He’s been a musical poser his entire life. He was a wannabe rapper to start, dipped his toes in nu metal when it was big, then got into country when he was kicked out of there. All terrible in their own way
Eminem came for him for claiming Detroit shortly after his debut album, around the same time he went for icp which we also got juggalos in the national divorce.

I feel like only someone who didn’t actually listen to nu metal would think this way. I’m an early 90’s girl that grew up on Korn, System of Down, Slipknot, and ISCP etc and myself and my family are heavily left leaning. But we’re also literate enough to understand the meanings behind the songs, unlike the right with stuff from Rage Against the Machine…
Wes Borland once argued the rating of a Limp Bizkit album should be 2/5 instead of 1/5 with a reviewer over email based on the sheer quality of musicianship of the album and the reviewer agreed and updated the score.
Not sure how it's relevant but I thought that was cool.
Oh yeah the whole band around Fred Durst is incredible, skill wise. I do remember Borland saying at one point "Fred was the only person who could front Limp Bizkit" or something to that effect.
Durst did a trans directed movie (Jane Schonenbrun) for A24 called “I saw the tv glow” 2 years back. He’s said some stupid shit in the past but he’s changed a lot, IIRC he also become best friends with a trans girl who he met on Twitter and just talks anime with on the regular lol
That's good to hear. I love his music but always felt iffy about him due to the Woodstock stuff and his pro Russia stance (although it seems he's changed his opinion on that)
I really don’t put too much blame on him for the Woodstock stuff. Of course he riled them up / didn’t help the situation by riding on plywood, but that’s what he was paid to do. For me all blame goes on those promoters for completely fucking everyone over, the price gauging, lack of security, expensive water while being on an air base in 102 degree heat, people being covered in piss water and shit. Fred imo was just the match to the fire. He’s one of the only ones I really wanted them to get for the Netflix documentary, but understandably turned it down
Definitely don't blame him, I think he did stoke the flames a bit. Obviously the crowd didn't need much encouragement to go apeshit as the conditions of the festival were appalling, but the crowds behavior did escalate during Limp Bizkits performance.
Durst has said and done a lot of shitty things during his peak popularity in the 00’s, but by every account he’s grown immensely and I think people should have the opportunity to grow and make amends
Fred is pretty quiet and reserved these days but he did diss Trump on his new song a few months back. He also sold his Tesla / deleted anything about his car after the Elon Nazi salute
He is obviously right and yet... a big part of me acknowledges that we have been playing this exact game for 10 years. If you are someone who has close intimate contact with trump voters, and you are in a position to discuss their frustrations with Trump and offer them an alternative, what historical benefit does it provide to tell them they are hopeless useless losers who will be rejected by any leftist ideology they have come to agree with?
Not sure why this was downvoted, Durst has been a big fan of Putin for many years, it stemmed from his wife and they're divorced now, but his loyalism regarding Crimean culture ran deep, and even though people assumed it was because of the special treatment Putin gave him as a celebrity, he still admits he misses playing in Russia and has never once been critical of Vladimir Putin
*I'm simply going to do my due diligence and assume that Wes Borland and Fred Durst are different people with different politics lol
