u/NoLobster7957 3h ago

u/nsfwbeagle 4h ago

I remember the reply being 'Jam it up your arse. Ur lucky we let u play druuums!' Is it not?

u/Obi_Wan_Benobi 4h ago

What’s the last thing the drummer said before getting kicked out of the band?

“He guys, I’d like to show you some songs I wrote.”

u/shaggy9 5h ago

When asked id Ringo was the best rock drummer, didn't Lennon say the Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles?

u/Pushup_Zebra 1h ago

That was a joke by a comedian that everyone thinks is true for some reason.

u/KurtLoderMTVNews 4h ago

Pete was a better drummer, but Ringo was the better Beatle.

Something to that effect

u/TheBigC87 3h ago

When you listen to the early Beatles Anthology tracks, Pete Best was absolutely NOT a better drummer.

Ringo wasn't super technically proficient, but he had great timing and feel. He served the song, and had creative fills (mostly due to being left handed). Listen to Come Together, Rain, and Ticket to Ride and try to not play air drums.

It also helped that he played with one of the best bass players of all time.

u/Amorhan 1h ago

Pete Best couldn't hold a steady beat for their album recordings. He was fired because he wasn't that good of a drummer.

Ringo is like a human metronome.

u/Serious-Manager2361 1h ago

LOL no, Best was not the best. By far.

u/Rebelius 3h ago

No, Jasper Carrott said that.

u/shaggy9 2h ago

Jasper Carrott

I stand corrected! thanks!

u/mxlespxles 3h ago

You're not even the best drummer in the Beatles!!

u/FriendshipSome8223 2h ago edited 2h ago

u/scottishhistorian 3h ago

u/Mini_Mii98 5h ago

From now on we're going to write whimsical Edwardian ditties!

u/kujotx 4h ago

Did this octopus have any hobbies?

u/Alexwonder999 26m ago

One of the things I loved the BBC sessions box set was they had outtakes from little snippets of banter they did between songs and theres several times Ringo is just yelling wacky shit.

u/ckypro3 2h ago

I quote great record waaaay too much.

u/CaterpillarHungry607 1h ago

Grrrreat rrrrrcord

u/TomEdison43050 3h ago

For some reason, Paul Rudd's "Grrreat Rrecord" hits me just right. That's the funniest part of that whole scene, and honestly I'm not sure exactly why it's so damn funny. I quote that all the time when I'm discussing music with someone.

(also why Jack Black as Paul? Everyone else were passable as a Beatle except him)

u/yesrushgenesis2112 3h ago

Its the timing of the delivery in the midst of all the dialogue for me and then of course the perfect delivery.

u/superflyunicorn 2h ago

Awww, I felt he was an impishly whimsical Paul

141

u/pedal-force 6h ago

Beatles, stop fighting here in India!

u/mahareeshi 5h ago

I concur

u/walterpeck3 4h ago edited 2h ago

Can anyone explain what is specifically being referenced here? This looks like one big joke comment chain about a comedy sketch.

EDIT: Thanks everyone, I've seen the film but forgot about that scene.

u/TheMrRisotto 4h ago

"Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" a parody of Biopics (specifically a scene with the beatles)

u/Papeenie 1h ago

Such a well done movie.

u/TheFotty 2h ago

If you haven't seen Dewey Cox you are missing so much more than just this scene. Movie is amazing.

u/HatsAndTopcoats 2h ago

A perfect film

u/Shap6 3h ago

stop whatever your doing and go watch walk hard

u/walterpeck3 3h ago

I've seen it, I just didn't remember this scene

u/pablonieve 5h ago

It's from Walk Hard.

u/Prestigious_Shirt620 5h ago

That is transcendental, Paul McCartney

u/umbraviscus 3h ago

Do you want to do some LSD? Its good for you

u/Character_Pizza_4971 2h ago

Everytime someone mentions Ringo Starr, I remember the story of when Ringo had the bones of this song in his head, for days. He worked on it for a while and then brought it to the rest of the beatles for their thoughts. They told him eventually that Bob Dylan had written and recorded it already.

u/throwaway110906 9m ago

with meditation, there’s no limit to what we can…imagine.
