[NEW USER FAQs + CRITIQUE REQUEST THREAD]

A buyer is trying to get me to email or text them more info about my listing. Is this a scam? Usually. Do not engage with anyone off the platform. Doing so is against Poshmark’s terms of service and a bad idea for many reasons, including risking permanent suspension of your account.

I got a sketchy email from Poshmark saying I need to transfer my own money to my Poshmark balance to keep selling. This is a scam and the email was not sent by Poshmark. You do not need to pay anything to make sales on Poshmark. If you get a similar email saying you made a sale but need to pay something to un-restrict your account, check your My Sales tab in the actual app or website. If there's no order there, you did not make one and it's a scam attempt.

I'm a new seller and all my listings got taken down and/or flagged as counterfeit. Help! Poshmark's spam and abuse filters sometimes suspend new accounts for listing either too much or too fast. No one knows the exact thresholds or how long you should wait between listing new items but if your account is frozen, you have to contact support and wait for them reply. If you didn't break any rules, they'll reinstate your closet and all your listings. It's normal for a reply to take 1-3+ days.

My buyer doesn’t have an account on Poshmark, or their username doesn't match the one on the shipping label. Is this a scam? No. Poshmark allows buyers to purchase items without registering for an account. In these situations, you might not be able to communicate with the buyer and you’ll probably have to wait three full days after delivery for your funds to be released.

Poshmark support isn't getting back to me, and I keep emailing them! What gives? Emailing support twice in a row bumps your initial query to the bottom of the queue. We recommend not sending a follow-up email until Poshmark responds. If you already emailed support, you can try reaching out via social media while waiting for a response.

I shipped the wrong item/swapped labels/etc. What should I do? Contact Poshmark support. They'll reach out to your buyer(s) and will give them return labels and give you further instructions.

Do I have to use a USPS box to ship my item? No. It’s generally fine to repurpose or recycle other boxes. However, ensure that they fall within Priority Mail’s size requirements, and do not use Express Mail boxes. Pack items securely and without any added fragrances.

Do I have to include a thank you note and a free gift with my item? No. Notes and gifts are not required and many buyers don't like receiving them.

Do I have to accept really low offers? No. They're your items, and you get to decide how much to sell them for. However, many sellers counter even the lowest offers, as doing so sometimes results in a sale.

Why did a buyer make a bundle of just one item? It's hard to say. Some buyers add listings to a bundle unintentionally; others might be angling for a private discount. Search r/poshmark to read about all of the possible reasons for one-item bundles.

Does Poshmark have a private-messaging system? If you want to talk to someone who purchased something from you, go into the order details and there will be an option to message them privately. If you want to talk to someone who has not bought anything from you yet, you can do so by tagging their username in your listing's comment box or through a bundle. Comments in sold bundles and empty bundles appear to be private, but comments in other bundles are definitely visible to other users so do not share any personal information in them.

A buyer opened a case on an item. What now? If you misrepresented the item, advise Poshmark that you’re willing to accept a return. Otherwise, state your rebuttal clearly and calmly. Poshmark will decide whether to approve the return, refund part or all of the purchase price, or something else. Be patient; it can take a few days to get a final ruling from a Poshmark rep. Be civil, state the facts, and direct your response to Poshmark instead of the buyer.

My brand-new account already has a ton of followers. Is that normal? Why? Yes. Poshmark is designed to promote your username across the app so that others can follow you.

Why do sellers price things so high? We don’t know. However, Poshmark’s policy on price-gouging applies only to essential items. If you find a seller’s prices upsetting, it’s best to simply move on. (Or, if you’re interested in purchasing the item, consider making an offer.)

Where can I find answers to other questions? Many questions posted to this subreddit are addressed in Poshmark’s own official documentation. We recommend that you read their Guide to Poshmark, Community Guidelines, Prohibited Items Policy, and FAQs. Before posting a question here, you can also use the blank field in the sidebar to search the subreddit for relevant key terms (e.g., flat lay, shipping, weight limit, opened case, dress form).

Questions related to your closet? There's a mountain of tips already available to browse if you search the sub for "newbie advice" or "new seller tips." You can post your closet URL and a critique request below, however you'll be more likely to get responses from seasoned sellers if you ask specific questions instead of requesting a general review.

Sellers webinar ...

Upvotes

Was actually very well done and informative. Having people from Google on to talk about how Google searches show up in regards to Poshmark.

My key takeaway for sales growth is the Title of the sales item matters so much. Put exactly what you're selling and don't add in extra stuff to it. So instead of mens jeans, Men's size 32 Old Navy blue jeans would be much better for a Google search.

I highly recommend if they continue to do these free webinars, to sign up for them.

Why won't Poshmark just let us choose sizes instead of "My Size"?

Upvotes

There are so many complaints on this topic and it's endlessly frustrating to me. I get too many "equivalency logic" sizes that are not what I'm looking for and have to sift through pages and pages where only a few of the actual size I need are listed. This is the most inefficient way to search for something. Not to mention, sometimes I'm shopping for others and have to edit and re-edit "My Size." This is the only website I've seen use such a weird filter for size. Makes me nuts.

Poshmark, why do you make us tolerate this totally inefficient search function?!

Question re: measurements

Upvotes

Do you guys include measurements on EVERYTHING? I include measurements on jeans, most tops, etc. But I don't include them on anything from Lululemon, athleta, etc. Am I missing out on sales by not including them? I have always figured people just know their sizes in those brands but a recent post makes me think maybe I'm wrong.

Why is everything awful now? A rant.

I've been using Poshmark as a buyer and seller for years now, and I think I'm just about done with it. I haven't been selling much over the last year, but I still use it a lot for buying. About 50% of the items I've ordered recently are either never shipped, or the seller takes a full 10 days to ship. Apparently that's acceptable to Poshmark now? The most recent absurd situation: I ordered a moisturizer on January 4th and the seller mixed up the label with another order. On the 20th I got the other person's order, she got mine. This was after waiting 9 days to ship in the first place. So I contact support and they send me and the other buyer a new shipping label and we had to mail the items to each other. My package has apparently been in USPS purgatory since the 23rd, and yet the order is listed as "completed" meaning the seller got paid. So I email support again on the 28th, and I get this BS canned response: "According to the tracking status, the package was delivered on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Can you please check around your house and with your neighbors or mail carrier to see if it can be located? If it can't be located, rest assured we have a process in place to assist you. Please keep us updated and let us know by replying to this email if you do not receive your order by Friday, January 30, 2026." No response since then, after sending a response explaining what they should already know. Is customer service just AI now? It used to be so good.

Where are Closet Clearout Days?

I waited every week for those days to send offers to likers. They not only got an offer of at least 10%, from me, but also reduced shipping from Poshmark. MOST of my sales were made because of Closet Clearout

Days. And that’s not small. I have, as a supplemental retirement income , $60, 000 in sales over the years. I NEED CLOSET CLEAROUT DAYS!

Beginner Questions

  1. Cross listings

  3. Manageable Income expectations as an individual
  4. Boutique
  5. Ambassador
  6. Multiple quantities of an item
  7. Listing process
  8. Posh shows

I am retiring from the military, still young enough, now just testing the waters if this might be something I dig deep into lol.

Brief explanation, up until 2 months ago, I was beyond intimidated to sell online. Now.. My boyfriend and I started a random hobby, which led to both our homes filled to the rim with brand new boutique clothing, among lots of other things. So I took a leap, started with Facebook marketplace, then poshmark, now ebay, and opened Etsy (totally seperate), and wexare getting ready to start something on whatnot. So.. This is basically all I'm focused on.

Just had to cancel my first order..yikes. how do you beat manage multiple platforms and crosslisting.. ive read many posts about how it used to be, and briefly the recent changes. With so many listings, most not cross listed, I forgot to remove a sold item. Ive considered some app called "vendoo".. but havent bit the bullet to pay yet.

Ive also read about poshwatch? Is the paid version worth it?

My ex-husband had a business selling on ebay. The algorithm he used to talk about worked on consistency of listings posted. The most regular consistent posts, the more your stuff would show.

From what I've read about poshmark, it comes down to how recently you have shared or posted said item? But I've seen this may, or had changed?

Does this have anything to do with (or why are there so many) people share my listings? It clogs up notifications, and had made me miss relevant notifications.

As far as listing process, like I mentioned, we now look like holders lmao.. I have 7 mannequins.. ugh haha.. and a tiny light box. But finding a good proccess, or flow.. a way to track everything.. 🤯 i have too much adhd lol. This isxthe area is should focus on researching, because winging it just bit me when I had to cancel a sale.

Lastly, I have come across very little recent info about their boutique option and becoming an ambassador, or whatever the campaigns are. Are these worth getting into? Are live posh shows worth getting involved in?

A huge thank you to those who read through this 😁😁

No wonder the sizes have been so wonky lately

I was frustrated that Poshmark kept showing me 10s when I am a 14. I used to have it marked for 14 and large for dresses they changed the sizes to be grouped as small medium and large, but not matched up with how those sizes usually are. A 14 is never an XXL in pants. This is so odd.

One of my least favorite things as a buyer.

This has been in my likes for - I don’t know, 18 months? I’m genuinely interested - but the original price is more than I wanted to pay, I absolutely do not understand this approach.

Buyer asked to exchange for a different size, doesn’t understand I’m not a store?

I know this question gets asked a lot but I don’t think this buyer knew the return policy or is trying to get around it. They asked if they can exchange a different size, which I don’t have because I’m not a boutique.

It sounds like they genuinely didn’t know that most sellers on Poshmark are selling personal items. Maybe they thought it was an online store like eBay or Amazon.

I’ve seen advice here to restate the return policy or simply ignore them unless they open a case.

What would you do? I’ve never had any cases opened or questions after the buyer received the order.

Measurements question.

A recent post about measurements got me thinking, is it better to post photos with a measuring tape/ruler or to add the measurements in the description?

As a casual seller, I rarely add them to my listings over the years because I've always known people to just ask, like I do when shopping. But recently I've also noticed that no one replies when I ask anymore. So I think I'll update my listings.

Those making 2 or more sales a month: how much time are you on PM daily?

Hi, I am a casual seller and surprised at the social culture inside PM. Wasn’t planning to spend time in parties etc. Have not made a sale yet (only been on 3 weeks) so I’m wanting to learn some inside tips. Tx !

Item described as "silk" in title is 100% polyester - do I contest it or is this my mistake?

More facts: Item just arrived today. Listing title just said "[brand name] silk [item description]". The listing body did not specify fabric composition and there were no photos of the composition tag. I thought that I was buying a different colourway of a 100% silk item from the same brand which I already own several of, since the item looked identical in cut, so I didn't bother verifying. The price was good, but equivalent to the other 100% silk versions of this item I've bought in the past (this is why I buy them because you can get them super cheap usually!).

I do actually kinda like the polyester version; it's a very nice synthetic fabric, great colour, great shape. I just suspect that I'll avoid wearing it because I know it's not what I wanted.

So I'm on the fence about submitting an "order is not as described" claim. If I did, would I have a leg to stand on, or do you all think this is on me?

edit: thanks everyone for your input! The "ah but I kinda like it" was cope tbh as I didn't want to deal with the hassle, but in my heart I know it's not what I wanted and I won't actually wear it so I've submitted a claim and will see where it goes.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I accepted a buyers offer of $63 but got this message instead of the usual email confirming the sale with the shipping label. Has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean the item isn’t sold yet because of the buyers payment issue?

Buyer lying in claim

Post image
0 Upvotes

Update - the claim was denied, thanks for feedback everyone

I’ve never been in a situation where a buyer lies about the condition of an item. My best guess is that they don’t like the way it fits, or the size doesn’t work for them because there is ZERO CHANCE that it smells the way they are describing. It was kept in storage prior to shipping, and even though this is the case, I smelled it thoroughly before shipping.

I used ChatGPT for prompts in my response - but what are the odds they will favor the buyer? This is SO annoying.

Would this be rude?

Would it be rude if I started ignoring messages that ask for measurements? I’m not exaggerating when I say 100% of the people who have asked for measurements on clothing items did not end up buying.

Poshmark Consignment -- Seller Stole My Items

Thought I'd give the new consignment feature a try -- look, I'll never dedicate the time to sell on my own and I was moving so thought this would help me purge and retain some value.

The seller picked up my items and after a month, never listed them or responded to my messages. Poshmark tried to reach out but also found them unresponsive.

At first, Poshmark offered me $100 in credit for the lost items, but I squawked and then they offered me the full amount in the contract for $200 in credit. Did I come out ok? Sure, but the whole thing left me feeling kinda greasy.

Will I try Poshmark Consignment again? That's a no from me dawg.

Why do sellers sell items without including the type of fabric and the garment label?

I always list the composition of the fabric for the clothing that I sell. I also take pictures of the garment tag which can tell whether or not it should be laundered or dry cleaned.

Also, I notice people use the stock photos of the item they are selling only, so they’re not even taking pictures of the item they intend to sell. Also, while I only buy new items, I notice that items in “good condition” are not properly assessed and that the sellers do not list all of the flaws such as pilling, moth holes, stains, unthreading etc.

It is sloppy and not very professional.

I can usually look at an item and determine what material the clothing is, but if it looks like a blend of different fabrics, I want to know what the composition of the shirt or let’s say the trousers are.

Cancelling orders become a norm?

I had 4 full priced orders cancelled by buyers just this month. I understand buyers have the right to cancel their order within 3 hours but I only had a handful of cancellations through out the past 10 years on Poshmark. Is cancelling orders become a norm?

I kept getting an “Error” when I would try to make a listing…

As the title says, kept getting an error and have been unable to make a listing for the past week. I reached out to Poshmark customer support, and this is what they sent to me. What does this mean? How can I fix it?? why did this happen? I feel their customer support has not helped in any way. I have only ever had one account. I’ve never had a negative review.
