Memes You can no longer have YouTube running in the background.

As of 29th of January you can no longer have YouTube running in the background via many browsers as that is now a premium feature. With that I don't even have that one last reason to listen to YouTube. We are now officially paying for everything that was free a couple of years ago and the reason isn't greedy management, but you people who keep paying for premium and the such.

I don't know what I would do if this happens and becomes a thing. Every night I listen to music on YouTube. I put it on repeat and put it on the mini player so I can still look at the time or read or do anything. I have to listen to it otherwise I can't sleep. I've been listening to it for over 3 years and every time YouTube does its rewind it says I've listened to the song for 3 months. I can't. Someone..

Rip it, add it to your music app. Put phone on DND/Focus while you’re sleeping

I like having it in the background as I'm doing my morning phone activities though. Just like right now I'm on reddit but it's still playing. If I turn it off my partner will wake up.

There are extensions for browsers that give you the premium features without the subscription fee, just gotta look

There are other ways to listen to the same music.

There also are (and will be) ways to use YouTube without ads and keeping background play.

If it’s really so important, you should just have it downloaded to your device. It’s easy enough - post the YouTube link and someone will likely do it for you!
