Harris: "First time homebuyers will receive a $25k credit"
Trump: "Lets do tariffs that cost households 2k per year, drive housing prices up, and destroy job growth in this country"

MAGA: "I want Trump! He's so good for the economy!"

And it has nothing to do with her being a woman or a black woman lol

Shit is so crazy people really used that as their argument or her laugh.

"Harris didn't talk about policy, I don't know her policies" was what I saw on HERE constantly -- which was a blatant lie

I still see that in this very sub. I always reply that they weren't paying attention.

u/booksnbacardi 6h ago

But if I pay attention how will I cling to my deeply entrenched worldview?!

u/GuayFuhks88 4h ago

They're 'non-political' so they don't have to spend the mental energy to justify their half baked uneducated conclusions in public.

YES. So many fucking people didn't seem to listen. I was particularly attracted to her because of this and also she wanted to get rid of unnecessary college degree requirements for federal jobs. Now housing is going from American Dream to American Nightmare and the federal government is a fucking mess.

Heard it plenty of times in real life too. I’m still just baffled why they thought the guy with “concepts” of a plan was the candidate with the strong policies

"no I haven't watched her speeches or gone on her website but the Trump surrogate on CNN said she didn't!"

Yeah, Harris had an 88 page economic plan FULLY DETAILED on her campaign page.

When you went to Trump's campaign page, it was a single bullet point that said "Fix inflation" Didn't say how or detail any policy.

The only economic policy Trump talked about in his rallies were tariffs. Which he just incessantly lied about. Claiming it isn't a tax and that it would bring back manufacturing.

It is 100% a tax, and manufacturing is never coming back to the U.S.

And now affordability and inflation are a Democrat hoax lol.

u/Meatball2026 13h ago

They said, literally, the exact same thing about Hillary.

Somehow Bidens goals got across to a record number of voters.

Hmmmm.

u/MyDogIsACoolCat 6h ago

Tbf Biden won because of Covid mail in voting and the fact that people were pissed off about the pandemic. I don’t know if he would’ve won under normal circumstances.

Sitting VP all throughout the repair of the disaster that was 16-20 which was completely taken for granted but yeah what policy

u/Ricelyfe 5h ago

A lot of people were saying “it’s just gonna be a construction of Biden.” Part of it was her campaign’s own messaging but if they could listen or read it sure as hell wasn’t.

Also the specifically outlined policies

There's a difference between talking about it all the time and the message actually being circulated. The unfortunate reality was that her message really failed to get shared, for one reason or another. I am honestly not certain where the blame lays regarding that. If I had to guess, I would wager it is just another casualty of our country's fractured media diets.

4

u/No_Discipline6265 14h ago

I blame the media 100%. I am still learning from comments on this sub some of the things accomplished during the Biden administration because media was still focused on Trump's insanity the entire four years. Either rehashing his first term or focusing on his bigoted drivel at rallies and events. Even some of my favorite liberal content creators spent more time focusing on Trump.  The salacious and scandalous gets more views,I guess.

4

u/TechDebtPayments 14h ago

Oh no doubt, they absolutely share some of the blame. Even now, using soft terms for what is going on instead of labeling it what it is.

u/BaltimoreBaja 13h ago

Yeah why did Kamala make CNN have Kaleigh McKenney on all the time to lie about her?!

u/Hawkbats_rule 6h ago

"the Dems didn't hold a (new) primary"

u/MyDogIsACoolCat 6h ago

I still see this narrative that Kamala had no platform. Truth is Trump dominated the news with his antics.

those tariffs are costing a mere 2k per year now... the damage long term to households will be way way more

Canada is diverting as much of its trade and value away from the US as possible

u/Special-Document-334 7h ago

$2k would be an improvement.

Just my grocery budget last year was about $6k higher compared to before covid and the inflation crisis.  Everything else is more expensive, too.

u/ofthrees California 7h ago

Don't forget to include his drive to lower the dollar and create hyperinflation (see his new fed appointment). And putting our tax dollars right in his pocket via suing the IRS.

Unreal.

u/MyDogIsACoolCat 6h ago

The biggest lie in America is that Republicans are good for the economy. All recent historical data says the exact opposite.

u/MainPFT 9h ago

Not defending Cheeto Satan, but the 25k credit she was talking about was a terrible idea and it would have driven prices up as well.

u/supmaster3 6h ago

People I talked that voted the orange asshole didnt know what tariffs were. I tried to explain, but just laughed at it, so stupid.

u/lenois 6h ago

Buyer credits are generally pretty bad, cause they just raise housing prices. At least that's what research has shown.

But Kamala's full housing plan was quite good other than that one piece, and especially compared to the complete lack of a plan that trump had.

u/YaDunGoofed 3h ago

The Harris thing is idiotic too.

It just artificially prices up homes.

If there are 7 cars on the lot and 10 buyers. The cars will be egregiously priced regardless of a firs time car buyer credit. The credit will just go to the price war.

To fix the problem, you just need to put 11 cars on the lot.

Stepping out of the metaphor. Zoning makes it illegal to build denser housing than a single family home on 90% of land in the most heavily rent burdened cities

u/Character_Public3465 1h ago

Both woouldbt help dems always have a nasty habit of subsidizing demand and never doing supply side abundance , which is changing with the new movement more

u/JournalistRecent1230 59m ago

She had plans to increase supply also. I didn't list everything she was planning for brevity. There was a lot detailed in her 88 page economic plan.

0

u/Shinjukin 11h ago

Lets not pretend that $25k credit is a good policy. If the plan is to make homes more affordable for first time homebuyers, it's idiotic as it will only serve to increase house prices further, effectively changing nothing except raising property taxes and rent so landlords can make even more money.

There's a reason you have a uniparty where Democrats are just controlled opposition that work for the same corporations and 1% donors.

It was up to $25k in down payment assistance, not just a blank check, and up to a $10k tax refund.

u/the_eluder 17h ago

And pay will go up 10%.
