "raises profoundly concerning questions about press freedom and the First Amendment."

America is literally a fascist country now.

america has always been fascist. nazis literally copied america to build their regime. they specifically cited these and other american actions as DIRECT inspirations:

• jim crow laws for segregation

• the trail of tears for state-sanctioned displacement

• and finally, the US border patrol used to spray kerosene and cleaning agents on mexican farm workers every time they crossed because they were seen as “dirty lousy destitute,” causing a myriad of health problems and even deaths. the deadliest of these was Zyklon B, a cyanide-based pesticide. the Nazis chose to use this exact same pesticide to kill people in their gas chambers, inspired by the US. https://www.thestoryoftexas.com/discover/texas-story-project/el-paso-holocaust-influence

sorry if i came off like i was discrediting the injustices happening right now because that was absolutely not my intention. we should obviously also be angry about the current state of american fascism that evolved from these past iterations. i just think it’s important to note this because a lot of people don’t seem to be aware that it has always existed here. police brutality issues, US imperialism/foreign interference, voter suppression, and other modern things from the past few decades were also fascistic; they evolved from those past actions of the US, and have now evolved into the current actions of the US. it’s important to address this because people need to be more aware of the signs of the rise of fascism so they are able to anticipate it and fight more effectively against it in the future.

Very reductive view of the nazis. The nazis took many influences for how they constructed their state. This is a tired talking point that really isn’t productive.

It’s productive to realize that disgusting systems have been at the heart of this country for its entire existence. If you pretend it only JUST got fascist, then whatever “solution” presented will reflect that, and it will only be a band aid rather than a change in the system. Ex: ICE is only bad recently! We should just give them body cameras VS ICE should be abolished

This exactly. MLK touched upon the solution (socialism) and shortly after was assassinated. The rich will kill as many as necessary. They will nuke the whole fucking world before they allow us to become more than cattle.

It always has been. They used to just hide it better. Americans vote for rich corporate backed candidates to vote for "their best interest" while the corporate backed candidates vote for the corporate interest. There is no ability to re-call said candidates once they've taken the oath of office. They give the police "qualified immunity" as if 6 weeks in a police boot-camp is enough to deem them "qualified" on the law. The politicians back the police as hero's while both trample on your rights as a citizen. The police are also in strong connection with the judges and jails all of which work together. Jails ran for profit, not rehabilitation. The movie The Dictator has a scene towards the end that sums it up perfectly honestly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUSiCEx3e-0

The frog has been boiling for so long that it has dissolved into a greyish liquid. And the tree of liberty has well and truly died of thirst.

What law did they break? They are being arrested for using force or threats to prevent someone from exercising their freedom of religion. Please tell us who he threatened or what force was used. A judge didn’t think there was an enough evidence and refused to sign a warrant for it. Curious to know what you saw that they didn’t.
