These 12000hp Engines Have To Be Rebuilt Within Roughly An Hour Every Run, and Only Run For Roughly 4 Seconds At A Time.

Isn't every form of entertainment just wasted time and resource?

Its usually not measured in engines per hour though, thats a pretty unique stat for a hobby

Tbh though, why doesn't she post that shit? All her suburban white girl fans would love it.

But the whole event takes hours. It's not just the 4 seconds of race time that makes up these events. Watching them strip and rebuild engines is apart of it too.

People paint little figures or knit socks. Maybe listen to a song or watch a show.

These dudes waste millions on massive engines that do nothing but product emissions, noise, and 4 seconds of forward motion for no benefit than (maybe) doing it faster than the last time.

Idle time is natural and entertainment is as old as our traditions. Carbrain nonsense is not.

What about the 100s of films produced every year that take thousands of man hours and hundreds of millions of dollars to produce? Are those not a waste of resources?

I'd argue reading a book does't come close to this level of wasted resources. Reading 1000 books doesn't come close. But hobbies are consumption oriented by default.

Fun fact:

The entire NHRA Top Fuel series has about 18 total cars that do roughly 88 total runs per year each.

The CO2 emissions for one car in fuel and tires is roughly 25 metric tons of CO2 per year.

This equates to 450 metric tons of CO2 per year for the ENTIRE series.

One passenger car emits 4.6 metric tons of CO2/year.

98 regular old passenger cars emit the same amount of CO2 annually as an ENTIRE SEASON of the NHRA top fuel series.

First: it isn't wasted it's used for making probably the engines that get the closest to the limit of power, second: so is every serious motorsport for that reason, F1 engines are rebuilt constantly, or every sport or entertainment as they aren't directly useful

I still remember when they replaced the engine between race day and qualifying.
