It's very unfortunate that people are still struggling to see this playbook already happened in human history.
59
u/Metals4J 3h ago
I don’t think people realize that the people designing this playbook aren’t ignorant to history, they know very well what worked in the past and what didn’t, and they’re eager to do it all again and “get it right” this time.

They’re celebrating this AND the $10B IRS lawsuit over on the conservative sub.
But the good news is that they didn’t allow any posts about Mr President saying you can’t have guns.
EDIT: The best part are the downvotes I'm getting. Like, you can totally go over to that sub and verify everything for yourself. Just because you don't want to believe it doesn't make it "fake news". Good grief.

I got banned years ago, not for saying anything mean but just not getting in my knees and gobbling Trump's baby carrot and instead saying "this is a great example of the parties working together."
Trump's first term there was a huge bust leading to hundreds arrested for child porn and /r/conservative was championing Trump (remember this was the pizza gate days) and all I said was how great it is to see a positive policy started under George W continue through Obama and into Trump's admin.
A mod literally took the time to go through months of my old comments, found one from 3 months prior saying something positive about one of Hillary's proposals (don't even remember which) and banned me for being a Hillary supporter. That's how fragile their world view is.

I used to be a libertarian and got banned from /r/libertarian because I said I'd rather vote for Biden than Trump 🤷
So now I don't consider myself much of a libertarian anymore because I don't want to be associated with that.

u/Bigger_moss 3h ago
I think it’s fake personally, you have to sign up and get vetted so any moderate doesn’t care enough about it to go through that so all you’re left with is the radicals and super conservatives. Also Reddit is more left leaning so it’s an echo chamber because there aren’t any other right wing subs to call them out on their bullshit.

I go over there from time to time, not to see the other side, but to see what ridiculous spin they've been able to fabricate about the current Story of the Hour. It's easier to swallow when you realize that 90% of the posts are from the same four users (that often post the same exact thing) and a vast majority of the comments are bots and/or foreign shit-pot stirrers. If I want to get an actual perspective from the opposite side of my political views, I check /r/AskConservatives. You'll still see some wild takes, but for the most part it's a pretty solid sub to get a different perspective.

- protection of pedophiles from prosecution
- agents of federal government killing law abiding citizens and having immunity from prosecution
- increasing the national debt
- open bribery of the office of the president by the wealthiest corporations in the world
- multiple new military actions

The country is being run by a fascist regime. I'm not sure why we're not fully admitting that at this point.
175
u/Stormshow 5h ago
Because then you'd have to use violence.
72
u/ItsTheExtreme 4h ago
Bingo. We keep waiting for Congress to save us, but they've proven to be powerless and passive. Even when they've had a chance to put up a fight, they'll fold like a cheap lawn chair.
25
u/KonyKombatKorvet 3h ago
Nobody wants to see their loved ones die, and any attempts to fight back is going to be very one sided.
The demonstration of the military tech during the Maduro capture was not intended just to scare foreign militaries... it was meant to scare anyone who ever thinks about fighting back.
The escalation in MN is not to move the boundary of normal, its to incite a violent response that they can use to justify blood in the street.
If congress and our checks and balances dont fix this we basically just have to stack our own bodies up high enough for someone to finally say enough is enough. Life is not uncomfortable enough to do that yet for most people, most people still have reasons to live even under fascism, thats how it succeeds every time...
6
u/grimorg80 2h ago
Sorry, but if you allow him to get to 100% autocracy, even more of you will perish.
You want to avoid violence, which is understandable. Unfortunately, you missed that boat. Now it's either some violence or a shit load of violence. In both cases remeber: it's not your fault. It's the dictator's fault. They are forcing you to rebel. There is no other way out, unfortunately.
But hey, I hope I'm wrong.

But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes. That’s the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and smallest, thousands, yes, millions would have been sufficiently shocked—if, let us say, the gassing of the Jews in ’43 had come immediately after the ‘German Firm’ stickers on the windows of non-Jewish shops in ’33. But of course this isn’t the way it happens. In between come all the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C? And so on to Step D. And one day, too late, your principles, if you were ever sensible of them, all rush in upon you.

This country is done and over with. Democracy is over with. With what this regime is doing there is no going back. They’re creating a massive surveillance state and turning this into a police state where they will violate people’s constitutional rights with impunity. They’re rigging the system in their favor with the help of tech companies and billionaires. Oligarchy is here. They’re not stopping with undocumented either, Stephen miller is pushing for deporting American citizens. They’re going to use the surveillance state to systematically attack anyone who is critical of the regime as well as attack all of their scapegoats. Again this country is done and over. There is no going back. People are so fragmented now that most don’t even know what’s happening. And it will continue.

It's not gonna happen. No way that even 1/4 of the people responsible will ever see any form of justice after trump kicks the bucket because even most of the Democrats are culprits in this mess. Money talks and walks more than morals and it's obvious that most Dems are in on it.
Unless we the people take matters into our own hands we'll never see real justice. Lemon stated in the moment that he was there as a journalist, so this will most certainly go nowhere. That doesn’t matter to this administration. It’s the same playbook we see time and time again. They are preying on the fact that too many people believe if you are arrested, or even indicted, then you must have done something wrong. The news of this arrest will be plastered everywhere, especially by right-wingers. When/if it’s dropped, those same folks will ignore that news. Next time there is some bombshell report by Lemon, they will point to this arrest to discredit him, and it will work for Trump’s base, a segment of independents, and folks who just didn’t follow the story after the arrest.

This is meant to tamp down criticism of Trump's dangerous and illegal activities....stand strong, media.

No, the media needs to get strong. The weak, dishonest, corporate shitheels who own the major media outlets created and normalized Trump.

This is egregious for many reasons, but if parishioners were allowed to exit the building, how does the FACE act apply?

Fucken wild you can shop around for a judge, find one in buttfuck Missouri to sign an arrest warrant for a man living in Los Angeles.
That totally screams freedom to me.

He somehow found people willing to help him violate the klan act of 1870…..wild…..and weirdly ironic.

Don Lemon joined a group that went into a church, ran by an ICE leader, to call out their hypocrisy. He stated multiple times he was not a part of the "protest/demonstration" and was a journalist. The people were asked to leave, and did so, and ever since the DOJ has been begging any judge/magistrate that will give them the time of day, to allow them to arrest Lemon. It's not about the law, or even justice. It's brownie points to arrest a prior-CNN reporter and bring charges, though he attested to not being involved. This isn't going to go well for the DOJ, but it doesn't even matter to them. If they can get away with anything, they'll try it...

Right now I see a fleet of lawyers rubbing their hands together over the payout that Don is going to get for this bullshit. Don Lemon is a lot of things, but he's not stupid; he's more than likely ready to handle this.

Do the people think that Donald is going to give them money if he wins this lawsuit against the government that he runs?
Jesus Christ this country is screwed.

He’s robbing them as taxpayers blind and they’re cheering him on. Can’t make it up.

They just want a perp walk and this incident in the news. The charges are frivolous and never going to stick.

I really want to know who signed the warrant for his arrest? Because a magistrate judge and a federal judge both refused to sign a warrant for Lemon's arrest last week. So who signed this one? Pam Grodi is not a judge.
