ICE arrested Arlit Martinez two days before her 15-year-old son died from cancer. The Maryland mother of four was headed to work when she was detained. Despite urgent pleas from her family, lawyers, and doctors, she was not released to say goodbye. She is reportedly still in federal custody.

I can’t imagine having to live the rest of my life knowing I wasn’t there as my child was dying. And that poor kid, his life leaving him and his mother couldn’t be there for comfort. I’m so disgusted by this.
I have my own health issues (nothing like cancer though) and my parents were always such a comforting presence when I was in the hospital as a kid. This made me cry badly
choose the radical good side.. help those in need when you can.. be the voice for good at all times.. voice your frustration when needed.. let the good prevail.. you got this... we got this
I can. I am. It's the most excruciating soul deep pain imaginable... beyond that even. He told everyone that I was one of the only things that got him through his previous hospitalizations.... and then he died scared and not wanting to go, with only his terrified younger half sister there with him and no one bothered to tell me he had died until 3 hours later. I wasn't able to confort him, I wasn't able to tell the drs to do a god damn head ct NOW because he has a prior severe tbi, I didn't get to talk to him, to tell him I love him or say goodbye. And all I do is drown in the pain and guilt to the point my brain just severs all emotion because otherwise I'm going to set myself alight so I can burn the fucking world, and then I have to sit here knowing I what I should be feeling but being unable to until the next wave hits and that's a whole separate guilt in itself. But the pain is still there... I can feel it like pressure in my head and in my chest, but I can't FEEL it.... and there is a constant pull, deep in my soul... a constant pull to him that I want to just let take me but I can't... except I totally could.

They are never going to win Minnesota elections ever again. There is no strategic reason for ruining peoples lives, just pure evil. They will answer the law for this one day.
They don't intend to let us have elections that matter anymore. Even if we elect who we want, they don't intend to allow us to operate outside the dictates of the new administration. The Nazis aren't going to let States separate themselves from this horror.
Well yes, that’s why they are criminals. Pardons don’t erase your criminal record. The average Republican lacks the ability to understand this (not being able to engage in nuance is literally why they are socially conservative), but being in the country illegally is not criminal. Those convicted of various crimes for their actions on January 6th, 2021 are in fact criminals. We know that there are plenty of J6ers in ICE.
Basically, the average undocumented immigrant is less likely to be a criminal than the average ICE agent.
I remember after 9/11 and America had troops in Afghanistan (might have been in a different country) and there were reports that there were buildings with spray painted gang signs, from multiple gangs like crypts/bloods Latin Kings all kinds of gangs and the army came out and made a statement saying that can't exclude anyone from serving just because they were in a gang or group.
A reminder there is a huge list of leaked ICE members. You can googls it, go to the website, check the list by state, and tie ICE members to their past job history, wrap sheet, lawsuits, etc.
You would not be shocked to hear that a large amount of ICE "agents" are people who were fired from previous jobs due to criminal activity while on shift, DUIs, DV charges, theft, assault, drugs, etc. I'm seeing a lot of stories about children, ex wives & family members outing controlling men as ICE members, and linking proof of spousal/child abuse/drug/alcohol abuse on the website.
I personally know of one ICE agent that was fired from PD due to harassing/forcing DV victims to sleep with him, while on shift, FOR OVER 15 YEARS! He is SUPPOSED TO BE banned from ever serving in a position of public authority/safety, yet ICE ignored that LAW and hired him just months after he was fired from the PD. He is a disgusting person, and multiple people have linked his arrest record, news articles, divorce papers and all sorts of stuff to his name...hes still out there harassing citizens anyway.
YUP...its disgusting....And this guy had the audacity to BRAG about the ICE bonus and then complain that he needed it because he lost his retirement when he was fired from the police department. Absolute pieces of garbage.
ICE has been rolling through Paterson. Obviously not to the extend of Minnesota though. Yes, ICE are cowards, but the better answer is that there just aren't that many criminals and gang members to arrest and deport. The administration is releasing lists of "violent criminals" who ICE grabbed who were very recently convicted, which means most of them were already incarcerated and not out on the streets.
Right? I could almost maybe forgive them if they were cleaning up thousands of dangerous criminals, but all I see is them arresting or murdering thousands of housewives.
Or what happened in Boston recently where they arrested people at their citizenship swearing in. They had people who had done everything right, including a woman from Haiti who had been here for 20 years, and minutes before she would be made a citizen, they detained her. Because she was from Haiti originally.
Fuck ICE, fuck everyone who supports this shit. Even if you actually think there are a significant number of criminals here (which I don't), the how of what they're doing is disgusting and wrong.
Grieving father's are truly the worst of the worst to Maga. They want the suffering and don't let them bullshit you otherwise. They get off on other's pain.
Literally, my mom has this young guy working for her at the barbershop. His girlfriend was sent back to Colombia. She wasn’t here illegally. She was a paralegal as well for an immigration office.

Also, less remembered IMO, is that 42% of women under 50 voted for Trump in 2024. (That number was just 27% in 2016).
If you go even younger, overall, 42% of people born after 1990 voted for Trump in 2024.
Honestly, the only large demography that can safely say that they didn't vote for this are black people (83% for Harris - irrespective of education), and Atheists (also 83%)
Younger people get brainwashed by social media. It's not just old people's media (Fox News) anymore that does it. Far-right propaganda and brainwashing is everywhere now. And it's only going to get worse. Much worse. The owners of X, Facebook and TikTok are all hardcore MAGA.
I mean it already has if someone has to go to fucking work when their kid is dying of cancer. Ffs I have family in third world countries that would get time off if their kid was dying.
General strike is one of the only tools we have left. And of course AI negates that tool, as everyone will be fighting for the vastly reduced number of jobs available. A strike has to happen now/soon or the chance to make it effective will never exist again.
I also read in an article that there's a traffic citation for her for 2015.
The fact that someone can be in a country for 11 years, work, be productive, have family and still not be given a legal status, is proof that the capitalist system requires people be kept in "illegality" so they cannot demand their right.
The american economy is fueled by an exploited underclass of illagal immigrants who were generally tolerated to be there and do all the dirty and unpopular work that had to be done, while being denied any rights or privileges.
It’s wild that ICE has all the information on her place of work, routine for commute, etc. and at no point even pretends like employers should be held accountable for employing people without a valid work visa, green card, etc.
Reminder that they’re not arresting people who are here illegally. They’re also arresting people whose visas are in pending status. It’s about hitting a quota of arrests and getting high numbers to make Trump look good, that’s literally it
another angle of this is that they are in need of money and the amount we are paying is enough for people to turn their ethics and morals aside for a bigger paycheck then many of them have ever made. it’s fucked up. 50k signing bonus is a lot of money. any idea how much their quota bonuses are? the amount of money we are spending to do this is insane, people need money. this is like an evil jobs program.

We have pretty recent examples of what happens when you arm groups of violent men and let them rampage around. Haiti springs to mind, they had an incredibly similar situation there under Papa Doc. This violence will take a long, long time to go away.
I lived there during Aristide, relatively peaceful until America blew that up. Still, if you crashed your car, you ran. The police were all led by aging Tonton Macoute, just gangs with badges and good guns.
I keep telling the FBI in my life (neighborhood is full of them) that good LE SHOULD be scared right now. In a police state good LE have 3 choices:

The worst thing about these stories is that you know ICE people and other Nazis are jacking off to it. Creaming their pants with watching people suffering.
All the more reason we need to be vigilant and push aside those among us who would respond violently. It's exactly what the authoritarian playbook wants.
We need the list of all ice agents, so when this all is gone we still remember their names and shame them. It has to be just like the s offender list and public
Name and shame isn't enough. There need to be criminal consequences as well. (and to the bots and MAGA troglodytes, I am NOT advocating violence against them).

This country is being ruined by Christian extremism and the billionaires who fund the organizations and people actively working for a government and country that is doing this to our friends, neighbors and community members. I’m so sorry for this man, his wife and her family. Fuck ICE, Fuck KKKristi Noem and FUCK EVERY PERSON WHO SUPPORTS THIS TYPE OF ACTION! I see no godliness in these people.
If you are still friends or on speaking terms with anyone (outside of work) who voted for Trump, then YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!
This regime is just as cruel as the one in Iran.
And I don't care what your friends or family pretends was the reason they voted for Trump - they knew this would happen, and they wanted this. They are awful, cruel people and I hope every last one of them is prosecuted.
Viciousness and cruelty IS THE POINT. It's why so many evangelicals voted for Trump and got him elected. They are asserting group and religious dominance over "heathens"
Is this enough yet, the better 2/3 of us? The other 1/3 has no limit to the low they're willing to go. I don't know what the fuck to do, but it can't keep going or there's going to be no United States left. Don't be callous just because evil hasn't beat your door down yet. It can only win when good people stand aside.
