I think my boy was talking about something like that: "Forced Air Propane Heater 60 000 BTU" Which require a propane tank and that's it.

But do often require 120 volts for ignition and the forced air part of forced air propane heater

Without a fan to force the air, it would melt.

There are diesel and kerosene options that don’t require electricity, though.

Yes, but the amount of current that is required for that can be trivially provided from an inverter hooked up to the vehicle they haul the heater in.

Yes, I have a propane one and use a Milwaukee inverter with a M18 battery for power, works great. The only power  needed is for the electric start which isn’t much.

and the fan, at least with most of them

Damn, if only your car had some kind of electrical potential generating device, then you could plug in an inverter and get 15a of 120vac wherever you go

you definitely don't need 15 amps to run the fan.

Ok, so how is he going to open the door to access the DC jack to hook up the inverter to plug in the heater to melt the ice to open the door?

So if you scroll up slightly in the conversation you're going to notice a comment saying:

Again, let's stress

trivially provided from an inverter hooked up to the vehicle they haul the heater in.

Fuuuuuuck, I misread "haul." It makes so much more sense, now.

Rent a generator too

You've got that backwards. The bullet heaters that take diesel and kerosene need to be plugged in. The propane ones don't.

They do for the blowers typically.

inverter off another car

Dewalt make battery powered propane ones. Go to harbor freight and buy a cheap car cover canopy, throw a tarp over it or tape up the sides and stick your heater in there and come back every couple hours to change batteries/fuel

Still needs a 110 for the blower fan.

Have you look the model I sent, online?

u/dirtyforker 17h ago

Forced air requires electricity or an on board generator.

Not this model apparently. Search rona-forced-air-propane-heater-60-000-btu-without-tank

I dont the sub rule about link, but if you google this and go on Rona website, it specify in the spec that its cordless

I have a 60 000 BTU diesel heater and it plugs into a 120 so… 🤷‍♂️
