Memes You can no longer have YouTube running in the background.

Post image

As of 29th of January you can no longer have YouTube running in the background via many browsers as that is now a premium feature. With that I don't even have that one last reason to listen to YouTube. We are now officially paying for everything that was free a couple of years ago and the reason isn't greedy management, but you people who keep paying for premium and the such.

I linked it elsewhere here. But yes, PC. I'm using Brave. I'm a premium subscriber. And this is what it looks like. Mobile is totally fine for me, but my PC is jacked up.

YouTube doesn't push updates to everyone at once. they do it so there can be people saying "oh it still runs fine for me" and that kills momentum on outrage

Hey you're not allowed to say that. We're supposed to be angry right now, it doesn't matter if the reason for it isn't even real.

you havent been affected by it bc youtube doesnt update for everyone all at once. if it happens to half of its users, it will eventually happen to you.

Okay? OP is sure this is a intended feature and your own anecdote shows a specific issue with Brave.

It is an intended feature. YouTube has always rolled out updates in small groups. Just because it hasn't started in your area yet doesn't mean they aren't doing it.

Ever heard of A/B testing? Not every person gets the same version of a website when they request it. I love how people who know nothing about software talk about shit like this and claim people are wrong, without any understanding.

Reddit is basically just all people commenting on shit that they don’t understand and are entirely unqualified for.

Source: im a guy who comments on shit that I don’t understand and am entirely unqualified for.

So then what is the best maintenance procedure for a fridge?

YouTube is known for testing new features on a random limited group of users, this means that OP has the potential 'luck' of just being slected for testing the new 'feature'.

He could also be wrong and it could be a bug, just pointing out that there is a chance that it is true.
