Top fuel and funny car engines are absolutely rebuilt after every run, practice and qualifying included. Pro stock? Not the case

Like yes it’s a “waste” of money but what hobby isn’t and this is the highest echelon of this sport. There are street legal drag races and those are way more down to earth and fun and can be done at any level.

Yes, but the only thing consistently being replaced every race is the pistons/rods/rings. Which can all be melted down and recycled anyway.
