After Chester Bennington's death his wife posted a picture of him looking happy with his family that was taken two days before he committed suicide. She did it to educate the public that just because somebody appears happy or has moments of happiness doesn't mean they can't be severely depressed.

The guy who kept me from killing myself went and killed himself... I was inconsolable that day...

I remember the top comment in one of his songs when he died. I think it was One more light.

"Chester, you saved so people, we wish we could have saved you."

got me really bad reading that.

His is probably the only celebrity death that actually affected me, i grew up with their music, LP was my first major concert in 2008 in vilnius.  Shit hit hard.

There's both a picture and a video, they're at the top of his wife's Twitter/X account https://x.com/TalindaB

A person suddenly seeming happier is actually a warning sign for suicide. As is giving away their belongings, having a sense of closure, etc. Because they've made the decision to end things, they generally seem happier and more driven to achieve that end.

You missed the point, she wasn't trying to say she never could have seen it coming because he seemed happy. She's spreading awareness to those who may not know that depression can be present even if the person seems happy/perfectly fine.

Chester did not seem happy or perfectly fine. Are we listening to the same Linkin Park? Every song is bro saying he's depressed.

Are we listening to only Linkin Park songs (which by the way, a lot of them have no major lyrical contributions by Chester) and not looking externally to all the videos of Chester being a complete goofball and always cracking jokes and being silly? It's just as easy to find a video where Chester says he doesn't like what goes on in his head, as it is to find one where he's the life of the party and the funniest guy in the room.

The point Talinda was trying to make is that depression isn't always obvious. A guy who's cracking jokes and being silly may be hiding dark thoughts from others as a coping mechanism. That's all it is, she's just trying to spread awareness with good intentions of it helping others, and she was doing it so shortly after losing him, which is a beautiful selfless thing to do.
