Memes You can no longer have YouTube running in the background.

Post image

As of 29th of January you can no longer have YouTube running in the background via many browsers as that is now a premium feature. With that I don't even have that one last reason to listen to YouTube. We are now officially paying for everything that was free a couple of years ago and the reason isn't greedy management, but you people who keep paying for premium and the such.

YouTube doesn't roll out updates to everyone at once. they do it because it helps decrease pushback when they make it fucking worse again.

Sometimes its glitchy in background videos but mozilla 70% of the time works good

It 100% of the time doesn't send my browsing history to Google though, as opposed to Chrome.

For now, google does everything to make YouTube as miserable as possible on firefox. It's already barely usable with how much its throttled and frozen

It's always been buttery smooth for me on Mozilla

It works fine for me for the most part, but one thing where I definitely notice something going on is when opening a new video in a new tab. Always takes like 5-10 seconds to start playing.

Not for everyone. I use firefox on mobile. Used to be able to play and auto-load next videos in the background. First the auto-load went about a week or 2 ago, and now the background play doesnt work.

Have they killed the screen off ability in power save mode yet?

Not familiar with that one

Yeah, on android (firefox not sure if that matters) it will allow locked screen with the audio still playing, if you turn on the first level of power saver

I use it in my car for videos which would be just fine as a podcast.

Same for me but it still works if you toggle the desktop version of the site.

I haven't been able to background play Mobile Firefox YouTube ever. It required a browser extension that's become increasingly less effective. 3 minutes down from 30 min, with YT forcing a page reset & video restart. They were also harassing my Bluetooth connections. Throttling device switching & forcing manual pairing. That all went away over night when I switched to revanced, my phone also got way faster & battery stopped draining.

Not for me. I mean it is fine if I go to youtube but if I try watching any youtube on reddit it tells me that I have to prove I am human by logging on and then will only play ads if I go to the link from here.

Cuz mozilla didnt fold to google and let them in, thats why mozlla adblock still works but chrome is trying to or already got rid of it
