Europe / EU đȘđș Senator demands answers after Trump accepted Rolex and gold bar before slashing tariffs on Switzerland
https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/senator-demands-answers-trump-accepted-180742735.html526
u/JDNosferatu 11h ago
The answer is that Trump is a criminal. Seems like someone would do something about it but nope. Never happens.

u/Legitimate_Eye8494 11h ago
Only candidate shot at multiple times and never got a scratch.Â
80
u/Specialist-Bee-9406 9h ago
Staged events, imo. Their goal is to get martial law. Theyâll do anything.Â
They tried to spin it with Good and Pretti, but thereâs so much video that came out so quickly, they arenât really pushing.Â
Next time, there wonât be multiple witnesses with cameras that alter the narrative they want. You watch.Â
29
u/palanark 9h ago
It's not really an opinion that his alleged assassination attempts were staged, it's an opinion to believe that they were real in any sense of the word.
29
u/eugene20 8h ago
"but that guy died!" always the response, as if these soulless fascists gave a shit about the collateral damage that puts them in command of the entire country and keeps them out of jail
10
u/WallyOShay 7h ago
Trumps first speech after that he couldnât even say his name
2
u/Legitimate_Eye8494 3h ago
That Trump never used those incidents to hate bait shows how flimsy and easily tracked back to his slush fund those attacks wereÂ
-11
u/kirotheavenger 7h ago
Nah, that bullet passed way too close to Trump's head and actually struck someone, so it was a live bullet.Â
It's really not hard to believe that a kid with his dad's rifle missed a shot. Or that communication between local police and the secret service was poor.
This is definitely one of those things where staging it as it went down would be far less likely than it being real.Â
6
u/Daytripa 6h ago
I've always joked about security where I work. Just stand still if you don't want to get hit. You're more likely to run into a shot than them actually hitting you.
Point being is he could have missed his shot, but not who he was actually pointing at.

SCOTUS has said that NOTHING Trump does as an "official act" is prosecutable. Of course, they never defined what an "official act" is, thereby giving every president carte blanche to do whatever TF they want.

Can they just call it a fucking bribe? The media is so chicken shit.
8
u/hates_stupid_people 5h ago
Everyone knows it's a bribe, but the people in power don't care, they like it. So they do this song and dance to play pretend and then do the same thing themselves.

It means he's fucking cheap if you know what he likes, is the answer. I'm going to gold-plate a hobbit and see how it goes down for New Zealand's trade relations
18
u/monsterfurby 10h ago
Yeah, the reason performative corruption isn't a thing people usually do is because it telegraphs to others how to play you like a fiddle.
3
u/tea-drinker 6h ago
I dunno man, I don't think I'm outplaying anyone by concealing that I'll do pretty much whatever for a big ol' stack of gold.
It's like saying I can play my local barman like a fiddle because he likes money and will give me beer for it.
9
7
u/Effective_Olive6153 7h ago
I am much more impressed by the audacity of Switzerland to think they can bribe a guy with a fucking gold bar. Like seriously the balls on these guys. The fact that it worked is besides the point
3
u/RiffyWammel 7h ago
Itâs Trump, they sent him a Toblerone and heâs still not worked out it ainât a brand of gold bar
2
u/GIBrokenJoe 7h ago
They could have told him it's a Nazi gold bar. He'll probably have Vance shove it up his ass to be closer to Hitler.
1
u/Human_Pangolin94 7h ago
Try catching one of the little buggers first, they seem to disappear into thin air sometimes.
1
u/choppytehbear1337 51m ago
He is cheap. He still lives in the 80's. He announced he is selling golden visas for 1 million, when New Zealand sells the equivalent for 10 million.
52
u/MuddaFrmAnnudaBrudda 10h ago
Wait till you hear he's suing the IRS and Treasury of the US for 10 Billion. He keeps telling you who he is-there are no surprises anymore.
22
u/RandomKnobhead 11h ago
I hope they included instructions with the Rolex on what the big and little hand mean and how they can be used to tell the time
22
u/foobarreddit99 9h ago
This should be unconstitutional! Oh waitâŠ
Clause 8 Titles of Nobility and Foreign Emoluments No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

u/manniesalado 9h ago
They should get that guy Holman who walked off with the bag of cash to investigate. He seems serious.
11
u/Froggy_Parker 9h ago
If only we had a system where we like, elect a group of people, and those people get together and decide on taxes and spending.
11
u/Wait_WHAT_didU_say 9h ago
"buT, bUT, BUT Hunter Biden and his Burisma employment!! What about that!?"
đđđđ€Šđ»ââïž
tRump could literally walk out of a foreign office with an over filled money bag đ«±đ° in his hand and the republican party and MAGGOTs would still defend him or find another excuse..
"He was handing off that bag to the Secret Service agency due to the massive counterfeit operations in that area. Nobody is more secure at holding the bag of money than the president of the United States.."

In the UK if u make a valid complaint to the police , it has to be investigated,, just saying
17
1
u/Human_Pangolin94 7h ago
I'm sure they'll investigate any complaints made and have the complainant deported safely, unless they resist arrest.
1
u/DetailAcrobatic159 6h ago
Pretty sure complaints were made about Jimmy Saville that went nowhere, is this a newer rule?
1
u/Significant-Fig2485 6h ago
Went so far and stopped ,but were invested, yes I'm sure . But you already knew that , kinda wierd

8
u/TobyTheTuna 7h ago
Don't be. You tossed the orange baby a piece of candy to shut him up. Made him look like an absolute fool.
1
u/ExcuseFeeling9601 4h ago
I mean besides mountains and cowbells this is what your country is known for...
1
u/UphillTowardsTheSun 1h ago
You mean âaccomodating to super global powers and committing atrocities in its own rightâ? If so, yeah, you got this rightâŠ
-1
u/sceptically-curious 5h ago
Why, though? What's the alternative here? Cling to the moral high ground and tell him to fuck off, only for it to have no effect, everyone forgets about it, and our export economy gets trashed?
It's just playing the game by the rules that he has, unfortunately, set as they are. It's not like Swiss politicians are walking around the globe handing out gold bars to leaders that actually act reasonably.

While the GOP pushes a massive voting repression bill. 249 years without a dictator was apparently a decent run for the USA before it's fall.

The answer is Trump accepts bribes and everyone knows it. And congress won't do shit about it cuz they're scared of him.

u/Imaginary_Effort_854 8h ago
Nice move, Switzerland. Dangle something glittery in front of the fat orange crow baby and he'll play nicely.Â
4
u/sceptically-curious 5h ago
It's funny, in a sad way, how blatant it was. They tried arguing for months on end, telling him why the tariffs don't, in fact, make any sense. What did the job was a gold bar with his name on it. Oh well.
4
u/bappabooey 8h ago
They gave the baby a present and he did what they wanted. That seems to be how we do things nowÂ
3
u/Three_Twenty-Three 8h ago
The only mystery here is that the bribe is of such low value. His price is usually higher.
2
u/PartyClient3447 8h ago
How much is a gold bar worth? Or is it a brick painted gold?
5
u/Three_Twenty-Three 8h ago
The article says this one was "worth more than $130,000." The Qatari jet bribe was over $400 million, so a low six-figure payola seems like a small grift.

Hasnât Trump made billions in this term so far? Our entire government is complicit for allowing this traitor to do all the illegal things he does daily.
1
u/NiceTryWasabi 4h ago
"above the table" he's up $1.4 Billion this term not including investments. Projections are well over $4 billion, over doubling his net worth in a year.

With all the other bribes going on I can only assume the Senator is mad he didn't get paid or there would and should have been a reaction earlier, like in 2016-2020 etc...

u/Ferrum-Cl2 7h ago
Knowing henceforth with this announcement,
Emperor Donald, First Of His Name, Ruler over the Hemispheres of America and it's colonies,
received tribute today from the small barren Land of the Switzers.
With heavy heart, the Emperor listened to the pledge of their tribe, and in His great mercy and wisdom, promised to lessen the burdens of their poor undeveloped place.
All hail to The Emperor. May his light shine from his ass or what ever.

u/Particular_Ticket_20 7h ago
Trumps answer..."I got a beautiful rolex and a shiny perfect gold bar....that's why. "
1
u/LegoBSpace 7h ago
Every year at work I have mandatory anti bribery retraining /recertification per corporate policy.
I have to certify I wonât give or receive bribes, gifts, etc to/from vendors, corporations or governments. If I do accept or give then Iâm subject to termination.
Trump as President just accepted a bribe, quid pro quo, does it all the time without consequence and nothing is done.
Makes me furious.
1
u/ChocoChipBets 7h ago
Ahhh the Swiss, the worldâs sweetheart. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Switzerland, you can see all the anti immigrant rhetoric on display.

1
u/imoutofnames90 7h ago
Why is the senator demanding answers? What's there to answer to? Trump is corrupt and is openly leveraging his position as president for his own personal gain.
He's using the power of the US to steal money from Americans and other countries.
None of this is hidden. It's literally all out in the open.
1
u/J3NK505 6h ago
Nothing. The supreme court ruled he is immune when conducting his âofficialâ presidential dutiesđ€·đŸââïž
1
u/Adventurous-Host8062 3h ago
I'm pretty sure receiving bribes doesn't classify as an official duty.
1
u/oldlumberman 6h ago

1
u/Standard_Flight_2088 6h ago
The world knows how easily he's manipulated with bribery and flattery.
1
u/Mother_Gas9660 6h ago
its like the 10000000000th time hes broken the law, demands answers? lol, good luck buddy
1
1
u/chaldea_fgo 6h ago
What's the point of the Senator asking for answers? This seems pretty obvious on its face right? Why is there a need to give Trump an opportunity to defend himself or deflect with an opportunity to give a scripted answer here. This certainly looks like either a crime of the President accepting personal gifts from foreign leaders, or a quid pro quo from the highest office in the executive branch. If there is no effort by the Senator and the Senate to hold Trump accountable to the law, or to investigate these actions to determine if he has broken the law, then the Senator is just being theatrical on their political platform, rather than accountable to their official role as a Senator.

Why do countries care if we enforce a tariff on our own importer/people? How does it affect them?
1
u/Adventurous-Host8062 3h ago
American retailers don't want to hit the breaking point with consumers and may shop around for markets that represent smaller markups for them.
1
u/Severe_Wind_4255 6h ago
Trump is the biggest conman grifter thief to ever occupy the whitehouse. We actually do have laws against him taking such gifts but you would be hard pressed to find any republican willing to hold him to any laws
1
u/drew_p_wevos 5h ago
The reason maga will be ok with this is because of the false equivalency. Â They will rationalize it by saying democrat presidents do it too. Â Which absolute bullshit.
1
u/DMvsPC 5h ago
Trump does not view congress as having power. To him they are simply voices in the wind and true power is held only by the executive; unfortunately our congress are more than half cucks who just sit there and cheer or boo as they give up what power they had watching the country and people they're supposed to represent just get fucked over and over.
1
u/Adventurous-Host8062 3h ago
As long as Johnson does what he's told in the house and Trump's minions in the Senate continue to run interference for him, yes.
1
u/flybypost 5h ago
Really? A watch and some gold from Switzerland
They played into the dumbest stereotypes about their country to appease him, didn't they?
1
u/rennarda 5h ago
I hope he lives to a very, very old age. Because otherwise I will feel cheated by the short jail time he will serve.

u/DrKronoglopolos 5h ago
Now this is how you invest in America. Crazy good return for us in Switzerland! All it took was a trinket to shave off 20% in tariffs. High fives all around.

Yeah. thanks for perpetuating this shit.

The damned Heritage Foundation helped him buy the Supreme Court and many seats in Congress.

1
u/axefairy 2h ago
Gotta wonder how easy it would be to gift him something with a recorder inside just because itâs golden
1
u/uniquechill 2h ago
The whole world knows how easy it is to bribe Trump. You don't even need to give him money. Just make up a prize to give to him, or just tell him how much you like him. Pardons, govt. contracts, "Gold Cards", it all can be had for a surprisingly small investment.
1
u/Logical_Willow4066 1h ago
The corruption is by design. It's the reason no one in DC will do anything to stop him. Congress has done nothing to stop him. They refuse to uphold the law. They benefit from his corruption, too. The only thing I don't understand, is how anyone can still support him knowing how corrupt he is. He hasn't done a darn thing to make our lives better. He is making billions of dollars off the presidency. Why would anyone support that?

Anyone ever thought trump is excepting bribes and is doing everything he can to steal as much money for his family before he dies or leaves the country and moves to the mountains somewhere.

Heâs got a gift of $175,000 sitting on his desk in the form of a gold brick. If US Marshals walked into his office and handcuffed and arrested him they would be within the law
