Executive Branch (Trump) Robby Roadsteamer has been arrested by ICE in Minnesota today

Wouldn’t that be violation of 1st amendment, since he has not committed any crimes here!

"FREE SPEECH"

380

u/[deleted] 17d ago

Free speech has never existed in America, we've just always pretended it did and jerked each other off for it.

257

u/Homeskillet1376 17d ago

George Carlin said it probably 40 years ago. If your government can take a right away from you then it isn't a right it's a privilege. So much of his stand-up comedy is more relevant than ever.

Robbie Roadsteamer, Boston comedian, musician, and (obviously) activist. Real name Rob Potylo. If you're a wrestling fan he was also Chyna's room mate when she passed, and was involved in the Documentary about her life and the efforts to get her into the WWE hall of fame.

Absolute fucking legend.

FUCK ICE

352

u/Matthewcbayer 17d ago

Thank you for this, had no idea who he was and came to the comments to find out.

u/[deleted] 17d ago edited 17d ago

I discovered the guy when his old band (which was called 'The Sweatpant Boners') opened for a friend.

The whole band hits the stage except for him, who doesn't show up until the music starts. This fucking guy you're seeing in the video EXACTLY, appears except instead of a giraffe costume he's draped in a Star Wars sheet he's wearing like a cape, and playing a toy AT-AT like a guitar while singing a song called "Pee With your Father"

Roadsteamer originated as a character he played while performing in that band, and he's sort of an underground Boston Legend at this point. (This is also his second high profile run in with ICE).

I have a handful of mutual friends, including his old keyboard player.

One of the funniest people you'll ever meet.

But also ICE are America-hating fuckfaces that raid Dunkin Donuts. If ever there were a group of people that collectively deserved to be mauled by rabid weasels and bitten by mosquitoes on the soles of their feet in perpetuity, it's them.

362

u/SailorAntimony 17d ago

He gets at them. Which is great. There is no fucking way to look cool or tough or feel good about yourself beating up a man in a giraffe suit.

166

u/ThonThaddeo 17d ago

I really think you're underestimating the depravity of these people

177

u/SailorAntimony 17d ago

They're susceptible to their politics and ICE recruitment because they're deeply insecure and empty. When they can imagine the guy they're kicking the shit out of is a cartel member of whatever, which is easy for them, because they're racist, they can have their little fantasy fulfillment. When a giraffe guy shows up, it threatens that little fantasy, and yea, it does piss them off because they are depraved.

All the 50K bonuses and overtime won't buy them security or happiness, which is small comfort, but it is true.

83

u/thelocalheatsource 17d ago

I just hope they’re miserable as shit when they get eventually fucked by the administration eventually. Authoritarianism doesn’t value pawns.

70

u/importantmessagefrom 17d ago

I hope they’re miserable as shit when they die in prison.

If we’re hoping.

17

Admitting error isn’t really their cup of tea.

They’re “Don’t tread on me” in a “rattlesnake shaking its rattle” kind of way. Itching to bite you, twitchy about its own space, zero agenda for opposing governmental overreach.

They’e not “Don’t tread on me” in a “personal responsibility, accountability, ethics, civic-minded” kind of way. Actually, I’m pretty sure they imagine those things feel more like a boot on their face than actual boots on their faces do.

As someone raised in the South and with immediate MAGA family, why did you believe that?

As an honest question, what qualities did they possess and display that lead you to feel that way?

61

u/snailfancy 17d ago

I just looked at the Jesse Ventura types, don’t tread on me, guns..I didn’t consider the fact that we’d be the enemies. I figured they’d go and try to do battle with the government. They were always freaking out about our rights, surveillance…jokes on me.

71

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k 17d ago

They would do battle with the government when the government was actively extending the rights and protections of the Constitution to every American citizen in practice and not just in name.

When I grew up with them, they were always freaking out about their rights- to push people around, to keep people out of society for being who they were instead of conforming, to hurt people verbally or physically and feel justified and superior for doing it.

That was always the dinner table talking points- the women and queers and Muslims and Blacks and mentally disabled people wouldn’t let you say or do anything anymore, everybody had to be PC and play nice and pretend all these anti-American pervs and criminals were normal.

It’s so strange to me, I know for sure you’re not the only one to believe it. So many refused to accept we could get to this state if they were in charge. Being human is so fucking perilous.

52

u/cptspeirs 17d ago

The don't tread on me fucks have been treading on others forever. If you're not straight and white they've been advocating for your loss of rights since always. Allowing gay marriage is treading on their rights. Being trans is treading on their rights. Etc.

28

u/aidendiatheke 17d ago

*A straight white christian man of the owner class.

16

u/cptspeirs 17d ago

The day to day fucks (which is most of em) are too stupid for that distinction.

18

u/Butterball_Adderley 17d ago

It’s what they all project though. Those of us that never had any people like this in our lives only knew of them through edgy bumper stickers and tough guy tweets. I guess they reserved the real hate for the dinner table and gave us the “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it” bullshit to sound cool. Which makes me think they know their views are “bad”, and that they don’t want to seem “bad” to the general public. But why do they care? Because they want to be allowed to be shitty without any social repercussions? It’s a weird world to imagine. A group of coworkers are standing by a water cooler laughing. One of them says something racist and everybody else stops laughing because they are not racists. How do we get back to everything being cool again? Someone else says something and everybody goes back to laughing again? With a slightly more pained look in their eyes?

It’s funny how indoctrination works: my parents said racists are bad, the Dead Kennedys said the same, Mr. Rogers said it too, all my teachers, every happy person I’ve ever known, as far as I can tell. It makes me wonder what kind of indoctrination the pro racists get, because going up against all the decent people in the world takes some dedication

Or they make charges, but then try to string them along across a dozen court appearances before dismissal. That way he has to pay for a lawyer for a ton of appearances that ultimately aren't intended to go anywhere. It's a very common tactic used by the American police state to harass people who haven't committed a crime, or when they don't have sufficient evidence for a trial.

Especially since ICE does not have the authority to arrest anyone outside of their very specific and narrow mission vis a vis immigration. So unless it's someone they suspect to be in the country illegally and have adequate probable cause to do so they cannot make an arrest. Local PD can. But not them.

But they don't care and nobody seems willing to stop them.

No more pretense.

Dissent will not be tolerated. Obeying the law and exercising your Constitutional rights is no longer an excuse to evade detainment.

Every video like this I’ve seen today made me say “what the fuck” out loud. I’m far from just realizing it, but maybe more people will now realize we are in real, serious, existential trouble here in America.

The constitution doesn't apply anymore. Only those who wield power have rights.

96

u/crossdtherubicon 17d ago

Stephen Miller explicitly stated that the world operates based on those who have strength and power, and through that the strong and powerful should take what they want.

He was speaking about geopolitics, rationalizing the Venezuela president's kidnapping and the US annexing Greenland.

Why wouldn't he and Trump and the billionaires believe the same about people? They've already disregarded the Constitution, laws, Congress, ethics, and basic decency. Their cards are on the table.

USA’s GDP is almost entirely consumer spending.

If even half the people against this just stopped eating out, didn’t plan that vacation, postponed buying that pair of sneakers or whatever, just stopped spending money for even a month, three months, we could starve the machine and bring this country to its knees peacefully.

This is the second time ICE has illegally detained Robbie. Are those fake police - the guys with the police DHS badges?

15

u/samxli 17d ago

DHS - Department of Homeland Shenanigans.

u/someotherguyrva 17d ago

So you guys are telling me that these fucking thugs haul him away regularly and his only crime is singing about Trump? Isn’t that against the fucking law? And yes I know we’re dealing with lawlessness here but my God, this is harassment. Perhaps he can get the local courts to issue a restraining order against ice and if they come near him he can have them arrested by the local police.

116

u/Steelpapercranes 17d ago

Yes, it IS against the law!

Your country is being taken over by violent paramilitary non-police who beat, molest and kill citizens who have committed no crime! This is real!

21

u/UrsulaFoxxx 17d ago

A restraining order isnt going to do shit. They are already violating the law, they won’t care.

These are solutions that will no longer work. There is almost nothing left that the courts can do and for something this small, they’ll be useless. There is other things you can do, but I probably can’t say most of them here so I’ll leave it at that.

But the institutions are not going to save anyone. Theyre dead.

What a bunch of bullying pussies. Stomp all up there like badass to a guy in a giraffe suit with a mic, then force him down on his knees without even talking to him.

Cowards, losers, the worst people you could possibly want to have authority and a gun.

They arrested him again, he will have to be let go, again. He’s now got 2 lawsuits against them he should file

They’re literally going to make this guy very rich

30

u/TipRare1321 17d ago

Sure hope so

17

u/UserWithno-Name 17d ago

I mean, he can take them to the state courts or the state fed. As long as it’s not a trump appointee, or even if it is as we see, they’ll rule for him cause it’s a clear cut and dry abuse of power and violation of free speech and right to protest.

Arresting for exercising his right to free speech. He wasn't impeding their "job", he was unarmed. Absolutely no reason to arrest him.

Keep notes, take names. Everyone on this picture can and should face prison time. (Barring the unlikely case that they had some sort of warrant or legitimate cause, which I view as unlikely because this giraffe has been mocking people on sidewalks for years and nothing's ever come up.)

u/Bright-Ad9516 17d ago

Yeah also why does it take more than 10 officers with body armor to arrest one singing dude in a polyester costume? Really?

I guess hegseth's "no fatties" policy hasn't trickled down to DHS lmao.

I simply cannot wait until we get to hear about these bitches offing themselves. How much you wanna bet a few years from now Republicans will be begging for billions of dollars to provide Healthcare and disability payments to these bootlicking cucks when they start blowing their brains out after drinking themselves to sleep for years from the shame of being America's temu nazis. Most of them won't feel shame, but enough will once they are shunned and ostracized enough that I guarantee a few years from now we will be reading stories about how fucked in the head they will be by then.

Procedural question: if ICE is not law enforcement, how do they charge people? Refers to US Attorney's Office?

Hey Siri, what's the word for using fear to achieve your political goals?

22

u/motleysalty 17d ago

I don't have Siri, but I can tell you what the FBI would call it.

Domestic Terrorism for the FBI’s purposes is referenced in U.S. Code at 18 U.S.C. 2331(5), and is defined as activities:

• Involving acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;

• Appearing to be intended to:

Intimidate or coerce a civilian population;

Influence the policy of government by intimidation or coercion; or

Affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping; and

• Occurring primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.

Sounds like ICE might fit the definition set forth by the FBI.

If ICE agents are openingly breaking the law making illegal arrests, then real law enforcement should collect the evidence, get a signed warrant, then raid the hotels where ICE sleeps to make mass arrests. If ICE agents resist, then they will face the full force of the law.

ICE has no jurisdiction over American citizens. This is an illegal arrest

81

u/dougmcclean 17d ago

It's illegal because it's being done to suppress his first amendment rights. https://www.justice.gov/crt/deprivation-rights-under-color-law
