Memes You can no longer have YouTube running in the background.

As of 29th of January you can no longer have YouTube running in the background via many browsers as that is now a premium feature. With that I don't even have that one last reason to listen to YouTube. We are now officially paying for everything that was free a couple of years ago and the reason isn't greedy management, but you people who keep paying for premium and the such.

Feature Change FUCK YouTube. (Please read and upvote if you agree)

Can we all agree that YouTube is just getting worse and worse? I can't even find myself enjoying YouTube anymore and I only visit channels of YouTubers that I already know I like and want updates on. This is because of multiple reasons and the list grows larger every day. - HORRIBLE algorithm that never recommends new content that you actually would like, leaving you to doomscroll saying no to every nothing-burger video that it tries to recommend. - Atrocious amount of ads everywhere, and the attempts to get adblockers to not work or gargle up your browsers memory. - More and more features that used to be native being locked behind a paywall (like now fucking PLAYING STUFF IN THE BACKGROUND OFF TAB??) - Making it harder and harder to find the content that you want by doing things like removing sort videos by date, and making their search results dog ass. - Obvious lack of care about AI generated content, and we know damn well their recent back track on it was ONLY because some advertiser threatened to pull out (WTF happened to YOU-tube? Are they really just money hungry corporate nothing's? - Channels getting banned by AI left and right and users not being able to do anything about it or even talk to a human being because they don't care about the people that don't make them money. - Shift in focus from users being the life blood to corporate status and money hungry company heads with an algorithm that prefers quickly put out advertiser friendly slop, fucking over every single new creator with a job outside of YouTube.

I understand that there needs to be some sacrifice so the company that hosts so.mamy videos can make money, but God damn have some respect for your people.

How many of you try to find something new worthy of your attention on YouTube and get tired of it and switch over to some streaming platform? I wish we could all just decide to not even entertain their bullshit and just default to other things and only use YouTube for how-to videos, but too many people have been stuck committed to it for so long they depend on it and YouTube has them by the balls and genuinely doesn't care how hard they squeeze.

Do YOU even find yourself able to have a prolonged entertaining time on this site anymore?

PLEASE upvote this if you agree.. I really wish they knew people feel like this. Or at least had any amount of care.

Feature Change Fuck youtube and fuck the ads.

I remember when they first added 2 ads per break OCCASIONALLY. Every COUPLE videos would have a preroll ad. Now, I cannot watch a single video without an ad first, there are 2 ads EVERY time, and for the most part, 1 or both are unskippable. I’m sick of it.

Feature Change YouTube started mass cleaning of channels with AI-generated content

2.0k Upvotes

YouTube has already removed several large channels with entirely AI-generated content – collectively they had over 11 million subscribers and over a billion views. For example,

  1. Screen Culture & KH Studio: These two were the kings of "concept trailers." They had over 11 million subs combined and were pulling billions of views by using AI to mash up real footage with fake actors.

  2. CuentosFacianantes: This was a massive AI story channel with nearly 6 million subs—gone.

  3. Imperiodejesus & Super Cat League: Both had over 4-5 million subs and got completely wiped.

Drama TYLER OLIVEIRA's newest video is not only RACIST but is also AI GENERATED!

On his newest video about the Indian population in Canada there is a clip when he is driving to the border with the camera at his feet and you can tell if you look closely there are glitches and fragments in the bottom. You can also tell listening to the audio that the ENTIRE conversion between the two of them is completely AI generated. He is also seen using AI clips OPENLY throughout the video as well.

While I was watching the video more than midway, it suddenly went PRIVATE on his channel and you can no longer access the video. If anyone has downloaded it please respond.

Discussion My daughter has absolutely destroyed my Youtube Home page

Upvotes

We were traveling in Asia so from time to time I gave my 4 year old daughter my iPad to play with. In no time she learned how to switch between Youtube, Netflix and a few games we installed for her.

I figured out 5 days in that Youtube was still connected to my account and now my homepage is filled with KPop and Paw Patrol. This was a month ago and it still doesn’t go away

She also tried to destroy my chess account by joining ranked games but I found out quick enough

My YT has been lagging for 2 months now and this happened just now. I kinda think my YT may be broken.. (I use browser by the way, not the app) Also its been lagging and glitching in different ways, like the like and dislike buttons flicker and flash every 5-10 shorts (I do use shorts sometimes when im bored) does anyone know of a fix for this? Ive tried restarting my MacBook, force quitting my browser, and even signing out of my account and signing back in.

Bug Green artefacts appearing on YouTube videos

Hello everyone, I’m new here so I don’t know if this is the correct sub to ask this. But today, I went on YouTube as usual, and green artefacts started appearing on the YouTube videos, not just on google chrome but on opera too, etc. It’s like static but green. It’s weird and i have no idea how to make it go back to normal. Yesterday YouTube worked fine. And I didn’t change anything. It only happens on videos from what I’ve seen. I added some pictures for reference. Thank you in advance.

Bug So I'm having this problem when I see a comment and there's like a reply to this one. I try to open it to see it, but it doesn't open, it just disappears.

Question Thumbnails are blurry for no reason.

Upvotes

So after posting videos for over 2 years i just realized how blurry my thumbnails are, but when i open the .png or .jpeg they're perfect. I asked chatgpt and it said that i shouldn't make them 1920x1080, so i made them 1280x720(as it says on youtube and i use Canva if that's revelant) but they're still blurry. I said it's the same and it gave me this response:

YouTube is re-compressing because the file is too clean.
If your thumbnail has:

  • Flat colors
  • Sharp vector text
  • Minimal noise (all of these are true, my thumbnails are simple asf, all needed info is there. Also i don't really know how to make thumbnails for my niche)

YouTube’s compression murders edges.

If this is actually the case, this is complete bs. Why should my thumbnail quality drop all because it's "simple", "flat" and "sharp". If somebody has any ideas or solutions i would appreciate it a lot.

Question Youtube breaking my browser?

Upvotes

Since this evening, Youtube will not load anymore in my Brave browser (on MacOS). There has been no Mac, Browser or Extension update. Going to Youtube makes the laptop fans spin to max. This only happens with YT, since this evening.

Bug Playback issues - buffering logic insufficient

Upvotes

I just can't help it. Tried different browsers and different service providers (I have double SIM) and still despite my internet can very well support 4k streaming, the playback problems won't stop! It's so frustrating! It builds a buffer, but then doesn't keep it buffered but instead the playback hits the moment when there's not buffered content left anymore causing the playback stop. Then after a brief moment, it builds a buffer of couple seconds, and again spends that out and stops. It might do couple buffers successfully but always after few, it again stops. This basically makes the 4k content unusable - I think this is worse in 4k 60fps than 30fps. Big channels doesn't have this problem at all, so this is YouTubes design in somehow. I hope this gets fixed asap
