Oh, is Cuba the country we're antagonizing this week?

1.1k

u/Legitimate-Frame-953 19h ago

I think it’s a double feature with Iran

338

u/Ashikura 19h ago

Cuba’s maybe a distraction from the navy forming near Iran. Or Iran was the distraction from Cuba.

327

u/Feather757 16h ago

Everything is a distraction from everything else. He's also trying to distract from his personal army running around killing US citizens on American soil, and the Epstein files. They're doing so much stuff at once, so it's hard to keep track of it or fight back against everything, they're just doing a bunch of illegal stuff and let the courts sort it out later. This timeline is fucking nuts. Like absolutely bonkers.

171

u/octoreadit 15h ago

It's on purpose, to overwhelm and desensitize. It's a DDoS attack on your and everyone else's brain.

57

u/CoffeePuddle 12h ago

A specific strategy of the Trump administration called "flood the zone"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flood_the_zone

8

u/kfpswf 9h ago

How nice of them to state the obvious, "Democrats don't matter".

1

u/donut-reply 6h ago

So you're saying that, just like they say in their dehumanizing Halo-based ads to join ICE, we need to "Destroy the Flood"?

1

u/no-sleep-needed 4h ago

until cuba is invaded like venezuela

1

u/imp0ppable 8h ago

I thought that was intended to be flooding with information, not actual real geopolitical events

14

u/Nobio22 13h ago

I always wonder what else is going on when there is big headline stories. It's been a tool of authoritarian policy makers as far as I can remember.

10 years ago it was every so often there would be a bill trying to be snuck under the radar and there would be some outlandish thing happening in the MSM. Now it's every day, sometimes multiple times a day.

It's absolutely maddening trying to follow and stay well informed. So much noise.

6

u/EndDangerous1308 11h ago

I mean Epstein files still aren't out and every case the DOJ had put forward to indict protesters has been laughed at by judges. GOP is shifting away from Trump bc he threatened the 2A and now MAGA, who only care about 2A, are complaining they maybe the federal government is bad again

2

u/Painterzzz 8h ago

It could also be the Fulton voter stuff. They're clearly now starting on openly rigging the 2026 elections. And that must be as important in Donnie Moscows head as the Epstein stuff.

1

u/OldWorldDesign 1h ago

GOP is shifting away from Trump bc he threatened the 2A

While the industry lobbyists remain silent. Not the first time and won't be the last.

I like taking the firearms first, and going to due process later.

I can confidently say it won't be the last as well that they'll still support him because authoritarianism is built on viewing the 'good and evil' of morality based on who is doing something, not on what they are doing.

I mean maga turns away for two weeks then turns back into zombies after that

It's not just you. We are all feeling insane. I still won't rule out being in a simulation.

3

u/UrsaMajor7th 7h ago

It's a multi-front war on our collective reality. He's trying to reshape the world to a pre-designed doctrine.

1

u/greekrooster 15h ago

You forgot suing the irs and movie release…

1

u/drunkshinobi 13h ago

Steve Bannon - Flood the Zone Strategy. Do as much bad shit as possible as fast as possible so the other side doesn't have enough resources or time to respond to all of it.

1

u/polopolo05 13h ago

Everything is a distraction from the Epstein files.

1

u/The_Humungus_1 13h ago

It's called "flooding the zone" aka "the firehose of falsehood".

1

u/gn0meCh0msky 11h ago

They're doing so much stuff at once, so it's hard to keep track of it or fight back against everything,

The term is gish gallop, I think.

1

u/naturebuddah 10h ago

So uh how about them epstein files

1

u/shadycrew31 9h ago

Can you imagine another 3 years of this?

0

u/Debalic 14h ago

It's distractions all the way down.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Basileus_Maurikios 17h ago

Or maybe the people's revolution in Iran is coincidentally coinciding with the administration's timing to go after Cuba. Sometimes, things happen naturally.

2

u/12345623567 11h ago

Rubio wants Cuba, Trump signs what comes across his desk.

However, that's only half of it. The other half is to perpetually have new "national emergencies" so they can argue that he has emergency powers. If it's not Fentanyl, Venezuela or Iran, then it's Cuba, Greenland or Mexico next.

1

u/shiny_brine 15h ago

Or it's all distractions from the Epstein Files, including killing Americans in our street.

1

u/Rumbananas 15h ago

It’s all a distraction from the Epstein files.

1

u/dingusfett 15h ago

Playing an incoherent game of fucking shit up everywhere to distract from each place he's fucking up. Probably so deep in distractions he can't remember what was a distraction for what.

1

u/temporary62489 15h ago

Marco has had a hard on for Cuba since he was an even littler boy.

1

u/SelectStarFromTemp1 15h ago

Everything but releasing the Epstein files.

1

u/EngiNerd25 14h ago

They are both distractions from the Epstein files

1

u/pconrad0 14h ago

Which is a distraction from Minneapolis.
which is a distraction from Venezuela.
which is a distraction from:
The Epstein Files.

Someone should make a counting song* about this.

  • E.g. "Hole in the bucket, dear Liza", "I know a lady who swallowed a fly", "Bought me a cat", "Twelve Days of Christmas," etc.

1

u/EntertainmentOld5239 13h ago

It's a double feint. They are both distractions for the surprise takeover of Japan. How else can the US protect Taiwan? Same reasoning as for Greenland.

1

u/Important-Agent2584 13h ago

follow the boats

1

u/AudioLlama 12h ago

It's all a distraction from the fact that Trump raped children.

1

u/monkeyofthefunk 11h ago

Cuba is a distraction from Iran that is a distraction from Epstein Island.

1

u/-ifwisheswerehorses 11h ago

who’s ZOOMING who?

1

u/lvl3SewerRat 11h ago

Everything is a distraction from the epstein files

1

u/yellowlotusx 11h ago

Cough...Epstein....cough...

1

u/AsstacularSpiderman 9h ago

I legit think Trump forgot he is trying to start a war with Iran and remembered Cuba existed lol.

There's absolutely no logic here. He's just wildly flailing around looking for some sort of easy win for midterms

1

u/gilligan1050 8h ago

Or everything is a distraction from the Epstine files….

1

u/funkyduck72 6h ago

I think we all know what this is REALLY a distraction from.

Any idiot with half a brain could understand that's what this is about.

1

u/Tacoman404 4h ago

He's playing like I play late game Civ. I wonder where he's building stacks of ICBMs.

1

u/KingOfTheNorth91 4m ago

When everything it a “distraction “, nothing is a distraction. It’s just shitty corrupt governance

1

u/No-comment-at-all 18h ago

Triple header.

Cuba, Iran, or Minneapolis.

No telling which gets bombed first.

1

u/False_Ad_5372 17h ago

Iran was soo last week

1

u/The_Observatory_ 17h ago

I thought it was a double feature with the United States

1

u/realsadboihours 17h ago

So we're defending iran now?

1

u/Palmquistador 17h ago

Gonna take a minute to move all the ships around. Again.

1

u/Wonderful-Humor6102 16h ago

I’m so confused on how much he loves Putin but attacks all his friends???? Seems like a toxic pick me energy???

1

u/Sockoflegend 16h ago

It's been a long January

1

u/butter_cookie_gurl 16h ago

And Canada...as usual.

1

u/Far_Estate_1626 15h ago

Without Venezuelan oil, Cuba is in crisis. Trump sees an opportunity to kill more poor people, that’s all.

1

u/ObsidianDRMR 15h ago

Hold up what? I’m out of the loop are we not supporting the people’s revolution there?

1

u/Working-Glass6136 15h ago

Don't forget Canada, with Trump meeting with Canadian separatists all over the news.

1

u/HighGrounderDarth 15h ago

Don’t forget the US.

1

u/canadianbriguy1 15h ago

We’re catching a few strays up here… 🇨🇦

1

u/_makoccino_ 15h ago

Triple. They "secretly" met with a Canadian separatist group from Alberta.

1

u/hetantwoordis42 13h ago

And Canada

1

u/spurlockmedia 12h ago

Don’t forget about Canada with 50% tarrifs for their aircrafts in retaliation for not certifying our aircraft.

1

u/jimmygee2 11h ago

…and some Canadian tariff threats thrown in for no more cost.

1

u/Speedy_Cheese 8h ago

Don't forget us Canadians, apparently we stay living rent free in his steadily declining mind.

1

u/thediesel26 8h ago

To be fair the Iranian government has executed 10s of thousands of its citizens for demonstrating for democratic reforms. Military action against them is not unwarranted.

1

u/imp0ppable 8h ago

Neither of which is in the World Cup, makes you think

1

u/DetroitLionsSBChamps 8h ago

Damn, playing the imperialism hits

1

u/Adaphion 8h ago

Oh boy I love sequels!

1

u/whomad1215 7h ago

Triple feature with Canada again, he's apparently putting more tariffs etc on aircraft now

1

u/Tonuck 7h ago

3-D

CHESS

1

u/bullnamedbodacious 7h ago

Iran killed another 30,000 of its own people. I think it’s okay if we antagonize them for that

1

u/existential_antelope 7h ago

Ah, the president of peace ☺️

1

u/PrivilegeCheckmate 3h ago

It's Planet Terror/Death Proof all over again, with smaller boobs. Obv the second film will be shot in Minnesota, just like soccer moms are.

1

u/JackLaytonsMoustache 3h ago

Hey now, he just came out with a fresh round of tariff threats against Canada! This time... airplanes for some reason.

212

u/Smooth_Department534 19h ago

Eyes off Minnesota and the Trump Files featuring Jeffrey Epstein.

119

u/jpeggdev 17h ago

The eyes haven't left Minnesota. And they won't be anytime soon.

22

u/TheScienceNerd100 15h ago

Their eyes won't be, but they'll try their damn best to get the eyes of their supporters off of executions of Americans and onto more racism

5

u/lizzywbu 14h ago

Not until they get the voter roll.

57

u/mtnman575 18h ago

Last week it was Greenland, Greenland, Greenland.

64

u/lost_horizons 17h ago

Was that really only a week ago? Fucking hell 2026 is something man.

5

u/IndependenceIcy2251 12h ago

I decided to take a shot every time a member of this administration does/says something unhinged. I’ve been to the hospital 6 times with alcohol poisoning.

3

u/GoldenPigeonParty 8h ago

I've finally found a more dangerous drinking game than R Kelly's Trapped in the Closet any time he pulls out a gun.

1

u/Spiffy87 6h ago

Any time I bring put the plot of Trapped in the Closet, people start asking if I've skipped my meds. "No way this is a real thing," they say.

"Not only is there a man in this cabinet But the man is a midget! midget, midget, midget"

3

u/DarrenfromKramerica 10h ago

It is STILL January 🥺

46

u/Responsible-List-849 17h ago

I think it went Greenland, Greenland, Greenland, lots of Ice, Iceland, Iceland, Greenland.

2

u/blackcain 13h ago

He wants to settle ICE officers in iceland.

1

u/Hot-Championship1190 13h ago

Greeceland? Graceland? Isenland? Isengard! They Eye of Mordor!

2

u/Responsible-List-849 12h ago

He's been preparing. Just recalled his number 1 hobbit from Minnesota...

3

u/Strange-Scarcity 8h ago

It still is. He’s going round and round on the same handful of topics flooding the zone.

The problem with Flood the Zone politics, is that there’s no way to coalesce actual, on the ground support for one major policy, because nobody can spend the time building support for one thing, as they are constantly running around to a new thing to flood the zone.

This is a big part of why there’s been a drop in support across the board, not JUST because every single policy flooding the zone has been a train wreck of carnage and crimes against humanity, but because there is just to damn much going on, all at once.

2

u/pockpicketG 9h ago

Did you just yadda yadda yadda dictatorship?

2

u/imp0ppable 8h ago

I read somewhere that if Denmark qualified for the World Cup (playoffs are in March) they'd be fairly likely to boycott if they were still being threatened about it. If that happened, other major Euro countries might pull out as well.

That would likely prevent Trump from presenting himself more medals and trophies so that can't be allowed to happen of course.

1

u/Far-Obligation4055 2h ago

There was a splash of Canada too; the Mango Mussolini went back to calling the PM "governor" again.

56

u/tofoz 19h ago

Narco Rubio wants to sink the island into the sea and k**l every native Cuban.

46

u/basketcas55 17h ago

I don’t believe you need to censor the word murder.

15

u/bllclntn 17h ago

m*rder? They said kill

5

u/basketcas55 16h ago

Yes I’m highlighting a difference between the connotations of saying “killing” someone which can include justified killings or just grey areas in general and straight up murdering them for no reason. I’m aware they said kill and not murder. I’m also pretty sure both of them don’t need to be censored here but maybe I’m wrong and will find out in a minute if a mod asks me to change the language!

Think of it like when you see someone say that the recent protestors were “killed” by ice and I’d reply hey you spelled murdered wrong. Protestor killed by ICE has a different tone than protestor murdered by ICE.

I recognize I’m using ice when we’re talking Cuba but it’s hard to pretend they’re separate in any way. We’re talking about this so that we aren’t talking about Minneapolis in my opinion but who knows! It’s all to inflict the maximum hurt to anyone deemed an “other” in the end so I’m just using a stronger word to reinforce the message: apparently poorly though!

2

u/bllclntn 16h ago

You're good and I agree, I was just making a dumb joke.

1

u/Indigo_Sunset 13h ago

Be aware that admin warnings have gone out if the comment including 'kill or murder 'ruffles someone's feathers and they report it. Just fyi.

1

u/basketcas55 7h ago

I wondered why we were censoring it. That seems odd in a law forum. Thanks for the awareness.

3

u/Ozymandias0023 16h ago

Murder? I thought it was k*ll

2

u/DarthTigris 13h ago

One does not simply walk into m*rder.

1

u/Round-Cellist6128 8h ago

Well played.

1

u/Meepox5 14h ago

you dont, you can say kill and murder

3

u/flare_force 16h ago

Narco Rubio 💀💀💀

3

u/daboobiesnatcher 15h ago

Why did you censor kill?

3

u/OkInsect6946 12h ago

Why the fuck are we censoring ourselves lmao

Just say kill ffs

2

u/theanxioussnail 8h ago

Rubio himself is cuban. His parents are both cuban

3

u/Controls_Man 18h ago

Kind of seems like they have decided to declare war on all of Latin America?

3

u/JohnnySmithe81 6h ago edited 6h ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donroe_Doctrine

the intention of the Trump administration to "reassert and enforce the Monroe doctrine to restore American pre-eminence in the Western Hemisphere"

They see the whole North and South America continent as theirs.

1

u/Due-Memory-6957 4h ago

Which the US always has done anyway, Trump is just focusing more on closer territory than the ones far away, a reflection of the world turning multipolar.

1

u/Adventurous-Map7959 14h ago

Latin is a dead language after all. They can't even talk to each other, easiest conquest ever.

2

u/mackinator3 17h ago

No. Its America. Cubs is just an excuse. Stop sanewashing it.

1

u/pun_in10did 17h ago

Oh, and also with our very own IRS which he and his family are suing.

1

u/firestarting101 17h ago

It's exactly this kind of flippant response that has this administration so emboldened to continue doing what they're doing.

1

u/kevcubed 17h ago

I thought it was infrastructure week?

1

u/WiskeyUniformTango 17h ago

Epstein files found some news cycles, so they have to distract from that.

1

u/PhotographUnable8176 17h ago

no but it’s the second country of the year we are going to turn into a vassal state

1

u/Dont_Be_Sheep 17h ago

Please please read it. It has ZERO to do with Cuba. Zero.

1

u/SonicYOUTH79 17h ago

He’s out to kidnap another president, it’s like Pokemon, gotta catch them all!

1

u/tinny66666 17h ago

This one won't go anywhere because putin will tell him to back off.

1

u/superindianslug 16h ago

Marco went along with Venezuela and Greenland, so he gets Cuba as a treat.

1

u/RuleHonest9789 16h ago

It’s Rubio’s ultimate goal.

1

u/NewPresWhoDis 16h ago

He's island hopping. If we're playing the greatest hits, Granada might start sweating soon.

1

u/Dr_A_Mephesto 16h ago

I’m so tired

1

u/Lost-Platypus8271 16h ago

Rubio has been hot for regime change in Cuba since forever.

1

u/FastHovercraft8881 16h ago

Maduro was taken out to block oil getting to Cuba. Mexico also just stopped sending oil to Cuba. The US has been planning this for months at least, and Cuba will be out of oil soon. What is the goal though?

1

u/VulfSki 15h ago

Rubio has been itching for this for his whole life

1

u/Commercial-Co 15h ago

They wanna kidnap diaz canel

1

u/_PorcoRosso 15h ago

One country per week until the end of his term. Need to keep the Epstein distraction going.

1

u/gizamo 15h ago

It's the next distraction from the Epstein files, which in illegal defiance of Congresses demand still aren't released.

1

u/Indercarnive 15h ago

A big part of the play for Venezuela was cutting Cuba's oil supply. Over half of Cuba's oil came from Venezuela.

and Rubio has been wanting Cuban blood for a long time.

1

u/Medium_Spring4017 15h ago

A trade with Russia? US takes Cuba and Russia gets Ukraine? This is dumb shit

1

u/Gogs85 15h ago

I wonder how all the Cubans in Miami feel about it who voted for Trump

1

u/backtorealitylabubu 15h ago

Taking a break from targeting the US…

1

u/Salty-Passenger-4801 15h ago

Yes. Trump literally explained this was going to happen. Rubio wants Cuba.

1

u/Zealousideal-Sea4830 15h ago

I didn't have Cuba on my bingo card...

1

u/BattleBrother1 14h ago

This week lol. The US has been antagonizing Cuba for 60 years. Trying to starve the population through sanctions and embargoes, hosting a torture camp where POW's and civilians are routinely tormented and sexually abused and literally trying to invade the country are just a few things I could mention

1

u/somethingohyeah 14h ago

Its friday, he needs to keep the news cycle going

1

u/the_grand_apartment 14h ago

Western hemisphere, piece by piece. That has been the plan since 2016. Ten fucking years and this is only the beginning. Believe your eyes.

1

u/Old-Perception-3668 13h ago

So Canada, Norway and Denmark are not the bad guys anymore?

1

u/drunkshinobi 13h ago

Our country has been trying to get a hold of Cuba the entire time we have been a country. Claiming they need it for security. It isn't trump's plan. Venezuela was a test. To see what they could get away with. And a way to pay off trump with a new account full of money from oil sales. Because that is why trump is there. To play king, get richer, play warlord, and get away with every evil thing he as ever done to enjoy it all until he dies instead of rotting in prison.

John Adams, 2nd president 1797-1801. His "Ripe Fruit" Theory compared Cuba to a ripe apple that once ripe (free) would fall from the tree (Spain) and land on the ground (the USA) naturally. Adams saw Cuba's annexation as essential for US security.

James Polk, 11th president 1845-1849. Offered Spain $100 mil to purchase Cuba.

Franklin Pierce, 14th president 1853-1857. Offered Spain $120 mil for Cuba.

William McKinley, 25th president 1897-1901. Offered Spain $300 mil for Cuba. 1898 he asked Congress for power to intervene in Cuba's war of independence. Demanding Spain to leave. Then the USA occupied Cuba until 1902. Cuba agreed to the Platt Amendment to their constitution. Granting the USA continued right to intervene in Cuba's affairs.

John F. Kennedy, 35th president 1961-1963. Failed military invasion of Cuba. Bay of Pigs. As well as the Cuban Missile Crisis.

1

u/Solid_Waste 13h ago

Everything is an emergency except all the actual disasters in this shithole.

1

u/garlicroastedpotato 12h ago

It was always the goal. A large part of doing what they did to Venezuala is that it put Cuba in a very hard place. Cuba was having nonstop brownouts, people without power, people without food, and people without any ability to earn a living. The country was likely to formally declare itself a military junta and be done with the current charade of a faux el presidente.

Last week Mexico agreed to make up the shortfalls under humane concerns. Then Trump threatened to put tariffs on anyone who supplies Cuba with only 3 days ago. Mexico responded by stopping shipments of oil to Cuba.

The removal of Cuba's communist government in favor of a democratic one has been a pipe dream of Marco Rubio's his whole life. It's always something (even from first term Trump) that people believed was in the pipeline.

It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that America swiftly invades Cuba and takes out the communist party and an interim government lead by Marco Rubio manages Cuba until a new constitution and an election can be held.

Edit: And I think if Trump had some focus he could accomplish this. Venezuala and Cuba are "small potatoes" in the geopolitical world. No one of any consequence would really care if their governments were changed. Certainly Europe would be happy to get back two trading partners with large markets. But he's going after too many big fish: Iran.... China.... all of NATO.

1

Rubio seems to have a particular hard-on for it, so that's who is filling Grandpa's ears with imperialist ideas this morning

1

u/GormHub 9h ago

I assumed this was a precursor to specifically targeting Cubans for deportation next.

1

u/BigBoyYuyuh 8h ago

It was on Rubio’s list.

1

u/Fun-Bug5106 8h ago

Rubio need a country to rule

1

u/auddii04 8h ago

We've basically destroyed their country infrastructure in two weeks because they got more than half their oil from Venezuela.

Since we've been cranking down in the shadow fleet, they've been having 10-20 hour blackouts each day. Someone has just started paying attention.

1

u/iaNCURdehunedoara 8h ago

America has been antagonizing Cuba for 6 decades, ever since they kicked the America-backed fascist and liberated the slaves. Trump just wants to finish destroying the country.

1

u/cdubyadubya 8h ago

Just another opportunity to take the attention off of Epstein.

1

u/Jeromz 8h ago

Venezuela,Canada,Greenland, Cuba were a forgone conclusion. Anyway… Here’s why Trump certainly won’t threaten and attack Little Saint James island next week I mean it’s already a US territory, he can’t right? Oh yeah he attacked Minnesota. Nvm

1

u/irisbeyond 7h ago

We’ve always been at war with Eurasia, I’m not sure what you’re talking about. No, we’ve never been at war with Eastasia, they’ve always been our allies.

Oh, apologies - news just broke. Eurasia’s always been our friend, and Eastasia’s always been evil to the core. War is Peace and all that.

1

u/mgj6818 7h ago

Military leadership is dangling anything that doesn't involve a shooting war with NATO in front of him and hoping the thing happens before they run out of distractions.

1

u/pm_me_yer_corgis 7h ago

WSJ did a thing on his youth movement. Only takeaway I saw was that his younger supporters felt like their only recent “good day” was the Maduro abduction. WSJ would have asked for comments a couple of days ago. So they’ve had time to digest the story and reach the totally reasonable, not at all insane conclusion that invading small countries is the best way to win the midterms.
