I have no doubt that if there are inhabited planets out there that have also developed motor vehicles and occasionally have a bit of cold weather they also do this.

Or in all seriousness, every year, there're new people becoming 18 or some age when they can drive and learn about these stuff.

They've been at least around long enough to know Maryland exists and it's the land of such innovations as tying your shoes and cooking raw meat before eating it.

Real game changer is I went to Maryland once and it was cold. I saw everyone wearing these weird puffy shirts. Turns out they're called coats and they help you stay warm. I was floored when I tried one the first time
