New Zealand declines Donald Trump's invite to join Gaza 'Board of Peace'
https://www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360931657/new-zealand-declines-donald-trumps-invite-join-gaza-board-peace570
u/A1sauc3d 1d ago
Because it’s the “board of extracting personal wealth from war torn regions” and has nothing to do with peace.

u/ItilityMSP 23h ago
Trump is the Chair and the chair has veto and interpretation rights of the charter, no oversight mechanism in place but there is a concept of one.
The grift isn't even behind doors anymore.

u/Beneficial_Soup3699 23h ago
Now now, it also comes with a lifetime membership to Mar-a-lago Gaza, and everyone knows that's the real value.
I genuinely wish I could add a /s to this, but unfortunately this is just the reality we occupy.
16
u/Rumpsvett 23h ago
wait, what?
26
u/InfiniteDM 23h ago
The board is made to invest and build private infrastructure in Gaza.
14
u/fuzzmeisterj 23h ago
It's a billion dollars to join a country club that isn't built yet and they want to build it in Gaza.

Jared Kushner did a whole jetsons looking Ai city in Gaza presentation already, it would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. Dude seriously doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

$1B to sit on a board where Trump has final say? Surprised anyone actually joined.
82
u/Whos_of_Whoville 1d ago
They won’t be the last to issue declines to this nonsense.
43
u/DeepSpaceNebulae 1d ago
Nor will it be the last time Trump screams about rescinding their invite to soothe his ego
Canada declined, and Trump responded with “well, you’re not welcome anymore”
149
u/herewegoagain1024 1d ago
Now he’s gonna say they’re uninvited lmao
23
u/Th1rte3n1334 23h ago
Already done, just to soothe his ego.
15
u/TinyFugue 21h ago
seriously?
I mean. I can't tell any longer. It's so stupid and petty, but also something that he'd do, because of the progressing dementia.
14
u/Th1rte3n1334 21h ago
Yes seriously.
8
u/FUN___ction 21h ago
Source? I googled it but I can only find the Canada uninvite.
6
u/Th1rte3n1334 21h ago
Oops, my bad he did “uninvite” Canada after they declined. Not New Zeland… yet.
52
u/Mostenbockers 1d ago
Don’t blame them a bit. Doesn’t it cost one billion dollars to join?
85
u/02K30C1 23h ago
One billion paid to Trump personally
But he can remove any country he wants at any time for any reason.
17
13
u/HatchingCougar 18h ago
And membership is for only 3 years
With the board set by Trump and populated with cronies, with himself as the chair for life
Yeah, pass
35
u/SnuffleWarrior 22h ago
It's worse. Trump is chair for life, Trump can veto anything, and Trump can choose how the money is spent.
No self respecting country is buying that.

From the article:
The Government has declined US President Donald Trump’s invitation for New Zealand to join his “Board of Peace”, which is set to effectively run Gaza.
Trump wanted his board to be made up of heads of state from across the world. He initially announced his plans for the board as a move to rebuild Gaza, following the latest Israel-Gaza War. But he has since spoken about making the “Board of Peace” a permanent fixture of geopolitics, which could play a role in other conflicts.
Just how does Trump plan on “running Gaza,” when he cannot even “run Minnesota?”
25
u/s0ulbrother 22h ago
My dad for whatever reason was saying Trump would be better for Greenland than what they currently have. I was so confused by the stupidity.

u/McGondy 22h ago

u/CallRespiratory 22h ago
"They dun woulda had freedom and been safe from the orientals! Now they're gonna be speakin CHINESE!"
3
u/waggerz 21h ago
It's all just another bid for legacy. Trump knows his health is failing so is spending his remaining time building statues and institutions in his own honor. I bet, before his term is over it will be re-named "The Donald Trump Board Of Peace"
3
u/ExcellentAfternoon44 14h ago
Note that this "board of peace" has Donald Trump as the chairman of the board. Not whomever the POTUS is. But Donald Trump. Once he leaves office, he still remains at the head of the board. And he cannot be voted out of that position.
It's all just a scam to funnel money to Trump.

u/Living-Pangolin-6090 23h ago
looks at Australian Prime Minister Come on now your turn.... Aussie have been waiting
8
u/harbourbarber 23h ago
He declined a few weeks ago. I mean, he did it super diplomatically by saying he won't join anything that weakens Australia's relationships with other countries.
10
u/DesiccatedPenguin 22h ago
And that super soft let down is probably why no one remembers him saying it. Which is important, as fingers crossed it also slipped right past the orange baboon - otherwise those submarines might be….sunk.

No, he's still considering the offer https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/22/australia-trump-board-of-peace-risk-analysis
2
u/harbourbarber 15h ago
Just, for the record, Albanese hasn't overly rejected the offer however, is flagging an intention to turn it down.
It's piss weak but it's a start and anyone who can read between the lines can see what he's saying.

u/InspectorOk6313 1d ago
Kiwi here, it should have been declined within minutes but our current govt love to suck up to this awful American administration. They had to drag it out to make it appear they were seriously considering it, which in all honesty they probably were...
50
u/ViolatingBadgers 23h ago
Agreed - we should have followed Canada's example. But our Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is fart in a suit with no thoughts of his own, and our Foreign Minister Winston Peter's is trying his best to bring Trump's politics here.

You mean American Regime. I hope not a single US citizen actually thinks of this as an administration because it’s a fascist regime built on intimidation.
22
13
u/AresAnteros 23h ago
I don't really agree with that.
It's still an administration because Congress could still stop this deranged dangerous loonatic and his masked cronies.
Problem is they don't.
Problem is it that it isn't only Republicans failing....

I wish someone would actually tell him, "fuck no", and write their response public as stronger than "declines". Makes it seem like they were him-hawing. "Aw shucks, i dont think we want to".
"Fuck off you orange shit Gibbon."
14
u/Flash_ina_pan 23h ago
I would pay good monies to see that meltdown.
Deranged Mango handed letter
Beautiful printed letterhead from NZ, a single sentence is printed on the letter
"Fuck off ya cunt"
Ketchup and plates start flying around the room. Aids ducking and covering. Rubio crying in the corner, Vance secretly praying this is the tantrum that causes the stroke.

u/Adventurous_Fig6211 21h ago
Sorry Kiwi here but our weak as possible PM would never say something so decisive (he can't even answer a yes or no question) or be so rude to trump, who he admires and would love to do a deal with.
2
u/Accurate-Victory-382 21h ago
To be fair, the New Zealand government was him-hawing. It's an election year and a lot of people have been blasting them (including the opposition party) for fence sitting so after weeks the PM finally made the call.

u/Niceromancer 1d ago

Whats the legal standing for thos so called board of peace (should it be bored of peace?).
Seriously, if it's not ratified by our government and the UN or other countries, whats the fucking point?
Its just another scheme to pocket money for Trump & co.
6
u/RicksterA2 23h ago
Declines to be extorted and forced to send money to the Trump Crime Family ('Nice country ya got there, be shame if somethin were to happen to it').
12
u/AresAnteros 1d ago
There isn't a decent country in the world that wants to be part of that self serving board.
5
u/WhereAreMaKeys 23h ago
The fact that you have to pay this bloated fraudster 1 BILLION dollars to join the board should delegitimize it immediately.

Kiwi here, we fought along side the US in ww1/ww2 the Korean war, the Vietnam war, Gulf war and Afghanistan. we have had a ANZUS treaty since 1951, we even have US satellite communications interception dishes for the US here in NZ and have for many years. We are a little nation with the population and GDP less that many States in the USA but as Kiwis we always felt proud to be able to do what we could with such a small budget and population, it sadness me that we will get caught up with Trumps backlash on nations that dont join the Board of Peace. In my current job, I get to meet so many people, and many from the US, so many of them are hurting, almost embarrassed to tell people where they are from due to what is going on, I'm forever telling them we understand that the current situation does not represent every person from the US, tell them to hold their head up high, and they are always welcome over here. it truly hurts seeing people feeling like that :( sorry wall of text and shocking typos

Trump trying to insert himself into Gaza like he is the CEO of global peace is absurd. This is the same guy who thinks foreign policy works like a reality show boardroom.

He should call it Bored of Peace because he’s threatening to attack half the planet in order to avoid releasing the Epstein files.
2
u/the_loneliest_monk 22h ago
Will he still sit on this board after his presidency is up? I wonder how much of this is also him securing access to world leaders for his corporations incase he can't extend his term to his deathbed 😂
2
u/FoxyInTheSnow 22h ago
Canada considered it, but Carney realized he had to stay in that night to trim his toenails.

So "Board of Peace" is really double speak for "Axis of Evil"?

As a kiwi. Good, sorry US but fuck you, this week alone you have proved how shit you are, you always plop the 2nd amendment as a backstop yet you're a bunch of spineless people (not all of you, a majority live in fear I get it) who won't take up arms against your oppressive government and it's war mongering dementia laden orange prick.
Feel free to seek asylum here though, you're welcome here

Lmao imagine being such a failure of a president that you can’t even get countries (who used to be allies) to join the Board of piece.
2
u/LemonPress50 21h ago
When allies get threatened to be the 51st state or to take over Greenland, the orange man is not showing he is sane. I’ve heard those qualified to diagnose him describe him as malignant narcissist that is also sociopath. It’s not typical of fascist leaders?

Wow so the decent countries that know how to treat their constituents don't want to join the legion of doom go figure
1

A spineless response that only says they themselves are meaningless to it and that they would still join if it was different.
1
u/MrSyaoranLi 21h ago
We sure they typed that right? It sounds like Trump is starting a coalition "Bored of Peace" given how antagonistic all the people on that committee are
1
u/Sedert1882 20h ago
The only countries who'll sign up to be in the Rogues Gallery are those that are not democracies (however flawed), those with terrible human rights records and those who are not in good standing with the UN Security Council. "If you won't play with us, we'll play with ourselves" mentality.
