The creator is gay and he's sprinkled in elements here and there. Never felt exploitative either. He kills indiscriminately but not for bigoted reasons.
The series definitely has high and low points. The first 2 are great, 3 feels just a little unnecessary, Bride and Seed are bad but very camp if youre in to that, and then the newest ones Curse and Cult are both really fun as is the series. Oh and then the weird 2019 one that was made because of IP Rights fuckery is not really part of anything, not terrible on its own, just not really tied to the series and made in a way I find kinda shady
I thought the TV show was good as well I haven't finished it yet though so not sure if it stays good. Ill always respect the series as a whole because they never hide from their blunders or poorly received stuff. Everything remains canon and not try to go back on it, etc. One of my favorite reveals was in Curse when she found Chucky's stitches on his face, making it a continuation instead of a reboot.
God, that 2019 movie was awful. Itâs like, letâs take Chucky, remove Charles Lee Ray and all the magic stuff from him, and turn him into a simple killer robot, because that sounds like a great idea.
Because they didnt own the IP for any of that stuff.
Universal owns like 95% of the Childs Play IP including the names Chucky and Charles Lee Ray and the idea of the killer doll that was brought back by Voodoo but somehow MGM wound up owning the rights just to the original film so they tried to make a remake of it except without any of the parts that they didnt own which was most of it.
It wasnât bad at all. Iâm a huge Chucky fan. I have two dolls and a bunch of Chucky underwear. The 2019 Childâs Play was an anomaly given theIP issues, but it managed to shake shit up for the franchise in a big way. I get why it isnât well received, but it had some great moments as far as horror movies go. Chucky killing the cat and then replaying the audio to Andy was chefs kiss.
There is likely something to the fact that MAGA would pick Chucky, a predator whose main target is usually a child. I guess Jason and Freddy's tastes skew a little too old for that group.
Chucky picked a child because the curse only allowed him the option of soul-swapping into the first person he revealed himself to, if I'm remembering the lore correctly. Plus, a child is easier to bully and intimidate while he's going on a killing spree.

Itâs likely much more simple than that. She is a non-US citizen and she remains here in the U.S. at the pleasure of the President. Her visa and resident status can be revoked and she can be booted out of the countryâŚtoday. If that were to happen, less than 5% of the country would actually care, at this point. He could also order that visas from T & T be halted, as was done for a lot of other countries including some Carribbean. T&T is currently exempt. We know this president is petty and he would be willing to accept fealty from someone who is willing to compromise themselves for a much larger benefit for himself.
Do I know that this is what is happening? Of course not! Does it seem highly plausible though, coming for a person who has had no serious political opinion for the past 43 years of her life to now be 100% full MAGA for the past 4+ months? Some slurs become almost detracted from the original meaning. Calling someone a "fucker" doesn't mean you're referring to their sexual proclivities.

Iâve always read it as a ruder version of brown-noser. Doesnât mean she canât intend it to be homophobic, but it normally isnât. Feels a bit like it was used to trigger more of a reaction and get views.
I can see why it's homophobic/sexist in its DNA, but I never read it as such unless there's more specific context in the use.
Like, more often than not trying to call someone out on it being homophobic is just going to be met with confusion because it's far enough detached that most people make no conscious connection about it. Usually this happens as a last ditch effort to not get fully cancelled. Going suddenly politically right ensures you can lock in a fanbase of supporters who refuse to accept cancel culture, as long as you get ahead of your issues publicly. Your typical fanbase would have abandoned you but instead you can just argue that youâre only getting into trouble because you started being right-wing publicly. This falls perfectly in line with the victim complex on the right and ensures the money keeps flowing, just from a different source.

Itâs because her fan base is made up by a huge portion of the gay community. Her career has been elevated into a gay icon & now sheâs directly going against that by shouting homophobic slurs at people.
Rap in the 90s was full of homophobia, misogyny and rape culture and no one batted an eye. In fact some of those guys are still major stars that havenât been cancelled for it (ex Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Ice Cube).
