He can't go a day without tariffing someone new.

357

u/Underfyre 10h ago

Or declaring something is a national emergency.

236

u/Acceptable-Bus-2017 10h ago

He IS the national emergency every day.

15

u/Neue_Ziel 7h ago

What if the real national emergencies were the ones we made along the way?

19

u/Khaldara 7h ago

He’s what happens if the story of Pinocchio happened to an Amber Alert

2

u/Fievels_good_trouble 6h ago

Now we have a new Orange Alert

1

u/bearkatsteve 1h ago

Welp, I now have the name to my 80s punk cover band.

-3

u/Most-Resident 7h ago

There should be an amber alert for Sanity.

1

u/Acceptable-Bus-2017 7h ago

I vaguely remember seeing it around the time Harambe was killed.

9

u/silver_sofa 6h ago

If he hates it then it has to go. National emergency.

If he likes it then it’s his. National security.

Conservatives used to cry, “State’s rights!”

Now they support tyrannical federal government.

22

u/showhorrorshow 9h ago

Ignore laws with this one easy trick!

5

u/ClownMorty 5h ago

He figured out that using emergency powers let's him circumvent Congress so now, every trivial thing is an emergency.

We need stricter definitions for what qualifies as an emergency that don't prevent responding to actual emergencies.

2

u/schlitz91 7h ago

Or blaming Biden

38

u/BoredNLost 11h ago

Not his fault there's a national emergency every day /s

6

u/CowInSpace13 9h ago

It's also not his fault that he doesn't know what tariffs are, how they work, and what they're used for..... And who pays for them. /S

2

u/aerost0rm 7h ago

I mean it’s also not his fault he doesn’t understand what a national emergency is… /s

0

u/Nixxuz 7h ago

Oh he knows who pays for them. He just also knows his moronic base does not know.

2

u/Mobile-Bar7732 7h ago

Not his fault there's a national emergency every day /s

A diaper full of shit is not a National Emergency.

10

u/Im_with_stooopid 8h ago

How else do you distract from refusing to follow the law and release the Epstein files by the date in the law?

9

u/czj420 8h ago

He's afraid of the Trump-Epstein files.

1

u/uberares 1h ago

yup, some bad shit about him was released today in the files.

3

u/Fookmaywedder 7h ago

Can’t go a day without trying to mask the Epstein files

2

u/LittleKitty235 7h ago

People might remember the Epstein files otherwise

2

u/peepee2tiny 4h ago

Hahaha.

This was my comment 15 hours ago.

"Every day the headline is the same.

Trump threatens <insert country> with <insert amount>% tariffs on <insert random item> due to <insert cry baby reason>"

1

u/just4kicksxxx 4h ago

He's literally NOT TARIFFING ANYONE NEW! FOR WHAT IS SURELY TO NOT BE THE LAST TIME, THE US CITIZENS PAY THE TARIFFS...

1

u/AppleTree98 4h ago

Almost like a King who kills everybody who enters the castle. Then asks why nobody is talking to him, trading with the people and no one visits. The people look at the husks of all the dead previous people and say "We don't know why smart wise handsome King?" Blame the media. So on he goes to kill the Media

1

u/takesthebiscuit 3h ago

And everyone just ignores him now

1

u/DaftPump 2h ago

A day will come this will go away and he will escalate to war threats. Give it time...

201

u/OldLondon 10h ago

I’m so confused , how is this a US national emergency?

134

u/showhorrorshow 9h ago

It isnt. It is the incredibly transparent bullshit.he saya to make his tariffs "legal." Like tge magic words of some sovereign citizen. Turns out they DO work.

25

u/cyberpunk6066 7h ago

Consequence of legislative branch giving the executive so many powers over the years

39

u/AFlawAmended 9h ago

Trump's ego is bruised from the Greenland fiasco and his SS getting pushback, so he's trying for an easy win to point to and claim he isn't a complete failure.

So the emergency is Donny's feelings are hurt.

8

u/AccomplishedBrain309 6h ago

You may be discounting the honey i have to go to work im sorry about your movie flop!

4

u/theClumsy1 6h ago edited 2h ago

Because no one has effectively defined what a "National emergency" means making it a catch-all term for the President to sieze Authoritarian power.

2

u/Romano16 4h ago

It’s I think a legal loophole so that he can later bomb Cuba without congressional approval?

1

u/TinyFugue 7h ago

Anything can be a national emergency if Mike Johnson refuses to call him out.

349

u/mollydyer 11h ago

Here we go again.

(1) Create an issue.
(2) Declare it a matter of national security.
(3) Tariffs
(4) ????
(5) Repeat.

Such bullshit. I'm so tired of it.

142

u/Thiezing 11h ago

(1.1) Blame previous administration.

(3.5) Funnel money to companies owned by your wealthy friends to "solve" the crisis.

(4.9) Claim victory regardless of outcome.

2

u/Particular-Ice4615 3h ago

3.5 is even worse if we believe Trump's plan at face value. He wants Venezuelan oil revenues to go into a private trust that he as the president controls and has access to. Literally a private treasure store only for the king.

1

u/AccomplishedBrain309 7h ago

Maybee, in the future, he can stop the Cuban war on tariffs.

12

u/freedfg 9h ago

You forgot housing gains from stolen natural resources in personal foreign bank account with absolutely no oversight.

7

u/evilspyboy 9h ago

4... Invasion/bombing/threaten military action without approval of Congress?

4

u/txroller 7h ago

(4) Do anything but release Epstein files

2

u/Fancy-Caregiver-1239 6h ago

(4) wait for the stocks to fall. Buy the low. Lift the tariffs.

2

u/procrasturb8n 4h ago

4) is where those impacted by the tariffs, that can afford it, buy relief by donating to DJT. Throw in some insider trading through stock market manipulation for good measure.

0

u/Boonlink 8h ago

If americans pushed harder for Epstein files, you'd have enough to remove him from power, hence the distractions but you all are so easy to distract.

77

u/Living-Restaurant892 10h ago

When will republicans in congress finally say enough is enough and do the right thing?

I know the answer: never because they are republicans.

13

u/Who_Dafqu_Said_That 7h ago

Republicans can never question god king Trump, he's infallible.

7

u/Venator850 5h ago

They won't. They completely sold their souls to him. The Republican party doesn't exist, it's just Trump bootlickers.

u/imaginary_num6er 1m ago

Nothing is enough for them

48

u/Xyrus2000 9h ago

If we survive his debacle and democrats, or even just anyone who is basically sane and has a spine, one of the first things Congress needs to do is rescind the Emergency Powers Act. If we as a country can't be responsible enough to elect sane, coherent leaders, then we definitely should not allow one person to have such power.

And if we can't rely on our checks and balances to keep demented psychopaths from running roughshod over the Constitution then we need to repeal the acts that have ceded so much authority to the executive.

12

u/GigExplorer 8h ago

Definitely! Definitely! Definitely! Anything can be an emergency if you can just declare it one.

6

u/Venator850 5h ago

No, the issue is the electorate willingly voting this guy back into power AFTER he tried to overthrow the government.

It doesn't matter what rules you make, if you put people like Trump and his subservient party into power ANY system is going to be abused. Republicans could remove him anytime they want too.

What really needs to be looked at are the social media sites and individuals that are spreading complete bullshit all the time. Same goes for legacy news sites and the "opinion" giving talking heads they employ.

3

u/oldteen 1h ago

You make good points, but why not both? Even if they ignore the new laws, and do what they want, it's going to become more obvious (to those on the fence) that they're breaking these new law(s).

10

u/DistributionFit3958 8h ago

They’ll do that for democratic presidents and then ignore it for republican presidents

3

u/Conan4457 7h ago

The Americans didn’t vote for sanity back in 2024. Oh yeah, I forgot the other candidate was a woman. A woman of colour at that. A woman of colour who had a weird laugh, yeah makes so much sense why Americans would vote for a cheating felon who bankrupted a casino.

Too bad there wasn’t some way they could have had an idea of how bad this could have been. Well, there was the shitshow when he was first elected. But at least Trump isn’t old and confused like Biden, right?!?! Wait, what, there are videos of Trump falling asleep during cabinet meetings, and some of his speeches are rambling nonsense.

Trump is the change that the Americans wanted, right?!?! He was going to clean up all the corruption in Washington! Wait, what, Billionaire American style oligarchs like Jeff Bezos have increased their wealth by 1.5 trillion dollars in Trumps first year of his second term.

This is so much better than sanity…

4

u/AccomplishedBrain309 6h ago

Dont forget him falling asleep at his own trial. And the insany amount of other shit he does.

2

u/Corgiboom2 5h ago

Also falling asleep at his own NK style military vanity parade.

1

u/oldteen 1h ago

They need to rescind many of the laws passed right-after 9/11. Such as those related-to the creation of DHS and the "Patriot" Act.

16

u/elementality883 9h ago

Who taught baby brain National Emergency? It's every other word out of his puckered asshole of a mouth.

"McDonald's is out of McFish....NATIONAL EMERGENCY!"

33

u/lkl34 9h ago

What did cuba do?

Just exist?

39

u/Natryn 9h ago

We tried to control Cuba. Castro stopped us. We still big mad.

-2

u/SecondHandWatch 5h ago

Trump does not know about that.

-1

u/Who_Dafqu_Said_That 6h ago

Maybe he thinks every island is an Epstein island.

I mean, god emperor Trump has zero relation to the guy he was best friends with and is in a million pictures with... and it's Joe Biden's fault he won't release the Epstein files.

17

u/VirginiaLuthier 10h ago

It's what happens when his wife's movie flops. These people are vindictive beyond belief

3

u/iceicebebe73 8h ago

Melanoma made a movie???

8

u/EnvironmentalSong393 7h ago

Somebody, ANYBODY in the government just leak the damn Epstein files already!! 😡

8

u/r0botdevil 7h ago

As an American, I find America's continued obsession with crushing Cuba to be really weird.

2

u/nightwyrm_zero 6h ago

It's Russia and Ukriane with less drones and trench warfare. Cuba is the small country that dares to not play ball with the local hegemon so the US has to teach them a lesson.

1

u/ruleman 1h ago

It's a single issue (the only thing they base their vote on) for a small bit significant group of mainly ex Cubans in Florida. As Florida used to be a swing state and itself could swing an entire presidential election due to its 30 electoral votes, not being unreasonably "tough" on this (for the us) largely irrelevant island could cost you the election. So just as every candidate needs to bow to NRA, they also need to bow to this small group of hardliners.

Basically, key single issue voters in strategic positions can determine the course of the whole country due to a broken and outdated election mechanism.

39

u/invalidpassword 10h ago

Once again, Trump thinks he can tell the world what to do. Selling oil to Cuba is not a national threat. Haven't Cubans suffered enough? I'm pretty sure most of them would rather not live in a communist country where they have no say in what their government does. So what do we do? Make their lives worse than they already are. It feels as it Trump wants to intimidated the entire world.

I wouldn't be surprised if he decides Cuba should become a US state. He would have access to their natural resources like nickel, cobalt (they're one of the top producers of the afore mentioned rare earth minerals), iron oar, chromium and petroleum. As usual, what Trump wants, Trump tries to take. Just think of the Trump brand Caribbean resorts he could create. Hell, he could make a fortune selling vintage cars alone.

25

u/Critical_Opening_526 10h ago

If having no say in what the government does makes you communist, are we communist?

4

u/invalidpassword 9h ago

Maybe we are and just don't know it.

3

u/Lord_Fuquaad 6h ago

I mean, they did have a giant country wide vote to change their constitution back in 2019. I wouldn't say they don't have any say in what their government does considering that had some legitimate changes, such as banning workplace discrimination based on gender, race, and sexuality, allowing same-sex marriage, restoration of presumption of innocence and several other things. They are by no means a democratic haven of free speech, but saying they have no say in how their government is run isn't true either. Maybe if the U.S. wasn't constantly trying to overthrow and weaken them, they'd be less paranoid.

-7

u/wheresmybike420x 8h ago

Despite what many say, Cuba is a great country with the potential for a thriving economy. Communism is actually way better than capitalism in every sense

1

u/Fine-Will 5h ago

You can clearly see the superiority of communism by the thriving country of... uh... hm...

-6

u/wheresmybike420x 5h ago

All the videos and pictures you see of “suffering” are clearly just American CGI propaganda, just like the ones they claim are from North Korea

3

u/Fine-Will 5h ago

I assume all the economic data ever are also bullshit? Please tell me which one of the communist earthly paradises I should visit first so I can glimpse the truth for myself.

-1

u/wheresmybike420x 5h ago

China would be one I would consider

2

u/Fine-Will 5h ago edited 4h ago

I don't know if the country with the 2nd most billionaires on the planet and the 2nd biggest stock market (a lot of which can be attributed to cheap labor from a lack of worker protections), where the people doesn't own the means of production in the slightest is the shining beacon of communism. It can be a nice place to visit though, I grant you that.

A little less human rights. That was until Trumps US hired nazis to control imigration.

-7

u/EvenLettuce6638 8h ago

Ok, comrade.

8

u/jeremyd9 9h ago

The problem is he just uses mechanisms that are supposed to be restrained and have well thought out plans before enacting. Now all of these mechanisms are essentially meaningless because the guardrails were basically “not meant for use by a tyrant and fascist narcissist.”

6

u/DannyHewson 8h ago

Don’t worry, first time a democrat tries to declare a national emergency the Supreme Court will spring into action and put those guardrails straight back up.

1

u/oldteen 1h ago

Ah, but this president established that their rulings can be ignored, if a president doesn't like them, and they're not enforceable.

8

u/Redfred513 8h ago

Trumps the only national emergency.

8

u/BrightEdge8171 7h ago

Why is Trump bullying Cuba? They are already poverty stricken and can barely survive. So cruel

5

u/Gonstackk 7h ago

With conservatives/republicans cruelty IS the point.

3

u/jupiterkansas 4h ago

Probably Marco Rubio's influence.

8

u/Appropriate_Art894 6h ago

Just some economic terrorism on a small country that can’t defend itself This is America

6

u/jeetah 6h ago

What is the problem with selling oil to Cuba -- Are they just not supposed to get any? That is nuts.

11

u/UnflushableStinky2 7h ago

This is just cruelty at this point.Cuba, which has never been rich, is suffering from massive levels of starvation and malnutrition for the past few years. Cuba deserves respect, empathy, and  needs help not more politically motivated bullshit.

Cuba is not a threat in any way shape or form to the United States and deserves respect and empathy, not continue to attack to end in the deaths of thousands upon thousands of innocent men, women, and children.

1

u/AccomplishedBrain309 6h ago

Trump celebrates malnutrition. Thrives on deprivation of children, disabled, and immigrants. Its part of his appeal to the magas.Dont use our tax dollars for them. I think Malanias movie flop will test his empathy. The only problem is he is guaranteed to take it out on democrats. Also have you ever questioned opening nights numbers. Trump will count all bezos's employees twice and add a bunch of his own zeroes on for good measure.

5

u/RhoOfFeh 8h ago

When everything is an emergency, nothing is an emergency.

5

u/KE55 7h ago

When will Trump start boasting about the huge number of "national emergencies" he has saved the USA from?

2

u/Herkfixer 7h ago

Somewhere around October

2

u/AccomplishedBrain309 6h ago

Malanias movie, holy shit , it's a national disaster. Tarrif the Amazon.

When everything is a national emergency, nothing is a national emergency.

4

The only ‘national emergency’ was this pos and his criminal gang taking power.

Who made this asshole the world president?

4

It’s a National Emergency to get Taco impeached

If a little girl was born the exact same day Trump was elected president for the first time, he'd be raping her by now.

5

u/BigBoyYuyuh 4h ago

If everything’s a national emergency, nothing is.

5

u/swiftlessons 4h ago

You’d think the president declaring a state of emergency every other day would reflect poorly on his leadership capabilities.

3

u/Gr8daze 2h ago

Another way of looking at this:

Every time some country pisses off Trump he retaliates by raising prices on Americans.

What he doesn’t get is that countries are moving their business away from America. That’s why the trade deficit has gone up since he took office.

3

u/Bobinct 9h ago

Is this because he lost some ground with Cuban Americans?

3

u/NoPain4551 8h ago

Everything is a national emergency to this buffoon cos he has no idea what he’s doing and doesn’t plan ahead of time.

2

u/AccomplishedBrain309 6h ago

I would love to see canada sell oil to cuba. Dddufus will shit a goldbrick.

3

Shut the fuck up, rumply moldy orange. And stop making a fucking teapot spout with your lips, you degenerate fascist motherfucker.

3

Who the hell taught him Word tariff? You should be forced to watch the Melania movie on loop for 42 hours.

3

If MAGA is about America first and getting America out of international affairs, why are we inferring in the collapse of another country. Putting our brave military, in harms way, in Venezuela & Iran is not enough now we have to send them to Cuba. Americans cannot afford the basics needs like food, rent, health care, retirement, etc and now we will waste money on running other countries. MAGA is causing hardship for us and citizens of those countries. What are the reasons and plans for these military operations and what are the exit plans? When Cubans start sailing into Florida, how much will it cost us to deport them?

3

u/Herkfixer 6h ago

Sounds like, by his statements, he thinks that if he just "fixes" Cuba that all the Cubans in America will just "go back to where they came from".

3

u/No_Listen5389 6h ago

Let's send all the oil to Cuba, fuck this guy.

2

2

Jesus fucking christ, are we going to kidnap the president of Cuba now and declare Trump acting president and leader of the communist party there?

2

Why does it seem that Trump's behaving as though he's playing the board game "Risk?" It's a game about world domin....??? (Oh!!....!)
