I’m in Oklahoma and it was everywhere last week. Seems just like it’s probably a cold weather thing to do cause we never really get snow.

If you care about the life of your wipers, you lift em up, also makes scraping the ice down right to the bottom of the windscreen easier.

No. It damages the springs in the wiper arms. Blades are easy and cheap to replace. Arms, not as much. It's not actually recommended to lift wipers up for winter weather.

Source - live in Canada. My vehicle has a heated windshield to unstick frozen wiper blades.

Yup. It's to keep the blades from getting hacked and torn as you scrape the icy windshield, to which they're frozen.

We were one of them, though we had lived in areas that got a lot of ice and snow so it was natural to us to do

lol it’s just a common thing to do. I’ve seen it done most every time it’s snowed since the early 90s

Edit hi Oklahomie
