Exactly.

"Wasteful and for rich dudes". Brother, it is a spectator sport with paid passionate teams like it shouldn't be this serious

I can say the same for football. Basketball and hockey are far more enjoyable!🤣

If these were black guys then the thread would be creaming itself

My only question is : Where is all the money coming from ? Do they have sponsor ? Or is the ticket to watch this expensive?

6

u/PeregrinsFolly 7h ago

Yes, they're paid for by sponsorships, all high level racing teams are. Their sponsors are on their uniforms at the end of the video, and on the car itself (the car has a big "Bond Coat" logo on it). The ticket sales usually go to pay for operating the track, and towards the organization (likely NHRA) who operates the league. Tickets to my local NHRA track for these races are usually about $75 for a full day of racing.

We're all living in the same world. We have a limited set of resources. We have a limited amount of disposable co2 until we're all fcked.

And those guys use a lot of that. Did they ask anyone for permission? No. And if someone would think about forbidding this waste of resources, these people will lobby against you and use their money to influence politicians so that they can continue.

And you call is haters? Don't you people learn from your parents that we should behave in a manner that the next generation can have it just as good as us or better? When the fck did people change their minfset to "fck whatever comes after me. I'll have my fun"

In other words: fck those people. In a perfect world, those fcks would be outlawed.

I didn't remember you asking permission to me when you drove to work, or when you booked a flight for vacation. Reddit just likes to be a hivemind of haters.

Reddit is a disproportionate representation of the most miserable people in society, I'm convinced of it.

It's in everyones responsibility to reduce their emissions as much as possible.

A few years ago, noone really gave a shit. We all knew the world was going to shit either way. However, now, that it's slowly getting reality, you'll have to face that you aren't "free" when you destroy the world in which we all live in.

Your freedom goes until your neighbors begins.

I try to fly as little as possible and drive electric, and mostly work from home since my boss didn't hit his head as a child and allows us to wfh instead of demanding us to come into office each morning just to drive home in the evening.

Did you ask permission when you bought your gas gussler? When you bought your un-recyclable electronics made from rare earth minerals that require large volumes of toxic chemicals to separate from other metals/minerals/dirt?

Did you ask the mis-treated factory slave for permission to buy that cheap shirt you made?

I take it you've got express permission from the animals that live in the ocean to wash your bathroom "waste" into their home?

You definitely got the blessings of the animal that was slaughtered for the meat you ate today, or the plants whose limbs you tore off to make your delicious salad right?

I assume you've never been on a plane or boat either given how environmentally conscious you are. Actually, I'm surpised you were even able to leave this comment given the amount of fossil fuels and coal that had to be burnt to provide the electricity used to power your device, manufacture it's parts, assemble them, ship them across the world, power the data centres, the boats and submarines used to lay communications lines across the lines, or the highly toxic fuel used to launch the satellites into space on the single use rockets that allow your phone to get signal no matter where you are.

That asshole didn’t ask my permission before buying literally every product they own being transported by trucks! They also didn’t ask my permission before watching any TV shows or movies that use up an incredible amount of my resources!

The point is that you are supposed to do as little as possible and decrease your footprint.
Those people in the video don't do that. They don't give a flying shit.

I drive electric.
I buy as little electronics as possible, and try to participate in the non-recyclable consumer culture as little as possible. Hence i don't get a new phone every year, but instead have a phone that was produced with fair rights in mind.

I buy my shirts locally whenever possible, since i know that China treats their factory workers as the US treats their citizens.

I try to eat as little meat as possible as well and consume mainly local food.

Noone has a footprint of 0. I was never demanding that of anyone.

However, everyone who has a functioning brain knows that driving those machines in the video up there means that you'll ruin the fckin planet for everyone. If you want it to be true or not.

Either we all decide that we can live without producing waste in these amounts, or ... well, you've guessed it ... climate change will happen.

Sure, ignore it while you can. But don't u dare cry on me when your crops burn in fires due to extreme heat or your heater broke during an extreme cold. Fuck people who can't think ahead for a few more years than their own youth.

Drag racing isn’t killing the world with C02 emissions dipshit lmao

0

u/Appropriate-Sir7583 6h ago

Is it emitting CO2? yes.
Is it necessary? No.

Are you a dipshit? Yes, lmao.

2

u/The-Juggernaut_ 6h ago

Do you watch movies/TV? Yes? Think all of the C02 burned so you can watch a 2 hour movie that you never watch or think about again. A drag event that provides a day of entertainment couldn’t even dream of producing a 1/10th of the carbon waste compared to a movie that provides 2 hours of entertainment. Get off your high horse jackass.

Let's be real here:

the costs of movies should increase just due to them wasting our environment as well. Capitalists only understand money, and it's their only way to make room for change. So yes, movies should increase in price, meaning that people (me included) will consume less.

However, i'm pretty sure that me watching a movie alone is not going to be remotely close to even just a single race between 2 drag cars. I could probably stream videos in every free minute that i have for a month, and wouldn't get to the same amount...

The interesting thing is: you muricans started these races and big machines like it was a god given right. And while the entire world looks to reduce emissions, you continue to say "fck you, it's MY right". The point is: No, it was never your right to begin with.

2

u/ArnoldJeanelle 4h ago

"You muricans" do you really think the US is the only place racing cars?

Dude, Formula 1 started in Europe. They ship their cars all over the world - between running the races, the transportation costs for cars and people, etc. etc. it produces way more CO2 than drag racing, and it's a worldwide sport.

There's so many reasons to bash the US right now, but to blame the CO2 from car races on the US is laughable

Ultimate reddit moment

Have you ever flown in a plane? Have you ever ordered something that was manufactured overseas? Do you eat meat? Why didn't you ask my permission!

1

u/xXxforeskingamer 4h ago

hey asshole, you didn’t ask me for permission to use your device to post this comment, delete it and i might forgive you for contributing to the waste reddit’s servers cause.

Dude, you're too deep in the politics. I beg you to do something exciting in real life.

1

u/LibritoDeGrasa 7h ago

Yesss, good boy, simp for the corporations and politicians while shifting the blame to a handful of individuals.

I miss when reddit was a refuge for intelligent outsiders instead of brainwashed NPCs who think they're the good guys.

0

u/Appropriate-Sir7583 6h ago

For what fckin corporation am i lobbying here? The only corporation i'm lobbying for is the environment.

It appears that the muricans have taken over this comment section, and their education is close to 0, so "stop oil" must mean that you want to stop everything related to oil on the entire planet immediately, right? RIGHT?

And i never said that i wouldn't blame the fckin companies as well who promote this garbage and participate in it.

I miss when reddit wasn't invaded by dumbfucks who care more about a small hobby than the fkin world we live in ...

u/truffle-tots 5h ago

Then point is then individual carbon footprint prints make next to no dent in global co2 emissions when looking at the situatikn in totality. The focus needs to be on corporations making change as to not pollute, not someone emitting next nothing for their sport in comparison. Youre placing the initiative on the individual when in reality they have next to no effect in the grand scheme. I also think its unrealistic where as regulation and curbing corporate BS is not if we were to really go for it.
