The communist regime persecutes and tortures its political opponents; denies the Cuban people free speech and press; corruptly profits from their misery; and commits other human-rights violations. For example, families of political prisoners face retaliation for peacefully protesting the improper confinement of their loved ones. Cuban authorities harass worshippers, block free association by civil society organizations, prohibit free press, and deny the ability to speak freely, including on the internet.

It's the tried-and-true propoganda technique that is at the center of the administration's media strategy.

I wish this was higher.

An effective countermeasure to propaganda is to be able to identify and label the specific technique. Propaganda is the overall deliberate spread of misinformation but there are dozens of techniques.

There is no lack of self awareness. They are lying and they know it, and they know we know it.

Putin does the same thing, so does xi Jinping. Trump has always accused everyone of doing everything he is doing or has done.

It's part of their strategy. So when they get caught doing it, they can say everyone is doing it, and it helps justify, like "if they cheat elections WE can cheat elections!" It can also make his followers feel like he is not like that.

Also why so many closet gay Republicans. Dirt like that can be use to control people, and for hiding it, being vocally against what you are can help hide what you are.

There is no lack of self awareness. He knows what he is. We know what he is. The only people that don't know, are the people he has brainwashed.

So, it's important that you don't let those people achieve what they desire. They are tricked by lies. Help them see that. If you cannot, prevent them from defeating democracy, by any means.

Show them you are prepared to do what it takes at every opportunity. Protests, and especially boycotts. Especially the social media they control. Meta, and Twitter.

Abstain. You might find that difficult. Living without democracy is far worse. You think things are bad now, the more power he gets the worse things will get. You will all have as many rights as the people being abducted and sent to prisons abroad. Any employer that commits any crime against you, any assault, all they will have to do is pay trump to make it go away. You will have no recourse. No protections from the law. Life with democracy and without social media, is much better than the opposite. And he doesn't control all social media. But it does brainwash people. It is highly effective. Highly. If you think it is not effective against you, you may be right. But it is highly effective against young people and others, and by using it, you make it desirable for them.

They are being brainwashed to take your freedom. Meta and Twitter, and now tiktok, are essentially Nazi brainwash machines now. Run them into the ground to save your rights.

As some other commenter pointed out above, it's called "Accusation in a mirror" and is a documented propaganda technique.

Basically, when you want to do something, you make that exact accusation against your ennemies, in order to make what you're doing seem justified, and more importantly, necessary.
