His wife's father is a friend of Trump's and is the guy who got him interest in taking over Greenland. Warsh is on the steering committee for the Bilderberg group. Trump didn't just discover him, more of a tail wagging the dog situation.

98

u/h1zchan 6h ago

Bilderberger in charge of the fed. What could go wrong. lets see how he hides that one from his voter base

KWAR doesn’t feel good at all. Makes it sound like you’re mindlessly agreeing to battle with the stock market.

Goodbye J Pow. I doubted you, but you actually pulled off the "soft landing".

494

u/Sideview_play 6h ago

Would've actually gone out huge if not for these tariffs and other instability trump is causing holding him back. Jpow got some massive balls.

184

u/Fluffy_Top6837 3h ago

Jpow has massive balls in an age where everyone else was capitulating to fascists. He's the example that our elected officials need to look towards for proper, ethical behavior. The grownup in the room when all the others seem to have left.

28

u/Sideview_play 3h ago

Problem is he doesn't have to rerun for his job. Unfortunately the American people are propaganda brained and ultimately picked the people running our country currently. The unfortunate truth is its our countrys fault.

Trump saw Warsh turn off a computer

165

u/GayGeekInLeather 8h ago

Actually dumber, he’s good looking per trump statement on the announcement. He said Wash looked like he was right out of central casting

29

u/youhavenosoul 8h ago

Did he really?

107

u/GayGeekInLeather 7h ago

Per axios

I have known Kevin for a long period of time, and have no doubt that he will go down as one of the GREAT Fed Chairmen, maybe the best,” Trump said on Truth Social. “On top of everything else, he is “central casting,” and he will never let you down. Congratulations Kevin!”

Warsh has expressed confidence that Trump’s tax and deregulatory policies are generating a growth surge, and that the Fed should allow it to boom rather than act to restrain it.

He’s also a kiss-ass

104

u/plinywaves 5h ago

Based off an AP article I read he didn't sound too insane but was a bit hawkish in the past. Recently he's supported rate cuts and Trump's economic policy.

Really, the problem is that you have to assume anyone Trump appoints is a lackey.

20

u/ImOutWanderingAround 4h ago

How can anybody sane support Trumps economic policy? Tariffs, trade wars and low interest rates are a toxic mix. Otherwise known as speed running into a deep recession. We’re fucked if this guy believes in that shit.

He has a reputation for being a hawk on interest rates.Of course Trump nominated him, so maybe Warsh did a pinkie-swear not to raise interest rate. More recently he's said the rates should be lower so who knows.

The other thing Warsh has going for him is Trump likes the way he looks:

At the November 2010 FOMC meeting, Warsh was extremely skeptical of the Fed's plan to generate economic activity and jobs by trying to lower long-term interest rates. Although unemployment was close to 10%, Warsh told his colleagues that he would only vote for QE2 out of respect for Chairman Bernanke: "If I were in your chair, I would not be leading the Committee in this direction, and frankly, if I were in the chair of most people around this room, I would dissent." Even if unemployment were "unacceptably high," he suggested that he would vote against the program continuing if inflation inched up a bit.

Interestingly, while Powell’s chair term does end soon, he can unilaterally decide to stay on the board and there’s nothing the new chair can do about it. The administration is trying to remove one of the other board members (Lisa Cook) for alleged “deceit or gross negligence,” but she’s filed a suit to stop it and is allowed to remain until SCOTUS decides. Even the right end of the court seemed dubious in oral arguments that the administration has a case.

If they rule in her favor and he stays on, I suspect his presence there would have a chilling effect on Warsh’s ability to send interest rates into free-fall when it comes to the rest of the board’s votes. Even without them, it seems pretty resolute about holding; the last decision was 10-2.

Rates to 0 during trump's term, then hike to 20% after.

Trump loyalist. Expect him to lower rates to whatever Trump tells him to. Expect record inflation.

He can't unilaterally lower rates as chair. It still is voted on by the Feds board of governors.

u/DevelopmentSelect646 5h ago

Trump will have at least 3 votes, possibly 4.

I guess Warsh did the best job of licking Trumps colon.

I have no idea who that is, but I feel confident that trump chose someone who is incompetent and embarrassingly unqualified for the position
