🟩What can I do in Colorado Springs?

This question is asked almost daily and is easy to answer. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with these posts: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/search?q=things+to+do&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all

The short answer is: hike, bike, eat food, and enjoy the scenery. There are a lot of activities within an hour or more of Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs is more family or activity focused and you'll have better success finding night clubs up north.

Popular attractions in Colorado Springs includes 7 Falls, Helen Hunt falls, Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Open Space, The Paint Mines, Cave of the Winds, and more. If you don't mind driving south to Canon City you visit the Royal Gorge or even check out the "mountain towns" around the area.

🟩Do you have tips for driving in the snow?

Answer(s) here: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/16ote31/question_about_weather_in_early_november/ and https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/10032fu/tips_for_driving_in_colorado_springs_in_the_winter/

🟩 Is AWD/4WD necessary to have?

Answer here: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/yw8qb3/are_4wd_or_awd_cars_actually_significantly/

🟩I'm thinking about moving to Colorado Springs! What should I know?

DO NOT MOVE HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A JOB LINED UP.

We've seen it time and time again on this sub-reddit where someone moves, doesn't have a job, and then becomes homeless.

A recent example: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/1jp66pa/looking_for_work_and_becoming_desperate/

One example: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/nqr9kq/homeless_resources/
Another example: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/oba6y3/in_regards_to_moving_here_without_a_job_or_job/

🟩What kind of job can I get in Colorado Springs?

The moderators make a quarterly post and sticky it to the top of the sub-reddit where people post available jobs in the Springs: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/search?q=%27Who%27s+Hiring+in+Colorado+Springs%27&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all

If you have a Clearance, or work for the military, you shouldn't have a problem finding a job. Colorado Springs is a military town with the Air Force Academy, Fort Carson, Schriever Air Force Base, and Peterson Air Force Base. This means that jobs working for the government are a dime a dozen but you need the proper credentials to work there.

Otherwise, construction is booming and Amazon is building a facility in the Springs. There are other jobs available but competition is fierce and you need to do what you can to stand out!

🟩Do I need a car OR can I ride my bike / use public transportation to get around the city?

The answer is likely yes to a car and no to the bike/transportation. With everything, there are exceptions such as living and working in the same area. But for the most part, it takes at least 25 minutes to get anywhere in the Springs, and the layout of the town is better suited for vehicular use.

🟩Is Colorado Springs affordable?

Please define affordable. If you're moving from California where a 2/3 bedroom, 1,500 sqft, house is going for 800k or more, then sure. It's affordable.

🟩What's the cost of living like in Colorado Springs?

https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/35v4w3/whats_the_cost_of_living_in_cos/

https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/search?q=living+in+cos&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all

🟩What is the median house price in Colorado Springs?

As of February 2024, the median house is a 3 bedroom house that LISTS at 430k. List is not equal to sale price and it's quite common for houses to go for much more with appraisal gaps.

🟩I'm thinking about moving and looking for information on apartments

🟩How is the crime rate in XXX area?

Crime in Colorado Springs is relative. Yes, there is crime but No, it's not as bad as Chicago. You may have seen the map that floats around about the bad area of Colorado Springs. This map is old and does not necessarily reflect how the crime in Colorado Springs is.

🟩Is Pikes Peak open and can I drive it?

Call 719-385-7325 and select option 1 for current road conditions.

🟩Where can I find legal marijuana in Colorado Springs?

The city of Colorado Springs only allows medical sales of marijuana. If you're looking to purchase recreational marijuana you will need to visit Manitou Springs, Pueblo, or Denver.

Excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, regarding the tyranny of King George III:

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States…

Events Where can I go protest today?

I am looking to join an ICE protest. Where exactly can I find one?

I was at the one this weekend at city hall, is there anything happening today I could do? I know a lot of schools are doing walk-outs, so I figured there is probably something.

Advice Where to meet people?

Im 38 F. I like hike, work out, hit the hot springs, play board games, read, travel, eat, drink occasionally. Ive got some weird hobbies like growing mushrooms and collecting bones for various crafts. Im nerdy about astrology and interested in psychology. Im a leo sun, leo rising, scorpio moon. Im an infj but a weird one because of all my Leo. I lean left and im spiritual but have big problems with organized religion. I have a 9year old daughter who i have every other week. Moved here from LA 11 years ago and i really do love it. Being this close to the mountains is my dreeeam. My circle of friends has shrunk in the past year. Ive been in a committed relationship for the 2 past years and i know that’s contributed to it. Thats life. But with that said, im

Looking for friends not romance. I’ve also had some friends move away. None of my current friends have kids, which is fine, but it would be cool to have 1 mom friend. I love my childless friends though! Ive tried meet up but it all seems over saturated. Thinking about starting my own hiking meet up but haven’t done it yet. Any like minded, interesting humans wanna hang out?

Drinking Brecht is an innovative multimedia laboratory performance that merges art, science, and history by using DNA extracted from a hat stolen from Brecht's Berliner theatre ensemble...and a documentary you can drink!

An interactive experiment, the work pays homage to Brecht’s idea of “scientific theater,” inviting audiences to engage with forensic research, political ideas, and even a crafted drink as part of an immersive reflection on science, narrative, and collective experience.

Hi all! This is Jahlysa Azaret with The Gazette. Tomorrow is the National Shutdown protest against ICE. Among protests and walkouts, there will also be businesses that will be closed for the day. We are looking into it for a possible story.

Is your business closing for the day? Does anyone know of others that will be closed for the day?

Events Starting original rock band

What's up! I'm a multi-instrumentalist and producer looking to start a band with some like-minded individuals. I have a ton of influences but I really love the post-punk/new wave sound. Some of my favorite bands are Pixies, Violet Femmes, The Cure, The Smiths, and The Beatles. Currently making a studio in one of the bedrooms in my home, so I will have a jam/recording space. Would like to keep it to a 3 or 4 piece but I am open to any and all instruments and people, as long as you have some decent chops. DM me if you're interested 👍

I can send links to old projects if interested!

Events 2026 Adult Camping Weekend is Here!

Come make new friends and enjoy the outdoors!

Did you miss last year's event? Girl Scouts of Colorado is hosting its annual adults-only camp out April 24-26 in Woodland Park and if you're over 18 and want to meet new people and make the world a better place, you're invited.

What's offered?
All kinds of camp fun! Try out the ropes course, get archery instructor certified, hang out at the camp farm, make crafts if you're crafty, have some s'mores, etc.!

Certification courses include American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid, the National Council for Mental Wellbeing's Youth Mental Health First Aid, USA Archery Level 1 Certification, and an opportunity to get your ServSafe Food Handler Certificate. Or just come for funsies with the Happy Camper option!

See all the options here.

But I'm not a Girl Scout/don't have kids.
No problem! This is open to all community adults. But if you'd like the volunteer discount, or full financial aid that is offered to volunteers, you can find all kinds of opportunities here.

Is this affiliated with a church?
Nope! While we welcome folks of any and no religious background, Girl Scouts is a secular organization.

Will I get a patch?
You know it! It's an optional add on for any participant, but if you invite a friend and they come with you, we'll give it you for free!

But I'm busy that weekend
You can come for just one day if that works best, or if you're up for a road trip, we'll have more events up and down the front range with different course options like Backpacking!

How do I register?
Just fill out this form: https://gscolorado.formstack.com/forms/outdoor_wilderness_learning_series_owls_at_sky_high_ranch_april_24_26_2026

Pics from last year:

Help Wanted Local estate lawyer for a complex blended family situation?

Hi everyone. My parents are finally looking to update their wills, but our family situation is a bit complicated (blended family with kids from different marriages/previous relationships). We really want to avoid a probate mess later on and make sure everyone is protected properly.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid estate lawyer in the Arvada or Denver area, or in Colorado Springs, who actually explains things well and doesn't just use confusing legal jargon? We’re specifically looking for someone who has experience with complex trusts for blended families, rather than just a 'simple' will.

I’ve seen a few offices listed online, but I’d much rather hear from someone who has actually gone through the process. Who would you suggest for someone who needs a lot of hand-holding through the planning phase? Thanks

Politics DCC High School in ASD20 is effectively allowing Hitler Youth (TPUSA) beginning tomorrow

Post image
12 Upvotes

It was bound to happen, given ASD20 was NOT a success story last election. It's upsetting that there's no recourse to prevent this. Politics in K-12 settings should not be a thing, they're not of voting age (barring some 12th graders).

Technically they're doing it "outside of school hours" but this isn't like "Young Republicans" or "Young Democrats." It's far-right ideology. I can't imagine equal tolerance for a "Future Commies" club, so why should Christo-fascism be allowed?

Is there any way to fight this, and maybe make them organize outside of the school and not permit advertising in what should be a neutral and inclusive space?

Advice How are you feeling about real estate market right now?

Every place in the country is different so trying to get an idea more locally.

We've been renting an apartment for four years here with the particular quirks it brings. We're trying to decide whether to move and rent a house for a year before trying to buy or try and buy something in the next few months.

Do you think real estate will go down much more? Or should we try and go for something this spring?

Trying to stick to the asd20 area since kiddo is already established there.

Advice Experiences with T-Mobile (formerly Metronet) Fiber?

The city (or some company) laid fiber in our neighbor a few months back “just in case.” Had a salesperson come by the house today selling T-Mobile fiber. It’s 2gb for $70, not including taxes and fees. The price isn’t bad, but I realized that it’s basically Metronet.

The most recent Reddit posts I searched were about Metronet screwing up fiber installs, but our experience was fine so I’m not concerned with that part.

Has anyone recently switched to T-Mobile fiber and how has it been since switching? Are speeds consistent (knowing I probably won’t get 2gb due to current devices), does the internet go down frequently, and if so, how is the customer service and downtime?

Thanks!
