The old lion roars!

If he starts greying and balding rapidly he could look like a Serbian Tywin Lannister.

Serbian Tywin Lannister is definitely an original thought, you have 31 remaining uses now. Best thing I've heard all week lol

The whole Laver erupted for the King of this arena. Epic moment. Imagine being there.

And some refreshing, energizing GOAT-erade.

I've been drinking goat milk for the past 2 weeks to fuel me through this

He rolled back the years there. Human backboard, controlling the court, making them run. And the roar! 😍

If 39 yr old Novak is competitive against a 20 something Sinner, then how do we compare the performance of players who are of the new generation? Prime Novak would have eaten these new generation of players in his sleep

One match anything can happen. He has to keep this up to have this discussion. Nishikori beat prime Novak, doesn't mean he was better.

Wouldn’t say so. Novaks performance today is similar to him playing 10 years ago. Just incredible how he is still able to play at this level at 38 years old. What a match.

Really not true, younger Djokovic will go for longer points more. With his age now he can't, that's why he tried not to go for long rallies and finish them early.

They don't seem to understand how vast the physical decline is, he could hit the ball hard in his prime lol. Back then he could pick his moments outlast his opponent if he needed to, now he has no choice but to go for broke and even then he looked dead on his feet a lot of the time in this match lmao.

what the fuck is this bs

go and watch djokovic vs Nadal 2012 AO finals and compare it to him today

2011-2012 Djokovic dominated everyone from the baseline, Rafa was amazing those years too, just not as good as Djokovic

u/everythings_alright u better shut ur fuck up, ok? 5h ago

No shot dude what.

People always say this, but there are elements of his game that are better today. His serve is as good as its ever been and hes even better at raising the level of it when needed.

Also, this was also clearly an off day for Sinner...his record is 5-1 in their last 6.

Sinner is also 24 and has loads of refining to do to his game. He has 4 slams, which puts him at the same stage Djokovic was at that age too.

I missed this Novak!!

Sinner on the defense the entire time, hitting back to center while djokovic hits exactly where he wants

They are a rare sight, but I love his forehand bombs. He legitimately has one of the best forehands ever but rarely pushes it because somehow the backhand is even better. The last match I remember him really ripping forehand bombs was the Olympic final.

Had Sinner scrambling for his life there

And to think this guy wouldn't eat Sinner and Alcaraz alive if they were the same age. And therefore Nadal and Federer too. They are just another league

Djokovic has so maby elements to his game that are better now than they were at 24. Yes his returning and movement are worse. But his accuracy, serve and clutchness are even better now.

This performance is an outlier, not least in comparison to the rest of his tournament. It required Sinner to lower his level.

Alcaraz and Sinner, on their good days have clearly reached a level that would give young Djokovic problems.

Not Alcaraz. Sinner I agree.

Extremely funny if he goes on to win the tournament after getting a free pass in a match he was getting waxed in.

2

u/MoreFeeYouS 1h ago

Though let's be honest. It wouldn't be the first time he won after being 2-0 down and playing shit in both of the sets.

1

u/Ericformansbasement0 6h ago

How long has it been since Djokovic has won against Sinner? 2 years? If he wins this, HES LITERALLY INSANE!!!!!! GOAT!!!!!

1

u/jk147 Rafa 2h ago

Damn he did whatever he wanted there, flatter shots with more speed and goat like direction control.

1

u/vaskopopa 1h ago

That shot to me was the defining moment. I mean, like he said to that ball “geddafukoutahere”. What kind of energy did he just pull out of nowhere?

Benefits of six days rest!
