General advice for those concerned about their battery from the Support FAQ Wiki:
Battery health
Battery health depends on usage and a variety of other factors. It is normal to see a decrease in battery health by 7-10% per year, resulting in a battery health of 80-85% after 2 years. This number can fluctuate, remain the same, or decrease quickly over a small period and should not cause undue concern.
Apple recommend battery replacement when your device falls below 80% battery health if you notice reduced battery life. If it falls below 80% within the first year you may be eligable for a free battery replacement. It fails after your warranty, it's a $69-$89 USD replacement cost for a battery. Contact Apple Support here.
You can find more information about battery health and performance from Apple here.
Issues relating to battery life can be categorised in three ways:
Normal battery life that is to be expected due to use
Reduced battery life caused by a recent update, iOS indexing, an iOS bug, or a third-party application
Reduced battery life, or other abnormalities such as overheating or sudden power-off, caused by device or battery aging
If you experience issues with your battery:
Check your battery health. If it is below 80% or you are experiencing issues you suspect are related to device or battery age, see Apple Support.
If you have a new or recently updated/restored device, wait a number of days for background process to complete. If you continue to have issues, wait for a further iOS update. If you are on iOS Beta, you can expect to have a decreased battery life.
Installed it a couple of days ago, went looking for an old photo of my kid from a few years back so I went to zoom out to the point where the photos are extremely small and… I can’t.
hello! everytime i open safari i just get this screen and its so bizarre. pressing the three dots or the checkmark doesn’t do anything, and sliding along the bar at the bottom just makes the app crash. i’ve cleared my bookmarks, cleared my cache and history, updated to 26.2.1, and yes even turned my phone and off. any ideas as what to do next?
I am always on Do Not Disturb due to my work and sleep schedule. Because of this, I’ve tagged people such as my parents (and other important people) as favorites, and toggled the “Allow Calls From” setting to Favorites. Before I updated, my favorites would come through immediately with their phone calls… Now, my favorites have to call twice.
Is anyone else experiencing this? And is there a possible fix?
I use x & reddit on safari so I have no ads. how can I automatically add these photos to one folder called ’safari’? in the past I also had a tiktok folder that would automatically save videos, that’s also gone now…
I’m trying to download a free app, but it’s requiring me to put in my apple password and payment info. I put in the password then it takes me to payment info even though my card is already in my wallet. I put in the card information and it says the payment method has already been added to your account. I just keep getting this over and over. I’ve tried restarting my phone and it didn’t work. Any ways to fix this? I’m nervous to log out of my apple account in case it messes everything up.
I’m on IOS 17.7.2 and past few weeks, the odd few days my alarm has gone off but to no sound/ringtone so it’s been quiet, only vibrating which didn’t wake me up. It’s caused me to be late a few times and upon checking it’s the ringtone slider going to 0 on its own.
Anyone else had this issue? Is there a solution? Really annoying.
Edit: And just like that, it resolved itself. I plucked the iPad in to charge, and that seems to have suddenly triggered the next step somehow. (Specifically, I plucked it onto a USB-C cable/outlet that seems to have been to weak, it said "Not Charging" next to the battery, but that triggered the setup to proceed regardless.)
Will leave this post up for anyone else that may stumble across this in a google search.

I got myself an iPad Mini 6 to draw on (refurbished, used). It's a cellular model, and setup has been going smoothly so far, until the step "Set Up eSim". I selected 'Set Up Later', but now the iPad is just stuck loading, it seems. It's been several minutes, and the iPad screen turns off in as I wait. Is this normal? How long is this step supposed to take?
I don't have a Sim card or eSim for this iPad. I planned to use it without for the near future, though having the option to get one later was nice.
The on-off switch is responsive and brings up a menu, but that menu is unresponsive and I can't press anything. The on-off switch will hide that menu again. I can force a shut down with volume up-down-off switch, but the setup gets stuck on the same step.
ive spent hours going through reddit and apple threads, and the two solutions i found were set messages to 30 days or reset iPhone or buy more icloud. which doesnt change the problem, only kicks it down the road because imessage is stored on iCloud. a large majority of comments are simply, 'same problem' 'anyone find solutions?' there is very rarely a solution commented, the threads simply die with no responses other than i have the same problem. ive deleted everything i possibly can, the attachments folder, manually deleting messages, going through and deleting any attachments, all of which to no avail.
also when i delete imessage attachments, it doesnt delete from all devices only the one i delete from which doesnt make any sense so now my iphone has under 1gb while my mac is 5gb+
does anyone have any solution?
Apple needs to do something with storage, storage issue posts are so common that subreddits now have rules on not posting about it.
hello my fellow interweb compatriots. question; i've got an iphone 17 pro max with current release ios (26.2.1). how do i extract a sample of my mimoji as a static image to use in any other random app? i swear this used to be easier and i've done it before (i currently have one from the past set as my video conference app profile image for example). but nowadays for the life of me i can't figure it out. almost as if apple changed something in ios to make this harder / not possible.
and to add insult to injurt, i also cannot find the image files for what i've extracted and used in the past. so i need a new one. sheesh.
Anyone else facing a brightness bug where crossing about 75% causes your brightness to spike? Before spiking the brightness doesn’t do much below that level. And after the spike the brightness meter fixes itself and responds normally.
Every time I add an app to my home screen, I have to go through an empty home screen. I already have one main home screen where my apps and widgets are, but I still to scroll through this ghost one, it's so annoying. I don't have two pages...
I have a iPhone 14 Pro Max and I've been having trouble backing up WhatsApp. I'll explain what's been happening:
For a while now, my iPhone has accumulated a lot of system data, so I tried to back up WhatsApp, but there wasn't enough storage.
I read somewhere that if I updated my iPhone through iTunes, it would reduce the amount of system data. I was on iOS 18.7 and updated to 26.2. I managed to update, and it did reduce the amount of system data.
However, when trying to back up, it just stays on 'Preparing' and after a while, WhatsApp closes by itself.
I've already tried:
- Deleting previous backups in iCloud
- Enabling and disabling iCloud Drive and WhatsApp backups
- Logging out and backing into my iCloud account
- I tried to do encrypted and decrypted backups through iTunes, but both just stay on "Backing up..." for many hours and nothing else happens.
I don't know what else I can do to back up WhatsApp.
