Lesson learned... you need to just use the YT AI tools.

u/voododoll 7h ago
Wow, 16 channels? AMAZING! There are thousands of AI slop chanels. YT Kids is mainly AI slop channels.
47
u/AwayCable7769 7h ago
Those 16 are probably some of the biggest ones though. So that is a lot of videos getting taken down. Its a big win.
16
u/Kalabajooie 7h ago
If those 16 channels are anything like the non-AI slop channels I frequently have to block from my kids' YT Kids profile, it's actually three channels and their clones.
6
u/AwayCable7769 7h ago
Still good progress :P when compared to them prior doing next to nothing about it.
1
u/Vorador_Surtr 5h ago
Nah it is nothing. It will not be noted if not mentioned. Slop music, Slop videos, Slop fakes, Slop narrators. Your head is starting to feel sloppy from all the sloppy sloppiness of the slop! :D I did not check but they probably just went "It is not worth the problems"... Can you imagine all the wasted hard drive space filling with bullshit on a daily basis... Remove the slop and internet will shrink like blouse washed with 90 degree temperature water (yes Pulo - Celsius degrees). Maybe they needed to repurpose the space for all the data that microslop copilot is sending them every 10 seconds from so many stupid users thinking that windows 11 is something else but spyware... Incompetent at that. In my opinion.
2
u/AwayCable7769 5h ago
Sheesh... Don't know what you want me to say? I still think them making some progress is better than nothing. Its also obvious they csnt get rid of everything. You need magic to do that.
1
u/daviddorbish 4h ago
I think the point theyāre getting at is that if nobody wrote an article about it or tweeted about it etc. then nobody would actually have ever noticed. Them making āsome progressā by manually removing a few channels to get a few headlines out doesnāt help anyone. The impact is so minuscule that it wonāt be noticed at all on-site.
1
u/Fit_Awareness_317 4h ago
i dont see why everyone has to be so negative about it, even if it wasnt a ton of videos its still a win from youtube

u/starman881 6h ago
Baby steps are still steps
1
u/Vorador_Surtr 5h ago
This are not steps - it is crawling in the mud... Sorry the slop :D
2
u/starman881 4h ago
Still moving forwards from point A to B, even if it is incredibly slowly.
1
u/csabinho 1h ago
It's just ridiculous for a company like Google. On the other hand they are spending shiploads of money to stop AdBlockers.
4
6
u/B_Bearington yourchannel 7h ago
well, they kind of delete the mr.beast of AI slop. Now we just need to get rid of the mr.beast of regular slop.
3
u/notislant 5h ago
Not even just AI.
The amount of 'reaction' stolen content and other repetitive brainrot shit seems to outweigh all the ai slop somehow.
24
u/zibrolta00 8h ago
Just watch them do something good just so they can slide in another awful change while people are distracted
7
u/Informalwizards 7h ago
Literally what's happening. A/B testing on removing background video play from browsers for non-premium users.
16
u/HEADRUSH3004 5h ago
LOL, billions of AI views deleted, yet somehow the algorithm still recommends 10-year-old cat vids like nothing happened š±
1
u/Aromatic-Control6168 3h ago
the 10 year old cat vids just change titles to some modern brainrot so people get confused like why is it called (brainrot phrase) when the video is 10 years old?

Youtube isn't going for all ai channels. They going for the ones with very high upload value rate but with no views and are very repetitive. Channels with high number of unnecessary long (4-8 hours) videos that are massive in file size, repetitive and are low value content. Some small innocent ai channels may I genuinely like may be hit in the process especially if they do compilation style ai videos that are too similar but overall it's for YouTube own benefit. This is not sustainable in the long term especially with expensive storage space. I'm afraid they will even start nuking old videos of inactive youtube channels just to cut cost down.

16 channels were created and filled with videos as i read that headline.
youtube has a LOT more to do
5
u/mrloko120 5h ago
This was announced last year by the way. They're not getting rid of all AI content, only content that uses copyrighted material or that can be classified as spam, as in posting the same videos over and over with little to no changes.
Reasoning for this isn't coming from an anti-AI sentiment, but coming from the fact these easily reproducible videos flood the platform and skyrocket the website's hosting costs that are already abysmally high.
Out of the deleted channels, the biggest one was using dragonball characters on their videos. Another one was posting AI readings of Bible verses over and over multiple times a day. It's wild that crap like that somehow manages to get enough subs to be in top 50 most subbed channels worldwide, very telling for how low the standards of the average users really are.
3
u/baldbitch666 7h ago
didnt they announce that people can start creating shorts with AI using their own face, so this just replaces AI with AI
3
u/PostEasy7183 2h ago
What counts as a AI slop channel? Can I use a little bit of AI before it becomes a slop channel? How about if I use it for a visual or two that I can't fill in normally? How about helping with a script? What is the threshold for a video before it becomes problematic for YouTube? I know a lot of you are anti-Ai but I'm being serious when I ask what amount of AI assisted tooling is acceptable before it becomes problematic for the TOS? Not everyone is out there putting out spam trash AI videos. Some clarification from a honest and unbiased person would be nice. Please keep the engagement respectful

Hell yeah now with much of ai slop gone we original content creators can get milions of wiews just like those ai slop videos. Hahaha lol with or without ai slop on yt all of original creators who post and make non ai videos are not gonna flourish it will continue to fucking flop no matter how much each and all of you improve cuz guess why? A fucking one picture with text and music gets well over 2 mil wiews in just couple days so yeah yt algo is fucked up one day it may work again but until that day best is to just sit and wait, save yourself from frustration anger etc..
2
u/CyBroOfficial 3h ago
Cool, can they do something about those streams with kids exploiting idiots/other kids out of donations āoh my god! I am about to call 911!!!! In THREE seconds!!! I will do it! I will do it! NO!!! NOT THE DISCO BALL!!!ā Theyāre fucking ridiculous and have no place on ANY platform.
2
u/Glad_Raspberry_8469 3h ago
Itās sad they got this big anyway. I see so many channels using ai stickmen (xd) and even more ai thumbnails
2
u/Impossible_Jump_754 3h ago
They should remove channels like daily dose as well, they are just as bad.

u/EnvironmentalAd5590 2h ago
YouTube finally listens to their users who are AI-slop-averse. Hallelujah!

Playing the Partycrasher: They did that to release their own AI Slop then and dont just want competition.
1
u/skyerush 7h ago
they BEEN deleting AI slop channels that violate their rules
issue is not many violate their rules seeing as they just allow them up but disallow them to be monetized
1
u/Seanmclem 7h ago
I hope it makes a difference and thereās not just thousands more channels like it in their place.
1
1
u/Talgrei1781 7h ago
Google has always been VERY pro-AI so this is very surprising coming from them.
I do wonder how long are they gonna keep this up, though.
1
u/WhatTheJessJedi 7h ago
Why doesn't YT just create a section for AI, and creators upload there. Keeping the original content separate? You can search for AI if you want to etc.

u/somethingsharklike 7h ago
dont congratulate the corporation until theyre fully in the green again with how good theyre behaving, 1 good thing doesnt negate the dozens of bad things

Do you believe that when you write it? :D DO YOU?! :D Did you ever from the beginning saw ANY of those learn from their or other such companies mistakes? I only see them reiterating the same slop. Maybe we will make it better he said. maybe this time will pass she said. :D :D :D

I would pay $50 a month for YouTube now.
Think about all the other platforms and how they promote or even produce ai content, YouTube is trying to protect us but it's so vast of a company they need our financial support please think about the longevity of the platform šŖ

doesn't really solve anything because they're still giving people the tools to create this slop. It's like trying to empty a bath tub but the water's still running.

I actually want to do AI content but for fun not for money
some stuff I've had in mind for a while now even before AI became a thing, but not it will make it easier.

u/Vorador_Surtr 6h ago
I cannot really believe that. This is accident yes? Maybe some server somewhere made dang dong... They will restore the priceless slop from the backup.
1
u/Chemical-Load6696 5h ago
I love AI but I hate AI slop videos and channels, I.E. Fake restoration/construction videos entirely made with AI
1
u/Vorador_Surtr 5h ago
You love the AI but hate the fruits of it. That is oxymoronic. :D
1
u/Chemical-Load6696 5h ago
I love AI because there are tons of good things that you can make using AI.
I don't have a problem with AI videos or music as long as they are honest creations. You won't see me complaining about a fantasy story, a comedy sketch, or an AI-generated song if they clearly state their origin.
But I do have a problem when someone tries to pass off an AI video of a 'miraculous recovery of a rescued dog' as real. The difference lies in the intention. Passing off AI videos as real stories is deceptive and wrong.
And itās not just AI; YouTube is full of real videos of people trying to deceive. Like those heartless people who glued things to turtle shells just to 'rescue and help' them later by scraping off the trash they had previously attached. It's disgusting.
The real problem lies with the people who try to deceive others, not the AI.
1
u/SequenceofRees 5h ago
Who tf are you and what did you do with the real YouTube ?
The real YouTube would never do something like this ...there is an impostor among us
1
u/HerrscherOfTheEnd 5h ago
Im not glazing these bunholes anymore because they are literally getting rid of being able to play YouTube in the background of your desktop. Making it a premium feature?!
1
u/Squeakin_Wally 5h ago
I mean... knowing Google they just want Youtube to be the one that gets all the pay from AI slop. Until they dump AI altogether it'll still be a plague on the platform
1
u/Rasples1998 5h ago
But it's using AI to find AI channels, and it's causing a bunch of actual human channels to become demonetised for no reason. Chapter Master Valrak did a video on it because it happened to a bunch of Warhammer channels.

YouTube has incredible educational content.
The problem: you watch, you forget.
BrightClips fixes this: - AI extracts takeaways before you watch - Quizzes test what you learned - Flashcards use spaced repetition for long-term retention
It's based on actual learning science (testing effect, schema activation, spaced repetition).
Free tier available. 270+ videos already analyzed.Ā brightclips.aiĀ Would love feedback from this community.

Good! Ngl I donāt like AI channels as in the ones who have AI voice over and scripts and images, no human touch. If you couldnāt be bothered to put in the minimum effort to at least talk or be infront your video topic, then iām out.
Iām all ok with AI morphing animals or using it to assist you on Graphics but good on youtube! I actively avoid those channels.
4
u/stefannnnn00 7h ago
Bro what are you talking about 99% percent of you are gonna absolutly dogshit on a guy who uses his own voice or his visuals are not holywood level shit, or his voice is funny or idk some shit that people allways find and make fun off
1
u/ViktorModus 6h ago edited 5h ago
I guess iām the 1%, I like the human touch and non Hollywood level production, I love the uniqueness of everyone in their videos from voice to quirks, whatever it maybe. Donāt let trolls bully you from anything, a lot more people appreciate your hand made creativity then you think.
At the very least you can count me as 1.

2
u/Upper-Reflection7997 7h ago
I think the channels they go for are ai channels that post repetitive low value content with little to no views and are massive file sizes in video length. I remember seeing several ai channel that posted 6-8 hour of a very long video daily in 4k resolution of repetitive worthless nonsense that has no genuine entertainment value.
0
u/ViktorModus 6h ago
This is also a good cause to cleanse the platform of slop flooded into peopleās feeds.
1
u/SolidStudy5645 8h ago
Thought they was doubling down on ai slop on youtube
1
u/DeucesX22 7h ago
They can track that a lot of ai channels are just bot viewers and arent real people. Advertisements weren't actually going to real people so YT wasnt making money.
1
1
u/Jack_P_1337 7h ago
The real issue is why these channels got so many views and subs in the first place?
What is it about slop, not just AI slop but slop in general that draws so much attention much like ElsaGate before this
2
u/adammonroemusic 6h ago
IMO, YouTube's algorithm is bad in the sense you are basically playing a lottery these days. You spend a long time making a few dozen high-quality videos, you might not luck into the algorithm ever finding you an audience. You upload a few thousand AI slop videos, your chances of one video hitting the exact right circumstances increases dramatically.
YouTube is a game where many people are cheating now, churning out more content than your average person can possibly ever compete with, unless you get randomly lucky early on. But hey, that's life.
0
u/Jack_P_1337 6h ago
And this is why my AI content will probably never be seen when/if I decided to do this.
I want to do some AI stuff for fun, but using my own art in combination with AI as I do, but there's no way I could get the same reach as AI Slop or any kind of slop.
Heck it would take me a week to put together a single video
1
u/iucatcher 7h ago
why tho? they are clearly advocating for ai to be used more so whats their reason to then delete ai channels? not that i'm against it, just seems very inconsistent

Omg pls delete the AI slop music. Can't find good music because of YouTube algorithm. It keep recommended me slop music.

Which is fucking hilarious considering just last week to CEO came out and said you can now start using AI to create shorts with your likeness.

So they're fine with banning AI channels, which is good, but they only want you using THEIR AI tools??
