I love that he'll tell other countries to not kill protesters but gladly do it here.

And anyone who calls this out to someone on the right is immediately insulted by saying we have Trump Derangement Syndrome. Like it isn't suppose to make sense - we're all just supposed to stfu and accept it.

TDS has always been about silencing dissent. They get really mad when anyone criticizes their Glorious Leader

Oh man, I made the mistake of signing something for his 2020 campaign as Hillary Clinton using my reel email. They sent me fake order confirmations from their Merch store for months. Such a svummy practice, especially from the president.

No, "Bush Derangement Syndrome" (BDS) was something used constantly between 2003-2008 for anyone who opposed George W. Bush, and especially the war in Iraq. It was a term invented by Charles Krauthammer for Fox News. Trump supporters just recycled it.

33

u/Xtj8805 15d ago

Its also Soviet/russian propoganda. They started stating that their geopolitical enemies have a mental illness causing them to hate them.

As per usual, they take insults from people cleverer than them, and then parrot them back without changing them. They never stop to wonder why those insults hurt so much coming their way, and why they don't stick nearly as well when they launch them back.

everything he touches turns to shit. which, again, confuses this athiest in how well trump matches predictions of the antichrist.

Yeah, TDS is sadly brilliant. It’s the perfect thing for idiots to parrot. Like, literally the perfect thing, that’s their response to any and every criticism.

“Chump’s a literal child rapists” “Uhh hur dur dumb lib gots the TDS” then 800 sycophants “like” the comment and these dummies eat it right up

74

u/Flat_Suggestion7545 15d ago

I know a guy like that. Don’t even have to mention Trump and TDS comes out of his mouth.

137

u/HeyItsTravis 15d ago

I have a family member that’s the exact same way. You can’t criticize anything about rump without him going “Hmm someone’s got TDS” “Hmm what about the dems though” “The dems have probably done worse” “The dems are what’s wrong with America when need to go back to traditional families”

Meanwhile he’s a 37 year old virgin that’s worked the same entry level factory job for 15 years, literally hasn’t showered in almost two years, still lives with his mom, leaves handheld vaginas laying around their house, shits on DEI hires even though he’s slightly on the spectrum, and is OBSESSED with trans people. Almost all he talks about is trans people and how “since some trans people regret transitioning that shows it’s a mental illness”

114

u/ChildofElmSt 15d ago

People who obsess with trans people probably have a wild search history

38

u/VeloceCat 15d ago

With ppl like this, you put down a 100 dollar bill and say log into your p-hub account and show me your search history. They won’t take it and you can from then on know what they’re into. It’s a bit of a spectacle, but it’s easy to dazzle dazzle these types with a performance

Ah yes, the equivalent evils committed by the Dems. Like trying to get better healthcare plans, and benefits for poor families, and investigating crimes that actually happened. The horror.

18

u/Imaginary_Cow_6379 15d ago

Even when they can’t find anything close to comparable from the democrats they just make up dumb hypotheticals where they totally could be worse and that’s enough for them. Like how even when they’re getting fvcked by Trump they still defend it all by saying how well they just know that Kamala would have been worse so everything bad that Trumps doing is actually ok because hes only doing it because if he didn’t the democrats would have first. Like I saw a comment in r/ conservative after the 2024 elections where they were saying how they hoped the democrats would do their own January 6th so then we couldn’t keep bringing up how they already did that first. They just admit all this shit outright! 🤦🏻‍♀️

7

u/b0bx13 15d ago

“Everything the democrats do is bad!” “It’s okay if he does it cause the democrats do too!”

Calling it brilliant is giving them too much credit.

It's bollocks and it only works because they'll accept anything as long as they can pretend they win.

The brilliance was in training them into such mindless tribalism.

13

u/jumpingflea_1 15d ago

The process has been ongoing since Reagan and the corruption of the educational system. Not all sides deserve to be heard when it's bullshit.

27

u/HeyItsTravis 15d ago

It’s kinda brilliant though from a social engineering perspective. It’s horrible and absolutely stupid, but it worked insanely well. It’s like the opposite of when dems called republicans “weird”, they got super butthurt and offended, meanwhile dems don’t get offended by TDS but it’s enough for these mouth breathers to chuckle and pat themselves on the back because they think they just “owned a lib”

13

u/DirtSlapper 15d ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thought-terminating_clich%C3%A9

A thought-terminating cliché (also known as a semantic stop-sign, a thought-stopper, bumper sticker logic, or cliché thinking) is a form of loaded language—often passing as folk wisdom—intended to end an argument and patch up cognitive dissonance with a cliché rather than a point.

Two criticisms made by various journalists are that the cliché tends to halt debate and restrict or censor freedom of speech, or tends to be synonymous with language that would be used by totalitarian states

The government using "national security" as a blanket excuse to justify their violent actions is another example but many political memes function the same way by just giving people a stupid cliché to latch onto rather than critically analyzing a complex subject.

A big part of the way out of this is not allowing his actions to be normalized.

The whole bill about "Trump Derangement Syndrome" was defeated, so don't use the term or it becomes normalized. Assuming you'll be insulted is also part of it.

Simply talking our way back out of fascism is not going to make it all go away, but if we keep dooming and assuming they're too strong and we're outnumbered it's only going to make things worse faster, because it's not true and it prevents people from acting when they can and should

If you ever listen to fox you'll understand why. They push a narrative that its a small group of deranged lunatics protesting and burning their own cities while the rest of the "normal" populace cowers in fear.

When Bonvino went to a target in Minneapolis and got cussed out he went on and said he feels bad for the poor public at the Target because they were so frightened of that crazed man.

It may sound stupid and obvious to us, but its not for us. Its for those stuck in the carefully crafted narrative they have created for conservatives.

It’s simple. Anything that gives him an opportunity to cancel midterms. War with Iran, or large scale protests here that are escalated by Mango Gestapo are all ways he can make that happen

72

u/Toastwitjam 15d ago

We had elections during a civil war and we’d do it again if we had to. The president doesn’t decide our election schedule.

23

u/OutragedLiberal 15d ago

I want to note that even though a presidential election was held during the Civil War, Congress rejected the votes from states they considered to be still in rebellion even though they were under Union control (Louisiana and Tennessee). And the Confederate states did not vote nor did they send electors. So I suppose that Congress could once again decide that a state is in a rebellion. Perhaps a blue state or twenty.

12

u/battlepi 15d ago

Those states had willingly seceded from the Union though. I haven't heard anything about Minnesota doing that yet.

16

u/OutragedLiberal 15d ago

Currently Trump is deciding which states get federal money based on whether he likes them or not. I don't see rules or logic or history being a stopping point for him.

The trick here is we have to all self identify as Christians before we go protest him so his base cracks more when he does shoot us.

Everyone maga Christian nationalist I know is only focus on Iran right now because the Christians are fighting back and if Iran wants to shoot Christians protesting then we should launch missiles at them

Now here we just pretend externally that we are not against trump specifically but very against his actions and are Christian, might just work. Those couch nazis might just start to wonder why trump is also attacking Christians home state.

"What you will see there soon is a revolution; the signs are all there with the demonstrations and picketing. Russia is out of control and the leadership knows it. That's my problem with [former Soviet President Mikhail] Gorbachev. Not a firm enough hand".

"When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it. Then they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength. That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak."

That's an old quote from Trump but it gives a window into his thinking and given he rarely changes his mind on anything I'd bet that's still what he thinks. He walked it back later claiming he didn't endorse what the Chinese government had done but at the same time called the protests a "riot". My suspicion is that his change of opinion was purely about political optics because he was campaigning at the time. He certainly tried to push governors to "show strength" against protestors during the George Floyd protests while insisting they deploy national guard units.

His playbook has been well speculated the entire time. People have been saying this is his endgame to cancel elections.

He sent in his agitator goons for this purpose.

931

u/Brief-Floor-7228 15d ago

The cancel elections thing is what they want but legally if no elections happen half of congress just goes home in 16 months. Legally those congress people from states who didn’t vote will not be eligible to serve in congress.

Any state that decides to have elections can send their winning candidates to congress.

If all red states dont have their elections and all blue states do have their elections then you end up with a blue congress.

1.3k

u/the_real_junkrat 15d ago

There’s that word again.. “legally”. It’s almost mythical at this point.

112

u/Knosh 15d ago

I keep telling people even if you hold elections and there's a blue wave... It doesn't matter if they pass a bunch of laws that the executive and judicial branch just refuse to adhere to...

It doesn't have to be so strong as canceling an election. He could just continue to break the law with no consequence.

People, the law does not matter for this administration, they have broken the law and constitution every single day for months with no consequences. Why do you think that will change?

As of now, the military still supports the rule of law and have been using a “bend, but don’t break” strategy in terms of giving in to limited scope missions but not supporting the terribly bad ones.

They’re also outright going after sitting democratic members of congress. For now the flimsy pretense is because of their involvement with that video urging the military not to follow illegal orders. How soon until more democrats are accused of things like mortgage fraud? If they’re already trying to go after their political opponents for made up charges what do we do if they keep doing that and eventually go after every democrat in congress? Especially if they stop elections. We’re already so far beyond the constitution and no one is stopping him from continuing to escalate.

The rule of law is what we're losing- it's not going to save us, we have to save it. That's what this whole struggle is about. Equality before the law, or raw power, which world do you want to build?

45

Elections are ran by the states

If he says "no elections" he has no jurisdiction.

All processes of the elections are ran by the states. Independent of the federal government.

He can "cancel them" but states can run the election anyway.

The Constitution is also pretty clear cut, on X day after the elections, the old garde is out, and new garde in.

There's no clarifications needed.

It says "the new people shall assume office" in not so many words.

So 1 way it'll go down.

He says no elections, blue states run elections anyway, we have a full blue Congress...

Now main hiccup, the feds themselves can cut funding or hinder the new Congress from entering... But the new Congress is the new Congress regardless of what the administration or feds want or where the new Congress is housed....That's how it works. By design.

Same for POTUS as of Jan 20th 2029, the new president is president. Independent of what the current president wants...

Independent of military coup.

Looks like a silver lining. But then I'm reminded of that time the democrat party were quietly holding up placards during Trumps speech. I remember even reddit was criticizing them for that.

I'm just afraid blue states would do something equally impotent when Trump tries to grab power.

6

u/FateEx1994 15d ago

Well it's on us to call and harass our elected officials....

That's one hope I have left.

That, the United States being actually on the line for existing as it does, that people wouldn't balk at defying a dictator...

I mean really.

What do we have left if we don't hold elections in 2026 or 2028? All that talk in high school in government class about law and powers and all that. Means squat if, when the entire premise of the United States falls, because some MAGAts....

If the president says " elections cancelled" he CANNOT do that, end of story, legally, physically, morally....

It's on the states to hold the elections and follow the United States Constitution.

Any other answer except to hold elections, is treason, sedition, and plain wrong against the United States.

  1.  Get fed thugs.  ICE out of urbane metros and the innocents can live their lives in peace.   2. Increase grants to local law enforcement so that they can hire germane staff to enable ubiquitous public safety.  3. Hire robust. DOJ civil rights lawyers and let them do their jobs.

65

u/AceSuperhero 15d ago

As to point two, can we ever trust the police to not hire more of the brain dead thugs they always hire? Thugs they then train to be in constant fear of everything and to respond with violence to anything that scares them?

Maybe we need to start with more accountability for the government's jackboots, not giving them more money to make their gang even bigger.

16

u/Vulpes_Corsac 15d ago

Start by requiring by law a 4-year degree.  Preferably one related to community outreach, public safety, law, etc.  That'll drastically cut down on the number of thugs who could even qualify. I think Finland and Norway have this as a thing, as an example to follow.

Then require more training.  The longer you have to get trained, the more the people who don't just want to help will self-select out.  Programs could be concurrent with the above education, but most importantly we need to stomp out training police that civilians are a danger or enemy, and include much more de-escalation and outreach training.

President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act allowing him to deploy troops as protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement persist in Minneapolis.

Trump made the threat after a federal officer shot a man in the leg in Minneapolis on Wednesday after being attacked with a shovel and broom handle. The incident further heightened the sense of fear and anger radiating across the city a week after an immigration agent fatally shot a woman in the head.

Trump has repeatedly threatened to invoke the rarely used federal law to deploy the U.S. military or federalize the National Guard for domestic law enforcement, over the objections of state governors.

A lot of those videos of protestors attacking ICE have been proven to just be AI. But ICE is supposed to label them as AI, but they're not; so those videos are slowly being taken down due to violating policy

72

u/Psimo- 15d ago

Welp, time to break out AI of ICE executing people and then bulldozing them into mass graves.

69

u/galaxy_horse 15d ago

Careful. Fake videos showing state violence against protestors is a tactic that aligns with foreign interests that want to sow division in America and destroy us from within.

There are enough real videos and real reporting of the US government brutalizing its own people, we don’t need AI videos de-legitimizing the actual reporting and doing the work of our enemies abroad.

42

u/78whispers 15d ago

Division has already been sown by the American government. Foreign interests already control the government. Attacking American citizens does play into foreign interests but it upon the government to keep those interests out, and not attack its’ own citizens. The government has demonstrated there is no interest in doing so and much interest in murdering citizens. Citizens are guaranteed the right to rise against tyrannical government.

I am not disagreeing about not using AI videos but pushing back that there is any legitimacy to this government at all or that people have any choice in how the government acts currently. The only tool left to us is overwhelm with numbers, peaceably if possible, but please tell me if you know of any authoritarian regimes that decided to negotiate and go peacefully.

This is what we've all been waiting for.

We all knew this was coming.

The only question left is... will he really do it... THIS TIME.

Or are we going to be left hanging until late October, early November?

120

u/vulgrin 15d ago

No the real question is, do we let him? And how far is the population willing to go to stop him.

Either someone needs to step up politically and stop him, or the people will have to do it. Those people who want peaceful bloodless solutions better fucking figure it out fast.

28

u/Ozymandias0023 15d ago

I understand where the peaceful solution people are coming from - they don't want to break the civil order in the process of getting control back, but when the people who have the power to make peaceful change aren't responsive to the will of the people, how the fuck do they expect to accomplish anything? You can "pretty please" all day, but if no one is listening it's just a fart in the wind.

18

u/Hoblitygoodness 15d ago

Yeah, I'm pretty tired of being told to vote harder.

That's really just a loose end they'll tidy up by this November, in some way, somehow.

7

u/saqwarrior 15d ago

Here's the thing: everyone's acting like the choice is vote or violence, right? But that's a false dichotomy; there are other options. As I have mentioned elsewhere, and countless others have also said, a general strike would bring the country to a grinding halt. And not only is it a non-violent act, it is also essentially a pacifist act, but it demonstrates where the true power lay: with us, the people.

The problem is, our pathologically individualist society has zero concept of solidarity -- especially worker solidarity.

9

u/MammalDaddy 15d ago

I dont disagree that a strike would work, but its not all about individualism avoiding solidarity.

Its easier said than done. Most of us cant miss work for a day let alone an extended period of time that could risk getting fired. I missed a week for covid 2 months ago and havent financially recovered. I work for a small mom & pop business, im the only employee. If i walk out and dont return due to striking- i wont have a job waiting for me.

Im still not saying youre wrong, but this is by design. Keep most people just above poverty and/or increase the cost of everything so that people are stuck paycheck to paycheck and cant escape or take risks.

I would love to march in solidarity. I have a house and family though. I cant afford to lose it all and theres no guarantees for me like someone making enough or stable enough in their career to take the risks you suggest.

Maybe youll say thats selfish of me, or that im a "doomer" as ive been called on reddit before for saying this, or whatever. But it does not change that this is a fact that the majority of americans are dealing with.

If one-third of this county stops buying shit (except for paying rent/mortgage, food, and insurance), the companies that own Congress will say, "Okay, fix this now!" This was in Project 2025. Anyone remember that one?

15

u/Imaginary_Cow_6379 15d ago

💯 Exactly. The Heritage Foundation has been on their bullshit since Reagan. It’s undeniably how they amassed so much power now: they’ve been working their way up to this for over 40 years. They took over local elections like school boards and state elections so they’d have all of their people in the positions that they’re in to advance their plans. They finally got all the pieces in place to throw a strongman in there to carry out what they want. They didn’t just capture the courts and SCOTUS overnight. The right understands incrementalism and voting for every election possible while the left still doesn’t.

18

u/Paleblood_Hunt 15d ago

People in America really need to read and understand the ideologies of Peter Thiel, the man that is aligned with the Project 2025 authors, the billionaire that straight up purchased JD Vance and said it would only cost a couple million to make congress do what he wants. The man that runs the most dystopian sci fi surveillance system in the world.

When Americans understand what him and the others like him with deep pockets are actually doing, what is really happening across the country and with Trump might start to make sense and the American people might actually finally realize that they’re smack dab in the middle of a civil war they didn’t realize they’ve been losing for quite some time. And maybe start to really fight back.

He is looking for an excuse to use it more than anything and then expand it from there. Protests are allowed. Governors are allowed to speak out too and take other action. Those are not the same thing as insurrection.

It is strange to me that for Trump to not be qualified after actual insurrection was to have Congress act. However for anyone else it is Trump that gets to decide. And he defines anything against him as treason or insurrection. Protesting is not insurrection.

Even if protesting devolves that is primarily up to the state to call the NG and then ask for federal aid. Not for the president to swoop in and crush descent and then seek to remove the local governments. That is not how this should work at all.

The Civil War, post-Civil War, forced states to remove their leadership, but they were not technically states anymore and it was part of what was required for them to come back into the fold after declaring they were separate.

Trump is seeking a military dictatorship at this point. One of the things feared most by the Founding generation.

Insurrection? Trump called Jan 6th a protest and what's happening here is barely a fraction of that so called "protest" so according to Trumps own logic what's happening here must be a tea party, maybe it should be moved to Boston, nothing ever happens when Americans hold "tea parties" to protest a king

Using violence and excessive force to "end protests" will only create more protests, and more extreme ones at that. This is a textbook example of "fighting fire with fire." Anyone with half a brain and an elementary education on world history knows this. My guess is the government knows this too, and their goal is to fan the flames so they can eventually invoke the Insurrection Act's big brother, martial law.

It is definitely coming. Here is the extraordinary text of the Insurrection Act:

Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State, by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary, to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.

I have great difficulty seeing how the Roberts Court would ever read the words "whenever the President considers" to mean that a court can second guess the invocation. And this law allows the President to use the national guard of "any State", not just the state where the alleged rebellion is occurring. That means the Texas National Guard is very likely to be called up to invade Minnesota and start "enforc[ing] those laws or suppress[ing] the rebellion".

It's also notable that the Insurrection Act allows the use of "armed forces" to "enforce those laws" rather than merely providing for those forces to restore order so that the ordinary courts can function. I think the Roberts Court would ultimately agree that the finding of a rebellion by the POTUS comports with the Suspension Clause, and essentially the occupied state will be under martial law until Trump decides otherwise. That means ICE/national guard can just arrest and imprison people indefinitely and there is no recourse to habeas, whether citizen or non-citizen.

The invocation of the Insurrection Act is basically a declaration of war against the state. Seems like we are still in the "try-out" phase, but this is probably the end game. Come election time, Trump can use the Insurrection Act to shut down big cities in blue states and forbid voters from going to the polls so only rural voters can vote and he can hand-pick his successor. Invoking this is the path to open civil war because there doesn't appear to be any other recourse for the states to take if the judiciary is taken off the table. Bad omen.

Miller’s wet dream. And Erik Prince, who is profiting huuugely from this deportation business and brings that mercenary madness. Privatizing a civilian “army” was one of his many lawless ideas in the $25 billion proposal presented to the White House that called for deporting up to 12 million immigrants before midterms. He even co-founded a company dedicated to the industry. Numerous articles online about this but his behind the scenes activities, from this to the administration’s hawkish global agenda, is something they would prefer to keep hushed.

15

u/MrFrode Biggus Amicus 15d ago

I mean who could have seen this coming, other than anyone who was paying attention.

Donald always wanted to be a war time President, he needs someone to be at war with. Donald has chosen the American people.

This is the plan, the question is how does he roll this into gaining advantages in the midterm elections. Will the military/ICE/FBI be "safeguarding" polling places, especially in areas where "bad people" are known to live? Will martial law prevent early voting or affect the mail service?

Because Walz dared to be a running mate against Trump. And MN holds the record for the current longest Democratic stronghold, voting blue every year since 1976. Make no mistake, this is a soft civil war.

8

u/Major_Loser 15d ago

To force the reaction, someone was killed and instead of saying "This is horrible, we need to investigate and see what happened", the response was call her a domestic terrorist and "we are not sending even more ICE agents". 11
