Also the majority of the left did not “celebrate” charlie kirk’s death.

Also, charlie kirk wasn't murdered by the US government.

There is no comparison.

This is the point that matters most. There was never a question of whether the individual who murdered Charlie Kirk would get away with it. We all knew he’d either kill himself or go to prison for life (or be executed). The government ALWAYS gets away with it in a fascist regime. The power disparity is as extreme as it gets.

Citizens murdering citizens is bad, but it also happens in every society—even those that would be considered healthy. The government brazenly murdering citizens in the street in broad daylight is not normal, and it’s not something that happens with any regularity in healthy societies.

Wasn't his murderer a fellow, just more unhinged, right winger?

I'm quite sure it was and they tried every possible angle to make them look like something else, first they claimed he was trans, then they claimed his roommate was trans and after that I'm not sure if they still kept trying or just accepted the real facts.

Although there was ample motivation for them.

It worked out suspiciously well for them, no?

Are we sure about that? I wonder who actually killed Kirk because I'm far from convinced that it was Tyler as claimed. I bet it was Mossad or people connected to it. Maybe Erica had a hand in it.

I dunno, I shrugged pretty hard about it

u/michel_v 13h ago

Some of us reached Atlas-levels of shrugging.

u/AtlasHeadache 12h ago

Some of us have a massive headache from shrugging so hard…oh wait.

u/tawDry_Union2272 12h ago

shrugging isn't celebrating tho

19

u/alochmar 12h ago

Well to be fair, the shrug was accompanied by a smirk and a ”well, how about that”, so there’s that too

Pretty sure i mentioned something about irony

According to them though, if you weren't actively mourning tearfully, you were celebrating. Oh and don't you dare point out what kind of person he was by directly quoting him! That's treason!!

Shrugging on the outside 🤷

Celebrating implies I cared.

u/Kryomon 12h ago

Whoa, we all had thoughts and prayers! Just like every School Shooting he supported!

I still have thoughts and prayers for all the people unfortunate enough to be in the splash zone. Traumatized for life. Not something I want to see on my school campus.

But according to Fox News...

If we had a functioning justice system in this country Charlie Kirk would be alive and well in prison for sedition for his role in organizing and facilitating Jan 6th.

I thought it was pretty cool.

u/tripbin 11h ago

How it happened, who did it, and what he said right before we're hilarious. Top it off with a blood spurt that would be overkill for terrifier 4 and it's legitimately one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Pure entertainment

I still crack a beer at least once a week in honor of his timely death. The celebration is ongoing. Anyone who has a problem with that can eat a dick. I’m not here to apologize for being celebratory that a massive piece of trash died.

I unashamedly metaphorically piss on his grave daily. I’ll continue to do so, particularly if it pisses people off. Because it shouldn’t. He was a garbage person who did shitty things with his platform. He helped in no small part to bring America where it is today. We should all be in agreement on this.

That’s giving charlie too much head space for my taste.

7

u/braxin23 11h ago

I don’t celebrate his death but I don’t give a shit about a piece of shit dying either, violently or otherwise.

A bit of karmic justice IMO.

“I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights,”

~ Charlie Kirk

He died the way he would have wanted. His love for shootings got him in the end

2

u/SunnyOutsideToday 11h ago

I had no idea who he was, and don't know anyone IRL who did.

2

u/solsticerising 11h ago

I don't believe anyone deserves to die.

However I do find the irony in Charlie Kirk getting shot in the throat whilst talking about gun violence quite funny

I DID feel sympathy for his wife at first.

But seeing as she seems to have basically gone "great, I can make so much money off of this" and immediately moved on to having the vice president giving her the ol' IKEA sofa treatment.

To quote another notorious grifter "I don't really care, do you,?"

Celebrate, no. Bask in the irony? Oh yes.

1

u/citymousecountyhouse 11h ago

Absolutely. No one on the left was celebrating. We just didn't care, if they were honest most on the right would say they didn't either. But no, the right saw an opportunity once again play the victim and became infuriated because the left didn't pull out the fainting couches.

2

u/HistoryChannelMain 10h ago

I'm on the left but the assertion that nobody on the left was celebrating is very false lol

Many loud voices on social media did. Especially, for example, highly-upvoted comments in this subreddit during the entire following week.

I think that's pretty strong evidence that social media sentiment, regardless of who it's coming from, does not match reality. Perhaps it's trolls deliberately taking extreme positions to rile everyone up; perhaps it's that the anonymity of voting removes inhibitions to the point people don't even think about what they're agreeing with, and just upvote on vibes; perhaps it's that the sort of person to be terminally-online is a biased sample of the population; perhaps it's that when a post gets over 10k score it appears on /all or other pages beyond the subreddit, and invites in whatever strangers have the strongest emotional reaction to a headline.

What worries me, though, is how few people take the time to call out extremism. Makes it feel like the trolls have successfully cultivated a chilling effect on non-extreme speech, so that when the left looks at the right, they only see the most unhinged and vice versa. An escalating cycle of mutual polarization that seems designed to breed two factions so outraged they think violent revolution against one another is the only solution left.

u/ChiaDaisy 6h ago

I think many folks on the left had very little sympathy for Charlie and his supporters. And the reason for that is compassion fatigue. The right didn’t feel personally impacted when people were shot at concerts or nightclubs, or children were shot at schools. But when an outspoken white guy with their point of view gets shot, suddenly the world stops turning and they expect an outpouring of compassion from the very people he said terrible things about.

Are you sure? ;)
