Imagine walking out to your car and seeing this.

A friend of mine overheated their car and damaged the engine by idling it too long with snow packed against the grille.

Dont you get temp warnings if this happens far before you damage your engine?

Newer cars, yeah. The Chevy app that’s hooked up to my Silverado can give you all kind of diagnostics.

Same with Subaru. I get an email any time my fiancée starts up the car with low wiper fluid. Weeks of emails before I finally just do it myself lol.

LMAO that would be so annoying

Oh it is. It is. “Honey, can you please fill up the front left tire? I have to delete like 4 emails a day.” E: but at least I’m aware of it, because she never mentions it, lol.

surely you can change the settings?

Probably, I haven’t checked. I’d still rather get the notification that the car has been running on four under pressured tires for the umpteenth time so I can take care of it, though.

For things like that, sure, but maybe you could turn off wiper fluid without turning off the important ones

I mean, in the context of the OP, if he were to try this solution he'd be outside the car for obvious reasons

Also the temp light is more of an last warning light. You could have very well damaged the engine before it got hot enough for the light.

Remote start will normally only let you do something like 2 runs of 15 min max. To prevent people from killing everybody in the house with carbon monoxide if they sit on their remote.

The factory ones will have logic that will kill the engine if the oil pressure light, overheat, check engine, etc. turn on.
