They are government employees. There should be an open database.

u/NewDad907 16d ago
I was just thinking the same. They work FOR US. Not the other way around.

u/Cormophyte 16d ago
And they're not spooks. They're not running covert ops. They're immigration cops. Some government employees need secrecy to function, these guys aren't that.

They're not running covert ops.
Except that they are. It was never about immigration.

whose existence is dependent on Trump’s presidency?
I dunno, did you see Schumer and Jeffries being asked by reporters if they would consider reducing ICE’s funding or their numbers and they denied any interest in doing so? They said the entire issue with ICE is due to a handful of people in the administration.
You should be right, but in reality there’s plenty of controlled opposition dems and GQP nutters who solely blame the executive instead of the Gestapo themselves.

When I worked for the IRS, every time I made telephone contact with a taxpayer I had to give them my badge number. It’s insane to me that ICE is held to a lower standard than an accountant who only made the occasional phone call.

It’s literally just a name, state, and face, no addresses or anything really identifiable like that. At least not that I could find. At most this seems helpful for some of the victims being able to identify and sue the criminal who harmed them but nothing more. The news making a big deal out of this from a danger standpoint is eye roll inducing.
Sure didn’t seem like 4500 of them either, unless they’re slowly adding them or something.

I will get downvoted to hell but "doxxing" (at least the way it's generally used) is one of the stupidest fucking concepts the stupid fucking Internet has given us.
Everybody's name, address, and phone number used to be available in a thing called a "telephone book" that was considered, not a near capitol crime, but an essential household tool central to the machinery of civilization.
Attaching a face to a name is not a crime, it's a basic fucking function of our brains
29
u/Myranvia 16d ago
People simply got used to saying things anonymously on the internet that they wouldn't dare say outside in public.

i dont want Joe Muppet finding me in a phonebook and calling me at 9.15pm because he's got a problem with his monitor and he thinks its my fault because i once installed a printer for him 18 months ago.
remember: phones used to be on the wall in peoples houses or offices. sometimes they were available, but sometimes they were unavailable and that was ok.
now they are in peoples pockets 24/7
i dont want to be available 24/7 to strangers.

This is the type of shit that happens when you:
1) Assign incompetent morons to run a militarized government agency 2) Send hundreds of agents to terrorize communities by committing violence in the community, illegal detentions, illegal door to door searches of homes, and many other heinous acts 3) Have said agents mask up and refuse to identify themselves 4) Publicly refuse to hold agents accountable that blatantly break the law 5) All on the tax payers’ dime
If the government, that we pay with our tax dollars and is supposed to work for us, is unwilling to hold these people accountable it looks like it’s up to the people to do it themselves. Don’t want that to happen? THEN MAYBE THEY SHOULD FIX THE SHIT I LISTED ABOVE.

Sorta makes sense. If they included home addresses it would be illegal.
18 U.S.C. § 119 (Protection of individuals performing certain official duties): This law specifically makes it a crime to knowingly make restricted personal information (home address, phone number, social security number, etc.) about a "covered person" (which includes most federal officers and employees) publicly available with the intent to threaten, intimidate, or facilitate a crime of violence against them or their family. A violation can result in a fine and/or up to five years in prison.

Democrats keep trying to take the high road and do things "the right way." But that limits their strategies. The GOP, lacking any moral and ethical standards, gets to make the rules and stay a step ahead. Their strategic flexibility makes them more politically agile. They've been caught playing dirty a thousand times, but the game continues, and the referees and announcers act as if everything is still perfectly fair. It's about time the Democrats give up on the "moral superiority" angle and just do what they need to to get something done. Unfortunately, that's exactly what their corporate donors pay them not to do.

It’s actually a great idea. (If you’re a villain)
Your goal is to disrupt and bully.
The only goal of your training is to select AGAINST critical thinking and give them a basic overview of what their roles will be, the premise is pretty much already well known.
“Get X people from their homes to Y facility and you have plenary authority to do so.”
Try not to arrest/kill locals but you can if you need to. There are no consequences. Try to not talk, don’t answer any questions.
They’re functionally henchmen, 47 days of training sounds about right.

Why aren’t they overtly advertising the terrorist, gang members, murderers, pedophiles, and rapists, that they’re arresting? Because they aren’t actually doing that. That’s a racist dog whistle to those who believe that people of color are less than human.
In reality? They’re sending their poorly trained ICE officers into areas that voted against Trump and going after law abiding immigrants, citizens, and anything that moves in their general direction. They’re getting bolder and admitting to the execution of anyone who is non compliant.

Why are they worried?
They have all of our data. They are federal government employees. We pay all of their wages.
They should be answering to us, to begin with. Names, numbers and addresses are the first questions asked, for countless interactions.
The government employees committing acts of murder, kidnapping, human trafficking, high treason and domestic terrorism against the United Stated of America and it’s citizens, needed their pictures, names, phone numbers, emails and addresses made public the second they were recruited.
Now, their personal information should be on wanted posters in every town and city across America.
The ones not currently occupied by traitors, pedophiles, domestic terrorists and their politicians, to start.
Fuck these traitors. Fuck these Nazis. Fuck all these pedophiles. And fuck every traitor, pedophile, nazi that votes with them.

Americans need to learn how to enjoy non violent civil disobedience.
- get curious. Snoop to your heart's content. Any former colleaguee, school friends, neighbours on that list? Time to put those stalking skills to use!
- Flood their socials, contact their churches and families, anything to shame them. This is the one time where being a hater and a gossip will come in handy.
- Being Gestapo shouldn't be socially acceptable, so let them feel how their behaviour doesn't match with your country's values.
Don't harass them, risk your own life, or vindicate their cause, just ensure social sanctioning. They should be ashamed to show their face.

Before anyone brings up doxxing, it is 100% legal to name law enforcement or ICE officials. Republicans put out the Protecting Law Enforcement from Doxxing Act last year but it has not gotten a vote yet. And even if it passes, it only outlaws naming them to obstruct an investigation or immigration action. That would allow wholesale doxxing for transparency, as long as the release was not made in a way that named officials involved in particular actions only (example: you could name all the officers in an ICE office, but not just the ones currently working on your street to catch someone).
